No End in Sight
OK, so we all know about the WWE reviving the tag team division, and, after awhile, I began to think if it was a flop. Now, the WWE has 5 teams currently ( Air Boom, Awesome Truth, Swagger & Ziggler, Curt Hawkins & Tyler Reks & The Uso's.) and with Miz/Truth & Swagger/Ziggler involved in "Conspiracy" storyline, is the tag team division just going to go back to being irrelevant? . Thoughts?

It's too early to say that. I mean, change does not come overnight. Air Boom just held the titles recently and teams like awesome truth and ziggler/swagger are already an improvement to the sagging tag team division. Let's give them some time.

Calling something a flop that has barely even begun is stupid. With that said, my best guess is that it probably won't be any bigger of a success than the last few times they pretended to "revive" it. I doubt that will change for a long time, maybe when Triple H takes over the company for real. One of those cases where history is destined to repeat itself.

i think we need to give the tag division some time, because there are advances, like two months ago, there was no tag division, and now you have like 4 or 5, but the thing is, the tag champs are not losing to everyone like the prior champions were, so in this case there is a little improvement...

they just need time in order to really find out if this was a "Flop" or the real thing...

yeah i wouldn't consider it a flop just yet. there seems to be a few big storylines going on right now that involve a lot of talent, so no shock that it is put on the back burner, but i wouldnt consider it a fail just yet.

I was wondering if they would team Ryder with Mason Ryan for another team to go after Ziggler/Swagger after the 6 man tag.

Then Ryder could help Ryan with his inability to work the mic.

Maybe they still will ?

No. I think it;''s way too early to conclude the tag revival failed. The tag title are still in hand of air boom which makes it way more better than the last champion mcshittycutty and ostunga. Let's just hope they compete against other new teams and add some storylines to it.

Give it time FFS, WWE have done some pretty good things lately and the tag belts are pretty much being defended regularly so no it's not a flop if anything they're doing great.

I agree with some of the others; it's too early to tell. Air boom has only been champs for a month. Then it takes time to develop tag teams; there's no territory system for teams to groom themselves and build a solid wrestling following (not an Internet following). Unless WWE bring in ready made tag teams with experience; it's gonna take time to develop some. They probable start building those teams in FCW instead of trying to develop so many singles wrestlers.

True. If they just keep send ing the same teams it'll be boring and the majority will lose interest. And granted, I may have jumped the gun on calling it a flop.

I'm going with consensus because, quite frankly, the consensus is correct. Air Boom have only been champs for a month, which is really how long the renewed relevance of tag team wrestling in WWE has gone on.

Overall, I think Air Boom have done a good job as champs thus far. They've gotten fans interested in the tag title picture again, which is never a bad thing, and have had some actual relevant title defenses on ppvs. When's the last time that happened with the tag titles?

Oh sure, there's still work to be done but, people, Rome wasn't built in a day and neither will the WWE's tag team picture. They've made good progress so far, so even thinking it's a flop at this point is ludicrous.

It's way too early to consider it a flop in my opinion. So far the tag division is improving, but still has a way to go. I doubt the tag division will ever be as prominent as it once was in the eighties through mid to late nineties. Or the revival in late 1999 to early 2000''s with E and C, Hardys and Dudleys. That was the last time tag team titles really meant something. At least the tag titles are being defended on PPV more often now making them look important. Will it last only time will tell but chances are it wont. If history has taught us anything.

Like everybody else, I think you should be much more patient. What did you expect to happen after 2 months? instant prestige!? Come on man, give it time to grow and we'll talk about this in a year

Only have to contribute what has already been said.. have some patience, something that broke can not be fixed over night.

I want teams to develop over months and actually become believable as a team and not just two individuals chucked together and thenafter a few weeks have horrible Title runs. . It will take time for a good group of Tag Teams to make a decent Tag division. I hope the WWE bring in a few already developed teams from outside the WWE aswell as produce their own.

You cant have a tag team revival, when you don't have any real tag teams.

The Uso's are the ONLY Real tag team in the WWE. And with the one getting a DUI their time might be coming to an end soon...

I don't care if Bourne and Kingston hold the titles, Air-Boom isn't a real tag team.

Neither is Miz and Truth aka Awesome-Truth.

Swagger and Ziggler are NOT a tag team. Ziggler is the US Champion FFS, and should be in solo programs with other guys looking to win that title, not in a tag team with Swagger

These are classic examples of two guys tossed together because the WWE is lazy and doesn't want to take the time to produce real teams anymore.

Impatience is something the IWC has an issue with

You cant wait for something to change, you want it now. It hasnt failed, the Divas and Tag Divisions are going through evident transitions and the best you ALL can do as fans is support them, this is what Punk mentioned recently and what the IWC's main problem is

bitch online with no action taken in real life

You people can't sit there and whine about the tag team revival calling it a flop when it has only just barely started. What's next, is someone going to post next week about how Del Rio has flopped his current WWE Championship reign already? Air Boom are great as champions and WWE is looking for new teams to add. The tag team revival is not a flop because it is far too early to call it that. This is still ongoing and there is plenty more to be done. If we were over a year into the process and nothing has changed, then that would be a flop. Give it time.

If you go watch NXT lately, you will see that the place is full of tag teams, and it would be great to have them get involved in the title picture.

Air Boom Swagger and Ziggler just had one of the best tag team matches on WWE tv in fucking ages. I don't think it's a flop at all. Give it time for christ sake. Plus to folk saying their not a 'team'... How not? Some of the best tag teams have just been put together... When it doesn't work is when they just team for a month lose the titles and then go their separate ways. This might still happen but it hasn't yet. Beer Money for one.

The tag team "revival" just started, so it's WAY too early to be saying that it "flopped". I think they've actually come a long way in the past few months with the belts. Instead of the bland and boring Otunga and McGillicutty holding the titles and making a rare appearances every few weeks, you have Kofi Kingston and Evan Bourne. At the very least they are two over Superstars getting better as a team every single week. THe best part is they appear on both Raw and Smackdown every week and either defend the titles or at least have a singles match. The Miz and Truth have also done extremely well getting over as a heel duo. I'm just guessing the reason they attacked the tag team champions was because they will be involved with them again soon.

The Usos are so good, but they really need to be used. It didn't help that one of them just got arrested for DUI... But hey, Alex Riley did it! With the Kings of WRestling still reportedly coming to the WWE, don't count them out just yet. They've already made great improvements to the division since the "revival" started.

It hasn't been long enough yet to determine. The tag champs aren't losing as much as the former champs. They are getting mic time and a few more teams have shown up. Put the titles on the line in a regular basis and keep giving them mic and ring time.

I read three Lines in this book just now; opinion of it? Dumb. In all seriousness though it would be stupid (I'm not calling you, the poster stupid just the idea) and quite premature to give your final opinion on some thing that is not done yet. I'd say we can wait til sometime next year to review this.

I can't really say anything that hasn't already been said. The tag team "revival" has only started. Air Boom winning the titles is only the first step and they've been doing a good job so far. Word is that WWE is looking sign some fresh blood to expand the tag team division which should definitely be something to look forward to. Have some patience. Rome wasn't built in a day, remember?

i think eventually it will get better but for the weeks to come, i dont think so. When we see big show and kane come back, mahal and khali (if he doesnt quit), and newly formed teams, then we'll talk. I wouldn't mind seeing Barrett and Mcintyre as tag champs

I think the tag titles have been a joke ever since Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio lost them, sure, we had MNM and the Heidenreich Warriors, and on RAW there was ... the spirit squad... but since the Hardys lost them, it has been just a distraction for main eventers (John Cena and HBK/Batista) Hopefully things start turning up, and tag team returns to it's own division instead of guys being thrown together (Mizsho, Jerisho, Edge and Jericho) just for the hell of it, I don't expect it to be the TLC Hardys/E&C/Dudleys, but anything is better than what we have now.
