South Park Season 19 discussion

Don't get me wrong, I love South Park in any format. But the last two seasons have really hit my funny bone when it comes to continuity. We all like to see some sort of "pay-off" when it comes to TV shows and Parker and Stone have been giving us that the last few seasons. I get that there is a mid-season break and all that. But surely this could have been done sooner? Anyone else agree?

They never needed continuity. South Park comes from the 90's, when continuity generally didn't exist in comedy. Stuff like the Simpsons and Seinfeld were completely episodic, apart from minor subplots that would pop up occasionally.

But over the last decade serial shows have become huge, and South Park adapted. They took their time getting there, but the show has finally evolved, while the Simpsons continues its downward spiral of mediocrity.

With that said, I understand Parker and Stone's reluctance to change. Why mess with a winning formula that's worked for 20 odd years?

"I used to be the only Policeman in this town, remember?"

It's been awhile since we've seen Barbrady hasn't it? Was good seeing him again. How fucking sad were he and his dog?

I think his last proper role was in "about last night" but he's had a few cameos (ass burgers is last I remember which was still 4 years ago).

Someone was cutting onions in my house last night, but I persevered.

Reminded me way too much of my sheltie when I was a kid. When he was 15 he was nearly blind, pretty much deaf, and just slept all day. Could just see the years weighing heavy on him.

One night he got up, as if he was young again, came up to me and barked, pressed up against my hand to be petted before circling in front of the door. I let him outside, and he took off, never saw him again. Couldn't even find a trace of him in the open field near my house. It's like he said it's time to go and goodbye to me.

Fucking onions again man.

It's amazing how the first episode of this season nailed exactly what's happening right now on college campuses all across the country. Missouri is literally about to get their own PC Principal, lol.

Jesus Ty....I wasn't ready for that story man. I wasn't ready.

Manly tears.

Loving this season so far, even if some people aren't digging the continuity stuff I personally am, I like seeing a show evolve. I'll be really happy if we keep seeing Barbrady because he was always one of my favorite characters from the early years.

I've been seeing tidbits about this on Tumblr and Facebook, something about Halloween costumes? Or was that a different college?

Also I loved the cliffhanger at the end of last night's episode and immediately wanted to know more. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT THAT LITTLE BITCH LESLIE IS UP TO.

Glad to see the PC angle is about to be wrapped up. Some really funny storylines came out of it, but PC Principle is getting very annoying to me. The Jimmy/PC Principle scenes were hilarious though I have to admit.

I thought Nathan and PC Principle were going to team up to take down Jimmy. Maybe that is still a possibility for the next episode.

What an episode. Had the perfect balance of the usual south park comedy and story progression/action. Hoping the payoff is as good as the build up has been

Oooh interesting episode. Glad to see Victoria back in the frame.

This is probably the first time I've ever watched South Park and had the reaction I did when the episode ended.

"That's it? No!"

Game of Thrones hasn't provided me as much suspense last season as this season of South Park has.

I had it with Coon and friends but yeah this was up there.

Eh I was never big on the Coon episodes.

Sounds like a good one this week, going to watch it shortly.

Decent episode. Not many laughs, but plenty of interesting plot stuff. The season-long arc has been such a good idea. A good way to progress with what will likely be South Park's final seasons.

I'm guessing the silence in this thread means pretty much everyone feels the same way I do about the finale... it was a big pile of meh.

I enjoyed the gun show as Westminster but other than that the episode was all over the place and I think they had a lot of trouble figuring out how to tie everything together and put out their message.

I still loved the season overall regardless of the disappointing finale.

Yeah, it all seemed to end far too quickly, total anti-climax. And as smart as all the gun stuff was, I didn't really find any laugh out loud moment. Apart from Classi, who was pretty awesome.

They lost me on Mackey. It was basically "yeah it was me mmmk." End of story arc.

The season was great, but this felt like it was missing thirty minutes.

I think they took too long to establish everything earlier in the season and didnt have enough time left. The gun control stuff fell flat for me, especially when I feel like there will be mouthbreathers that think they were trying to say guns are good. It all just felt rushed and after the brilliant build it was just 'I see what you did there' and didnt get anywhere

I did like it but didn't at the same time, just a bit bleugh. I hate PC Principal. He can fuck off.
