Should Drew McIntrye ask for a release from the WWE?

It would be ludicrous for him to quit even if he isn't being used much. At the end of the day he still gets a good paycheck and quitting the biggest wrestling company in the world in order to work a lot more dates and get paid a lot less money is just asinine.

He isn't big enough on his own to make a better living anywhere else so he should feel fortunate to have such a good paycheck doing so little, I know I would. There's a reason very few wrestlers in WWE request their release to work somewhere else no matter their stance. It would be like quitting the NBA because you don't play much, who cares? You are still playing on the highest possible level and getting paid a shitload.

Drew has already said he isn't going to renew his contract if he isn't given an opportunity so that shows he actually cares about wrestling.

Here's the thing and there is no getting round it... Not EVERYONE gets the big push... think back to guys like Big Bossman, Jake Roberts, Greg Valentine. Those guys were employed for years, moved up and down the card but never really got title matches or main event push... Yet they are among the more memorable guys of the past.

Drew could easily be in that role for many years, that he hasn't been released means WWE know what they have, but the problem is people now expect a World title within 3 years or they've failed or are "not getting opportunity". IF Vince (or more likely Trips) renews with Drew, it'll be because he's a consistantly improving worker who has taken his "shit" just as Trips did. Saying "I'm not gonna renew" is a bad move if it's just about not getting a World title.

NO!!! What I would like them to do, which is wishful thinking on my part, is put him in a stable with CM Punk, The Miz, and Wade Barrett. With Punk's heel turn, this is the perfect time to give these guys some much needed exposure. Punk is upset that His WWE Championship is being overshadowed, The Miz needs to get some steam back and bring importance back to the IC Title, and McIntyre and Barrett need something important to do. This stables main objective is to get the respect they rightfully deserve. Give Barrett and McIntyre the tag team titles and this stable could be huge.
