Signs of Life for Drew McIntrye?

Its no secret I am a huge Drew mark but this is the same thing they did to MVP not too long ago which makes me frightened. Drew should NEVER be face. It is counter to his character and they have given us nothing to show how he could have face qualities. He could become that heel that everyone loves but please. keep him heel and he can do wonders for a smackdown so desperate for heels Jinder Mahal is still around!

This is basically an angle designed to re-introduce everyone to McIntyre and subsequently get McIntyre over as a face. That's the inevitability of it in my eyes. That's not a bad thing by any means though. Drew needs something to change and a face turn might just be the ticket. SmackDown needs a surplus of faces and it's getting a little low with Bryan and/or Show (remember, Bryan could turn now and Show may turn later to face Shaq at Mania) becoming villains in the near future.

The door is open for McIntyre to try and become one of the bigger faces of SmackDown and I think it's a role that could re-invigorate him. A spot at Mania could even be waiting in a Money in the Bank esc match, and somebody's going to need to take that Intercontinental Championship off of Cody Rhodes before he can step up be involved in the World Heavyweight Championship picture. The future is looking okay for Drew in all honesty. As long as they don't just lose interest and shit-can him of course.

I'm thinking this is just an easy way for WWE to give him a push. I mean, the fans will probably get behind him in his next match and if he retains his job, he'll be able to build on that. I'm assuming WWE probably believes in Drew McIntyre and for good reason. He's still not great, but he's got the size, the look, and most of the talent, he just needs to package that together and put some polish on it. He's got one hell of a long way to go, but he has shown flashes of brilliance in the past. His appearance in the Elimination Chamber for the World Heavyweight Championship last year showcased that, as he showed some real intensity and improvement in that match. If he can keep that up, then I can definitely see him making his way up the ladder and living up to all the potential that he has.

From this point on, any small thing will help him. A win here or there and just regularly appearing on Smackdown can do wonders for him and building the fans' confidence in him. He's a good talent who could bring some life to the midcard scene and separate himself as one of the main contenders for Cody Rhodes' Intercontinental Championship. It won't be an instantaneous process, but it's very conceivable. A losing streak storyline, especially one where someone's job is on the line, is a great way to generate sympathy and compassion from the crowd -- even making a future heel run much easier. Drew just needs to keep working hard and the WWE needs to keep pushing him.
