Strikeforce: Tate vs Rousey

Also, very good pre-screening of fighters there, Scott Coker......

Welterweight Brandon Saling fought (and lost to Roger Dowling) with what looked to be a Neo-nazi tattoo, an "88" that in some circles means "Heil Hitler" -- 'h' is the eighth letter of the alphabet -- and with a criminal record. According to this newspaper account, Saler was indicted in 2004 on charges of unlawful sexual conduct when he was 18, "an alleged rape of a person under 13."

Rousey's striking is a major problem but her Judo and grappling definitely cover up the apparent holes in her game.

She's se damn good at submissions and grappling, I mean she pretty much owned Tate who's impressive as fuck on the ground and at takedowns. Plus it helps that she's hot hot hot!

She has a great chin, though. Tate, who supposedly hits hard, hit her with some bombs and none of them even came close to phasing Rousey.

Her chin, plus the fact that there won't be one chick who will be able to keep her from taking them down, should be enough to keep her lack of skills in the stand-up department irrelevant.

It's hard to tell how she'll be able being hit hard. Sarah Kaufman will hit her really hard at least once before she gets taken down and subbed. We'll see how she handles it.

Ronda is really lucky that Cyborg and Marloes Coennen aren't around right now. Cyborg would be the one chick who could shrug off the takedowns long enough to murk her on the feet, and Coennen has good enough jitz to avoid being armbarred once the fight does hit the ground.

There's a pretty serious problem with depth in the women's classes in Strikeforce. Mehtinks they're going to need to look outside the promotion to find here suitable opponents.
