The intelligence of the forum seems to drop by the day

Excellence of Execution
And I'm not talking about in the wrestling sections, I'm talking about the so-called regulars. Shitty posts get repped, great threads go unnoticed, hard work of good quality is rarely acknowledged, and too many of you post in piss bucket MSN style conversations in the Bar Room.

The recognition of quality of this forum has now given way to recognition of shitty online friends. Awful. I wish we could still see posts that get repped around here, because I would love to provide examples. The recent ass quality of the regulars lately have made me strongly consider a VIP room again, and will only invite people who post with good quality, that way I don't have to read all your asinine comments anymore.

Feel free to defend yourself in this thread. And after the 7th post, when people have gone off topic in a completely unfunny manner, it will just prove my point.

I'm full of quality, but I'm also full of apathy. What a bad combo. Maybe if you'd post somewhere and make it open to debate you, I'd hop in.

It's really not that bad at all Sly. No different than what it's always been like. Do you remember the regulars in 2007 and the Bar Room threads? They were worse than they are now. We have a good 20+ very good posters on this board right now, compared to the maybe 10 we had 2 years ago.

The forum is fine. The dumbasses have always been around, they just have different names now.

You're missing my point. My point is that idiocy is celebrated, long posts=great automatically, regardless of the content, and instead of people challenging themselves to think in a more strenuous manner, they instead cling to the idiot threads.

I'll give you a great example. A couple years ago, I made a thread where people would make a Wrestlemania card, and had certain rules to make the card (match length, wrestler could only appear once, etc.). I made a VERY similar thread not too long ago...and it got NOTHING.

That's just an example. People will go and post in the piss bucket threads and ignore the good ones. It's silly.

People wonder why rep is meaningless these days, it's because EVERYONE reps for the worst posts. "CCS is a dumb butt, he he he", will get 6 reps in a minute. Meanwhile, there is a ton of quality threads and posts that go ignored.

And what do you propose is done about it? Elitism will be the end of this board.

And what do you propose is done about it?
I propose that people prove that they aren't the idiots they are turning into, and instead of the mindless chatter of goofiness, they go and at less attempt to recognize good threads and post, and challenge themselves to do something about that requires a modicum of intelligence.

Elitism will be the end of this board.
It isn't elitism I'm searching for, it's intelligence.

I am pretty much the same...full of apathy, that is. But, Jake gave me an inspirational message today, so I should be on my way to doing more.

I don't think posters have "dumbed" down though; I just think that they've just lost a lot of motivation. I think things will be back to normal once Fall rolls around.

Good posts and threads are completely and totally perspective.

You can challenge all you want, but it ain't going to do shit. Seriously, you're falling victim to the same issues as the rest of the board. You're posts have dropped immensely in quality, I don't care what anyone says, and I very much doubt its you losing your touch; its the fact that everything has been said about almost every topic, there is nothing interesting to debate about, nothing big to actually go at it about. But go ahead, continue to complain about something you cannot change; disinterest in the product.

It isn't elitism I'm searching for, it's intelligence.

Your sideways comment about creating another V.I.P. forum was elitism at its purest. You taking the "best" that you see, and giving them special rights and privileges while lookin' down on the rest.

You know what.... I tend to side with Slyfox on this one. I mean, sure, people talk about my posts. But before the JTMFTG, who honestly ever read or cared about my posts? Right now, I just did a thread that actually compared Kevin Sullivan to Brian Pillman (Trust me, it works... I promise you. I thought for a good four hours on the subject). And I can pretty much predict that thread is going to be completely ignored, much like my question as to who killed Stampede Wrestling.

In short.... I think that many of the regulars are great... But if you want to be in a class like The Slys, The Xs, The KBs, the NorCals, people should give their posts a whole line of thought. And perhaps that goes missing in posts.

However, I'd say that takes time, Sly. They'll get it. Look at Thunderball. The guy's thought process is sound. And it took him a while to get there. But he got it. For now, I'm completely fine challenging myself, and seeing if I can get a conversation going here.

Hey guys I know I haven't been posting much as of late, but this is part of the reason I don't and I'm glad that Sly has brought it up. I've been here for quite a while and over the last few months I've logged on basically daily, but rarely post due to the fact that it's just become hard to find good discussion in many threads. The WWE section for example has a lot of topics that I find to be interesting, but when I go into it the discussion is just lacking and I loose the want to put in some input due to people ignoring the majority of the posts... I'm with Sly on this one. No offense to anyone...

Uh, what? Dave's been here for a shorter period of time than you and he's a better poster.

Now that's simply fucking ridiculous. I love Dave, and he knows that, but Tenta is without a doubt in my mind the best poster on this forum right now. The guy doesn't just start topics, he fucking dissects them from every angle imaginable, and does so both intelligently and with good humor.

You know who Tenta reminds me of right now? IC. Shocky. Shadowmancer. The guys that weren't content to just add their 2 cents into a topic, but to absolutely delve into that topic with passion like few others, dissect it, and look at it from every angle possible. The shit Tenta writes could easily be on WrestleCrap or any other top-notch wrestling journalism website.

In short, get out of here with that bullshit.

I never said I thought Dave wasn't better than me. To be truthful, I think he is. I think he's alot better than me. I never said otherwise. What I'm getting at is that people are there that are thinking about there posts. That's really all I'm saying.

Perspective; what is it with you all and the whole "So and so is better then everyone?" shit?

Technically, Sly brought it up first.

Fair enough.... Look, it really is all a perspective thing... I didn't catch it until Brian said it earlier.... Kind of profound, actually, Brian. Anyway, the fact of the matter is, we're going to like different people. Who cares? I understand that we all put up different things, but we're not going to be able to win every person over to our camp. We know Sly is intelligent.... We know who's intelligent on the board. And it isn't like no one new isn't bringing up new, intruiging thoughts, because that isn't true. Lariat, Razor, you get my drift. Again, I understand where Sly is coming from. But it's just a thinking thing. It clicks, I guess. And we're just going to like certain things more than others.

If one cannot stay with "perspective", you can always say I know a shit ton about MMA, but very little about Wrestling. While you know a lot about wrestling, and for sake of argument not very much about MMA. If we meet in a Wrestling debate, you win. If we move to MMA, I'd probably win. Who's better?

Perspective; what is it with you all and the whole "So and so is better then everyone?" shit?

What do you mean? Am I not allowed to form judgments on who is and isn't a good poster?

Excuse me, who are you to be inserting yourself into this conversation Brian? You've been here, what, nearly 4 years and you have 146 posts. You're the prime example of what Sly is talking about. You use WZ as MSN man. I personally don't have a problem with that, in fact I like you quite a bit Brian, you're a nice and good guy. But I'll decide who I believe is and isn't a good poster thank you very much, I can form my own opinions and I can share them as I see fit.

Well it's neither... We all have strengths. And those of us with those strengths will meet, discuss, and grow stronger. I feel safe saying the most well rounded poster here is X. I hope that everyone realizes that. Someday, I hope to find the shit he smokes, and get me an eighth. But, we all have our strengths. And those that are strong.... Well, we know who they are, and where the strength is at.

No I didn't, but excuse me Xfear. I like you a whole lot, but your opinions mean absolutely jack shit in a conversation about absolution. You stated Tenta was BETTER then Dave, whoever the hell that is. Good, you think that, it doesn't make it true, because I'm sure they'd go back and fourth over different debates. What I'm getting at isn't about your opinion, or mine, or Tentas, or Sly, or anyone's; its about the fact no ones "better" then anyone else, or the "best". Everyone has their moments.

And for the record; he's talking about shit posts with no intelligence mostly, I only fit half his criteria and most posts I make outside of the bar room are normally something decent, and not just a random blurb.

It's my fucking opinion Brian. This is a message board for people to express their opinions. I'll damn well express mine as I see fit, and who are you to tell me I shouldn't? If I posted it, odds are it's my opinion, isn't it? Well I think Tenta is the best poster on this forum right now. Don't like that opinion? I don't really give a fuck. You don't have to like it. I don't need your approval to express my opinion.

He's also talking about people that use WZ like it's MSN. Which you're the biggest culprit of.

I actually was open to what you had to say until you said WrestleCrap was a good journalism website. Besides a funny-ass forum, that place fucking blows, and I'd seriously like to see you bring in outside sources that say that this isn't so. The owners of that site went to a vanity press and had their shit ideas published because no publishing house with an iota of dignity and self-respect would print that rubbish.

So, please, if you want to tell me to get out of here with that bullshit, try to come up with a counterargument that isn't bullshit itself.

WrestleCrap is one of the most consistently humorous and well written wrestling journalism sites on the net right now TDigs. That's not saying much considering the wrestling journalism business is all but dead. Seriously, go find me 5 more humorous and well written wrestling websites than WrestleCrap.
