South Park Season 16 Discussion

I watched half of the first season. It's terrible. They are the Tyler Perry of Comedy Central.

I don't believe they're anywhere near as horrible as Tyler Perry and the movie/shows he's made. It's not terrible but since it's not even one of my favorite shows there's no reason to continue arguing this in a South Park thread.

No. It's absolute garbage. It, along with Workaholics, are just skating by due to the leftover viewers from Tosh and South Park.

Opinions aside none of those shows aren't skating by on anything. Yeah Workaholics of course goes after the audience watching Tosh and K&P go after South Park viewers but that's how you market television. New shows do it all the time and that's how they grow in popularity. The ratings are good for each show and with Comedy Central lacking original content I don't see either going away for awhile.

They are totally getting by off of Tosh's and South Park's leftovers. That's why ratings drop nearly a full point after the original show ends.

Key and Peele is no different from Chocolate News or any of the shitty shows Tyler Perry has on TBS. Or better yet, any of the shitty shows on TBS. They do impressions, man. If it wasn't for dude's spot on Obama impersonation that show would have been laughed out of the line-up. They're fake comedians, guys who do wacky voices and characters to make up for their lack of original ideas.

Guarantee that if they move the show to a night where it doesn't have a ratings giant going on first, they'll get canceled in a season.

Yeah I'm not arguing for the show anymore, I'm not going to change your opinion and you're not changing mine. I'm trying to tell you that marketing new shows after already established shows is what every television station does. Tosh.0 premiered after South Park a couple years back and people thought it was shit and just raking in left over viewers and it was and when Comedy Central thought it would do well on it's on they moved it to a new night and it's been successful (for the most part I guess) since. Whatever television show you like, it most likely started off picking up the scraps of an already popular show. Whether K&P gets cancelled if they move to a new night we'll see but CC knows that it's still doing well after South Park.

Yeah, Tosh.0 premiered on June 4th, 2009. A Thursday. It had no lead in. Not South Park or anything else. Then out of nowhere, it started getting higher ratings than The Daily Show and The Colbert report. Tosh made it on it's own merit.

Therefore, everything else in your post is irrelevant.

I lost it during the rascal tipping

That was great.

Hilarious episode. The Bane gang was awesome, and everyone's insecurities was fantastic. More good stuff, no doubt.

Easily the funniest episode in quite a while. I fucking loved it.

I just found it to be a somewhat hypocritical episode. South Park has always been hit or miss. This one started out with some promise but it was a miss for me.

I'm know I'm late on this, but I feel the need to address it anyway.

South Park clearly criticized themselves in this episode. In Kyle's speech at the end, he pointed it out "maybe it started with us" and "maybe it's our fault," among a couple of other sentences like that. The irony wasn't lost on Matt and Trey that they have been a huge contributing factor in "lowering the bar" themselves and this episode was obviously just another example. They still have as much intelligent humor and social commentary as any comedy and animated show as there's ever been, but it still doesn't work without the dumbed down stuff either, and you can tell they're a bit ashamed over the extra miles they've gone to give us the childish stupid humor that the show needs to keep a large portion of its fanbase.

Easily the best episode so far this year. It's been a long time since I've felt an episode hit on everything for the entire show.

I can't wait for tonight. A Butters centered episode has to be awesome. Like it can't not be, because Butters is amazing.

I didn't get the underlining joke but it was an allright episode.

Decent episode, wasn't as good as last week and didn't have the greatest underlining joke which is probably why there's not much discussion on it. I like Butters/Kenny based episodes but I don't think they should ever be the two to highlight an episode again.

It had potential. I thought the beginning was going to be awesome. Then the whole Hawaii thing was meh. Though Butters sinking that ship with a well placed tee shot was pretty good. Overall it was decent.

I loved Kenny's internal voice, and Butters flipping out was great.

"On the morrow...? What the fuck is wrong with Kenny?"

pretty bleh otherwise though

For some reason, I just couldn't focus on it. I still have it on the DVR so I'll try and watch it again, but I just wasn't in the mood last night.

I went to Hawaii for my honeymoon. I can't really explain it but tourists kind of go there and start wearing the clothes and trying to speak the language like they are natives. My wife said the episode had some connection to Twilight.

"I saw this chick in a bikini on the beach, too. She had the nicest boobs ever. Humbly Yours, Kenneth."
