Summerslam 2013- CM Punk VS Brock Lesnar

This one sold Summerslam for me, the build up, feud, storyline progression, mic work and even the pysical confrontations have been excellent, I don't remember such a great build up that didn't involve the WWE championship.

It's going to be a physical and a very intense match where obviously and definitely Punk will be the underdog. It has come to my atention their last encounter on Raw, since Punk needed a foreign object in orden to "slay" Lensar. I think that it is strong possiblity for this match to NOT have a clean finish. In fact I could see Punk getting his ass kicked all over the place, having from time to time some offensive until a point where Punk snaps and picks a chair or something like that and beats the shit out of Lesnar, and obviously getting DQ.

Dagger said that there is no reason for have a re match between these two, and he's probably right, but man I would love to see a rematch and Punk decisively winning.

Onto the winner of the match, I'm not sure, I would love to see Punk beating him, but part of me thinks that Lesnar is going to destroy him putting this way a rematch.

Great match, I can't think of the outcome...

I'm very excited about this match. It should be a classic not just for the storyline involved. I think Lesnar wins, after Axel gets involved. Punk could have a match or two with Axel and Punk would get his rematch with Lesnar at either Hell in a Cell or Survivor Series.

Insane match. Ton of emotion, brutal, hot crowd. Loved the storytelling of Punks heart, ingenuity, and technique vs Brock's animalistic raw strength. The side story of Punk caring more about Heyman than Lesnar. Fantastic classic match.

Great matchup! The reason I got the ppv. I think everyone loved this match. Sadly the wrong guy won! (Yeah just my opinion)

Oh yeah I was hoping this would be best of 3. I am huge punk fan so I always want to see him win. I was hoping they would have him win this one, then lose at one other ppv. Then have the "tiebreaker at Survivor series".

Still not disappointed, it was a great match to watch.

Again why though? WWE wants to present itself as a real "fake" sport. It wants the fans to believe in the drama. We all sit here and argue about how it needs to be more "realistic" but at the same time it's "entertainment."

Everyone is happy to accept disbelief when Rey Mysterio beats people that tower over him. But Punk can't beat Brock convincingly because what? It's not realistic? It's not realistic in a "fake" sport. I've stated plenty of ways it can look "realistic" without harming either one of them.

Case Point if we're all going to complain about actual fights and their outcomes - Royce Gracie beat Dan Severn in a real fight. Dan Severn, a 260lbs amateur wrestler and all round moustachiod good guy trounced poor little Royce for about 14 minutes, then Royce went serious business and got his Popeye strength up and choked out our beloved 70's porn star looking veteran out with a triangle hold.

Was that realistic? You're damn right it was. It was also entertaining, shocking to the fans, and an all around good fight.

Punk/Lesnar can't do that? Why? Because it's not "realistic" in a "fake" sport?

You want entertainment, you all know wrestling is a pre-planned environment, you all know it's smoke and mirrors. Yet you want realism with it?

Nobody is saying Punk has to beat Brock punch for punch, hell he can't do that, and it would look daft. But Punk wearing down Brock over the course of the match and using stamina to overcome brute strength? How is that not "realistic?"

Hi, may I ask of your opinion regarding Brock Lesnar's victory over Punk? ;)

I for one am very happy that WWE did this right.

I would dare to say that the match was so well done that Punk's lost won't hurt him a bit. It's too good to hurt anyone.

While I was initially tuned off by the idea of Punk losing this match, that was before the match itself happened. This was a genuine match of the year competitor and both men worked their asses off. Punk was booked to look like an absolute beast in this match and he more than held his own against Lesnar. The fact that Punk lost, due in no small part to Heyman's interference, is an indicator that there will be another match between them somewhere down the line. Given the quality of this brawl, there really should be as it was, quite possibly, the best match of Lesnar's career.

I don't think Punk lost anything as a result of Lesnar going over. If anything, I think he might only have benefitted. The Los Angeles crowd certainly seemed to think so. The fact that CM Punk, little ol' 210 pound guy that some say wasn't "believable" as an opponent for Lesnar, had Lesnar several times during the match came out looking stronger than he did coming in.

Fantastic match. Watching Lesnar during this comback of his has been a treat. He has to be the only guy in the WWE that never puts up his hands when his opponent strikes them. Seeing all those punches and kicks land on Brock just made the match that much better. Great back and fourth and Brock landing the F-5 on the chair looked great.

MOTY right now for me, it just came off like a fight not a bunch of staged spots, it was brutal without being needlessly dangerous, both guys work was first rate and it told one of the best stories I've seen in a wrestling ring, the beastliness of Brock vs the variety of Punk's offense and his heart was perfectly paced and executed.

Brock and Punk came off as perfect foils for each other and the crowd response validated that, it was electric in the Staples Center and the angle was so well built that even in 2013 the crowd were 100% behind the underdog face and against the UFC badass monster.

At times when done right a pro wrestling match can draw you in and take you on a journey that makes you a a 10 year old who doesn't know terms like work and angle and other wrestling "insider" words, that's when it's magic and that was what this match was IMO.

Incredible. Just incredible.

I already knew the results before the match happened, and I was still on the edge of my seat. This match had everything you could ask for: drama, brutality, and action. Lesnar completely mauled Punk throughout the match, but Punk just kept fighting back, as the underdog, who wouldn't die. And Punk let his vendetta with Paul Heyman get the best of him, which cost him the match in the end. I had no idea, who would come out on top, and I seriously believed Punk was close to forcing Lesnar into a tap out. I really hope they do a rematch with these two, possibly at Wrestlemania XXX, so Punk can have grand moment of triumph over Heyman at the big show.

The counters, the GTS, the near falls. The suspense towards the end of this match was just unreal. An easy MOTY candidate as others have said. And I have no shame in saying I was wrong about the worries of size difference between these two, because Punk was able to hold his own with Lesnar, and even with Heyman sticking his nose where it didn't belong, Punk still gave Lesnar one hell of a fight to the very end.

So much for the "Punk isn't a believable opponent for Lesnar" arguments, although the only thing in the match that I felt wasn't believable was Punk's triangle choke on Lesnar. Punk didn't have it locked in properly on Lesnar and even if he had, I thought Brock could've lifted Punk up for a powerbomb and broken out of it easily within seconds. Instead Brock was in it for a while and looked like he was considering tapping. Still though, the match, the storytelling and the psychology were all great. I was expecting a Cena vs. Brock like match here but Punk held his own against the Beast and I loved it. MoTY candidate for sure along with Bryan vs. Cena.

On Raw tonight or next week, I think Lesnar should break Punk's arm with the Kimura so it can add even more fuel to the feud. Plus it would give Punk and Lesnar an excuse to take off Night Of Champions cause they aren't champions and I don't see a rematch between the two taking place there, it needs a bigger stage like Hell in a Cell, Survivor Series or Wrestlemania. Hopefully HIAC or Survivors though.
