The Final Poll

Who Should Be The Next Mod?

  • The Crock

  • Dagger Dias

  • Coco The Monkey

Results are only viewable after voting.
If you look at the poll (which is the one that counts) you would think the forums are generally on Daggers side. But if you look at the past 60 pages, it says otherwise.

Lol, how many posters have voted in the polls? How many of those same people have actually posted in this thread?

Or it says that the same few people have been in this thread, discussing the topic ad nauseum.

Sidenote: If Crock and Coco were serious about the anti-Dagger movement, one of them should have planned to drop out prior to the vote. It seems to me that they're splitting the same voters (i.e. the anti-Dagger voters).

All right,

What's the total amount of rep points I'd get for voting for each of the candidates?

I believe there is over 200 being offered from the people supporting Coco. Way that up against the 10 you might get if all the Dagger posters put their support together. And the 0 you get from voting Crock, since he's thrown his support down for Coco.

This polls are great. Such entertainment.

Should make this a biannual event.

Go Politics!

And turd in bowl pics!

Why only 194 people have voted so far? Is this an indication that member's of this forum are not interested in this process?

By the way, yesterday I saw posts bashing Dagger Dias's supporters left right and center. But now since he is winning and by good margin, what does his supporters have to say now :)

So, we were expecting even lesser than that?

By looking at 'Member's List' portal of this site, I can make out that
-- there are over 1200 members who have logged-in in last 2 days
-- there are over 2500 members who have 1 or more than 1 rep

Why only so much people have shown their interest in voting?

That happens in just about every WZ tournament. People come here to talk about wrestling and mainly stay in the nonspam, wrestling section of the forums.

194 is a lot, not everyone that comes here visits every section, some log on only a handful of times & decide this place isn't for them, others are in the prison & can't post in other sections, there are plenty of reasons why not everyone that has an account has voted.

Or maybe it is not that simple.

-- may be, this tournament is not promoted properly. I got to knew about this tournament by a PM from Dagger Dias, otherwise I wouldn't be aware of it at first place. What were the steps taken by WZ to create awareness about this election? Even a weekly poll on the WZ home page gets more votes than this.

-- Or may be, there was never any demand for this election by a significant amount of people at first place.

Strange to see many people saying that they are surprised to see even these many votes

The main page is visited by millions of people a week. The forums aren't

This came as a surprise to everyone (except KB and Sly). They're allowed to do this if they want. comes with the boldly Italicized name

Most polls get nowhere near this amount of votes so the surprise is justified

Difference in the number of forum page views and main page views is not even 10 times. As per traffic tracking tools it is merely 5-6 times.

Question is : Is this poll just like any other poll, or if it has a special significance for WZ?

If Mods have cared much about this or had taken this seriously, then a PM to all the people reminding them about this Poll would have yielded much higher turnout.

Yeah, it's annoying when people say things that have already been said.

Thanks for repeating something so obvious that has been said before.

Sorry man, we get your point but if you want answers you are going to have to ask the admins.

But I don't expect they would appreciate being bothered.

Enough of us found the election months ago. It has its own section. I don't know why you couldn't find it or why others couldn't find it or why others don't care to get involved or vote. You're asking the wrong people your questions and giving the wrong people your suggestions.

I understand your questions and appreciate your curiosity, but maybe realize your understanding of things is a bit minimal compared to people that have been on the forums for quite a bit longer. People have their own interests, and these sections are generally not highly trafficked by the casual user. Most log on, comment about something wrestling related, and go on with their lives. Most phase it in a few months, or come back sparingly. Those who stay for years at a time start getting to know people and venture out further... Like you said, you wouldn't have found this if it weren't for a PM by Dagger.

One thing you have to understand is that the Wrestlezone main page and the Forums aren't connected by anything more than a name. I believe I am the only active Wrestlezone writer that uses the forums, with a few past writers that pop in from time to time. But I've been in the forums on this account and another for years, not just for the length of time that I've been working for the website. That being said, don't talk about our trafficking numbers like you actually know how it works out on paper. While it's not the millions and millions of viewers that Milenko seems to think we draw (although that would be awesome), we do get enough to bring in advertising revenue and pay people to keep doing what they do. THe forums also get considerable traffic.

In answer to your question, this poll is significant in that it is to elect a new moderator to the team. With almost 200 people voting, that is actually a good turn out. Most of our major polls get less than 100, and if we hit that it's a pretty good success. That's not really an issue, because I'd rather the experienced guys who know the forums and know the people running, be in charge of electing the next mod, rather than dozens of newer posters (no offense) who don't understand how the decision will effect things. Yes, I'm sure Sly could have PM'd all the members of the forum and reminded them to vote. And then we'd end up with a couple thousand votes, and whoever had the coolest name would win... This is an election that has been brewing for over a month, with multiple primaries. We took over a dozen guys and worked down to the final 3, had two rounds of debates, and now we are finally making a decision. A decision that would have likely ended with Coco winning, had Dagger not involved a couple dozen new posters that have no idea what they are voting on. But all's fair in love, war, and politics I suppose. You see why they'd be less interested in getting a few thousand people to cast their vote?

Stick around for awhile, learn how things work, and then you'd probably be less apt to try and poke holes in the system.

@George
I am not really looking for an answer to the question, but just trying to get general consensus of feeling among members here.
It is not about me (or anyone) not able to find 'election' section. It is more about what WZ admins are doing to promote a poll of this nature and significance. We can't expect a website user to observer/discover/keep-track of what new features a website shares every now and then.

Anyways, I guess Dagger Dias has almost done it, and the primary reason for that being his proactive promotion of himself.

@Green Ranger:
What makes us think that if Dagger Dias had not involved those couple of dozen posters, then voting would have been of highest quality?? Aren't you assuming that those who would have voted without asking would have given their vote knowing what they are doing?

But, Dagger Dias didn't forced me to vote him, he can't, right? He agreed to answer a question that I fired at him and he also took my opinion on the same. It wasn't exactly a 'Vote For Me' PM.
