Shows that you love

LadyFranchise

The H.B.I.C
Entourage
Ari Gold is GOD. Period. That's all there is to it. You would think that after 4 and a half seasons, the guy would run out of one liners and jokes, but they just keep on coming. Drama is pretty damn funny too. The only person I really can't stand on the show is Eric. Anyway, awesome show. One of the best comedies on TV in quite some time.

The L word
I usually cannot stand chick shows but I love this show. All the main characters are multi dimensional. The acting is done very well and it can be quite hilarious as times also.

The Cobert Report

Probably the only news-like show I can bear to watch, if it qualifies as new at all. One things for sure though: Its damn hilarious. Colbert takes politics, a boring and repetitious subject, and turns it into something that's actualy funny and interesting. He also manages to tackle real issues without sounding like a biased ******** (Like the people at Fox News). Politics will never be the same again.

That 70's Show

I know this show's been done for a while, but they still show it on certain channels. That being said, this show was easily the highlight of my day, and at times it still is. It doesn't matter how many times I hear Red Foreman call someone a "dumbas," or how many times Fez fails at getting laid, it never gets old to me. I could watch the same episodes over and over again and still laugh hysterically.

I don't watch any TV anymore since I have came to University(except Hockey)but these are the shows I loved:

1. Big Brother: I'm addicted. I watch every summer, and every summer I find myself glued to this show. I don't watch the live feeds like some, but I'm still a huge fan. I like the manipulation that the contestants do to each other. I like the competition and the backstabbing. I just find it interesting to watch a group of strangers trying to co-exsit for 500 K.

2. American Idol: I have watched since season 2, and each year I follow it religiously. I love the first set of auditions where they make fun of the bad singers, but I also really like it when they get to the top 12. I always root for my favorites which keeps me invested in the show. I also tend to download many of the performance they are that good.

3. Lost: Pretty much the only scripted television show that I watched religiously. The whole plot is very strange and even though they have gotten to a point where you find some of the twists to be ridiculous I still love to watch. The characters for the most party have great depth and are easily rooted for and the mysterious of the island and now the flashforwards add great puzzles for the show.

4. Video on Trial: It's a Canadian TV show, where a group of 5 comedienes pretty much tear apart music videos and than judge them. Some of the comediens are hilarious(Debra DiGiovanni, Nikki Payne, Ron Sparks, Sabriana Julis, and the hot Nicole Arbor). Some of the jokes make me lol, which is rare since I don't find most things funny.

Lost

Everybody loves Lost, right? Its got an extremely complex plot that somehow makes sense, even if you don't understand how it makes sense. I love trying to figure out the answers to the different questions that the show brings up, and there is so much detail in the character's backstory's. The flashbacks/flashforwards aloow them to add even more to the plot, something other TV shows can't do. Its a good workout for the brain trying to follow the plot, and not many TV shows actually make you think, which sets Lost apart.

Australian Idol

Up until last year, I watched it every single night, and voted every single night. I would watch the start for the laughs at the auditions, and then it was good seeing what songs the top 12 would pick. I also get some good songs to download from the series as well. I missed the start of this years series, and i've been busy with homework and other things, so I haven't really been able to watch it this year, but I will probably watch it next year.

90210
Holy shit, this is a good show. I really was doubtful that they were going to pul if off- and in truth, I watched the first episode completely ready to bash it and I fell in love. For anyone who watched the original Beverly Hills 90210 (yeah, I'm showing my age), this show rocks. They successfully tied in some of the old characters and kept the edginess of the show.

Married... with Children.

I know it's fairly old, but I only started watching it last year. Amazing old school comedy. It was shown every night here on Australian cable last year, but for some reason they unfortunately don't show it anymore. It is just hilarious is every way. My parents saw it on TV and told me it was good. I just assumed it was an 80's comedy that was funny back then, but just wasn't funny in the modern era. I was very wrong.

It's just a simple show with a family who don't get on very well. There's Peggy who has amazing long bright red hair and drools over any man she sees, despite being married. Theres Bud and Kelly who are the children but are about 16 and 18 respectively. Bud is the 'pimp' of the family and is overly confident that thinks he can attract any hot woman he sees. Kelly is your typical dumb blonde who is good looking, and wears ****ty clothes. But Al Bundee is one of the funniest TV characters to ever grace a television set. He is the father of the family and is hilarious in every way. He's outrageously stupid, but words really can't describe how well the man plays his role in the show.

If you haven't seen the show yet, I suggest you rent it on DVD or something. You most likely wont laugh at the first episode, but once you understand the roles of each of the different characters, it will be a very humerous and a very enjoyable TV show. I love this show and was amazing by the great acting and also the simply but effective storylines.

Rove:For the people who don't know who or what Rove is. Rove is a person who hosts a comedy, variety talk show with different segments such as These Things We Love, Help Me Hughsey etc. He is pretty funny and sometimes has some great guests and comedians on there. A couple of times in the year he will host his shows from winning contestants street. He is basically the Australian David Letterman.

Keeping Up Appearances:Pure British comedy. I find this show hilarious. I love British comedy and think this is a great example of it. It's about the Hyasinth (Can't remember how to spell it) and Richard Bucket, although Hyasinth pronounces it Bouquet, like a wedding bouquet because she wants to appear posh. One example of her wanting to feel upper class is Richard gets a fungal infection in between his toes and Hyasinth makes him tell people it's Gout and it comes from good living, it doesn't sound funny on here, you just have to watch it.

Balls of Steel:Another great British show. Personal favourites are The Annoying Devil, Alex Zane and The Black Militant Guy. If you havn't seen it, then I suggest you check out The Annoying Red Devil on youtube, don't watch the Italian stuff, that stuff sucks. British one is the best.

And obviously......

WWE:The main reason I am on this forum, to discuss wrestling. Without wrestling, I probably would have a lot more spare time as I watch it lots and talk about it lots. I've been watching it for about 8 or 9 years, WCW is what got me into it though.

There are more, but I just chose those which I don't think have been mentioned and Tim, you better watch it next year, for me :D

I've become a huge TV geek over the last few years, which could help explain my lack of interest in all things current wrestling wise (still watch old episodes of RAW and Nitro + old PPVs on WWE 24/7). These are some of the reasons why I'm stuck inside glued to a TV many nights.

The X-Files - Still probably my favorite television show of all time. The only other show that could compare to it in my book is the next show I'll talk about. What do you really need to say about the X-Files? It was a cultural phenomenon and a sci-fi/horror geek's wet dream. David Duchovny's portrayal of Fox Mulder is one of the greatest characters in all of science-fiction in my opinion. Not much else you can say about the X-Files except that it was one of the most intelligent, well-written, and above all engrossing television series ever created. Chris Carter doesn't ever have to create another piece of work and will still be regarded as a Sci-Fi legend.

Lost - I've only been watching this show for around a year or so now, but my god this show has quickly rocketed to the very top of my all time favorite shows list. Everything in this show is amazing, the acting, the writing, the directing, the atmosphere, the music, everything. This, more then any other show, has left me with my jaw wide open at the conclusion of many an episode. Never before have I seen a show that is so incredibly engrossing; you watch one episode fully to the end, and the ending of each episode will leave you usually wide-eyed, jaw open, saying "WHAT THE FUCK?!" and demanding that the next episode be played. You just have to know. Absolute genius show, and never before have I seen a show that so easily mixed every genre known to man. Drama, horror, sci-fi, suspense, comedy, romance, action, you name the genre and odds are that Lost has incorporated many of it's elements into the show. This show will live on forever as one of the most beloved and for having one of the most loyal and rabid fanbases ever.

The Twilight Zone - No show terrified me, or shocked me, as a child more then the original Twilight Zone created by another all time legend of sci-fi/horror, Rod Serling. There are so many classic episodes of this show it's just downright ridiculious, as if the huge influence this show has had on all of pop culture since. Most people probably have seen countless parodies or rip-offs of Twilight Zone episodes in their lives, hell a good 1/3rd of all the Simpson's Treehouse of Horror parodies are based off of TZ episodes. No show has ever utilized the twist ending better then the Twilight Zone.

Tales From the Crypt - Another show that had me jumping 10 feet across the room to my bed at nights in fear of what was under it as a kid. I remember staying up late with my father watching classic episodes of this show, and always finding a mixture of horror and comedy in a perfect blend. Every horror geek could tell you the massive impact that the original EC comics had on the world of horror as we know it. You'll be hard pressed to find a better show to watch when you and your buddies just want to hang out, get drunk, and have fun.

Star Trek (Original, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, & Voyager. Fuck Enterprise.) - What can one truly say about the massive and astounding world canon created by all of these great series? I won't go very much into detail here because then I'll end up writing 10 pages alone on the original series. Needless to say, I've become a hardcore Trekkie this year, fully plunging myself into unabashed nerd-dom. I'm only a comic-book collection away from never getting laid again. All I have to say is that if you even mildly enjoy science-fiction, you had better sit your ass down and give Star Trek a chance. I'm insanely glad that I did. (And I also must comment on how underrated Voyager was. Gets lumped too often into the "bad Star Trek" pile and very undeservedly so.)

Freaks & Geeks - By far the greatest show to ever chronicle high-school life. You want realism? Fuck 90210, you better sit down and catch the mind-numbingly brilliant show that was Freaks & Geeks. Never before has a TV show made me feel nostalgic for a period of time that I didn't even grow up in (the show was set in 1980). Hilarious and heart-breaking, this is the show that jump started the careers of ALL of the big current comedy players. This is where Judd Apatow, Seth Rogen, and James Franco all got their breakouts. Seriously, do yourself a favor even if you've never seen the show and just go but the Complete Series DVD (it's something like 40 or 50 bucks). You will NOT be disappointed.

Honorable Mentions: Fringe, Family Guy, South Park, 3rd Rock From the Sun, Spin City, 24, C.S.I., The Office, The Simpsons, My So Called Life(and yes, I do feel gay for mentioning it but it was a genius show), the Wonder Years, That 70s Show, Millenium, Dexter, Tales From the Darkside, Friday the 13th: The Series.

Probably forgot a bunch.

Seinfeld: Seinfeld is a show about nothing, and it pulls it off so well. There have been a few shows ever since the final episode of Seinfeld aired that tried to pull off the show about nothing, and failed miserably. There's only one Seinfeld.

Scrubs: My favorite show, hands down. I have seen every episode.. literally. Season 1-7. Every single episode in between. The internet is an evil tool, my friend.

Heroes
I Cannot beleive this is reply number 9 to this topic and heroes has not been mentioned once! this show is amazing on more levels then anything I have ever watched. After watching last week's I felt I needed to watch season 1 all over again, the plot is brilliant, the charicters are immense and every week there is something new

Wire in the blood
I'm sure I've mentioned this show on this forum before - amazing. Robson green owns the roll of Tony Hill. Imagine CSI without all the gadgets and you have Wire in the blood. Amazing show and Tony is a brilliant charicter

Family Guy
This show is what my brain would be if it were turned in to a TV show, I love some of the randomness (Chris going in to the Aha video is just one instance)

Harry Hill's TV Burp
This show is very clever. I love Harry's wit and his one liners. I remember watching one not too long ago and thinking "Holy shit he has phil mitchel fighting Mr. Blobby"

Russell Brand's ponderland
I love russell brand and this show showcases him brilliant'y well. I love the words he uses and I think the shows researchers are brilliant

Hmmmm show's that I love, I gotta agree with Bozzaholic on Heroes, series 2 was a bit dull but series 3 has been fucking amazing.

Futurama: Since this show has returned I have enjoyed all the episode's that have been turfed out and it's great to see the show back on. It can fall a little flat sometimes but's it's usually saved by appearances from Zap Brannigan and The Professor's rants.

Top Gear: I just become hooked on this show. Car's to me are just a way to get from A to B I couldnt really care less about the performance and all that but I get hooked on this program. It's obviously carried by it's 3 presenters and makes me laugh way more than most comedy show's on the box these days. I'll be dissapointed when the series ends.

I really dont watch a whole lot of TV outside of sports so there's not a whole lot of shows that I like or know about. But here's a few of my favorites.

The Office(US)-Obviously its where I got my screen name from. I havent got into the newer seasons that much though the show has gone downhill big time since the beginning of season 3 but its still better then most comedies on TV.

Arrested Development-Obviously its the show that is in my sig. I try to spread the word on this show cause so many people have no idea what it is and dont know what they're missing. In my eyes its the funniest show of all time, its really subtle, intelligent and has alot of inside jokes so many people dont seem to get it or find it funny which is why it was canceled. Quite frankly most Americans werent intelligent enough to get it but if you are you will find it hilarious.

American Dad-Its another show that alot of people dont like but in my eyes its the best animated cartoon going. I find it much more intelligent then a show like Family Guy.

The Shield - Honestly I dont get into dramas that much but this is one of the few that I try to make a point of watching.

MY 5 favorite shows are........

CSI: Crime Scene Investigator - Honestly this is my favorite show of all time, but Gil is leaving the team soon and I can't imagine CSI without him but Laurence Fishburne is coming to replace him hopefully he is good enough. But, back on topic I usually hate cop shows but this is the one that catches my attention, some people criticize it because they say that's not how police solve the crimes, but it's a show it's suppose to be entertaining and it is.

CSI: NY: Yup, another installment in the CSI franchise, when this first came on air I wasn't so sure about about it but it grew on me, and it keeps getting better each episode it''s rapidly going to CSI's level and it just had it's 100th episode "Who Killed Mac Taylor" and it was amazing, now I've listen 2 installments in the CSI franchise so you can probably guess what my next choice is...

CSI: Miami: Yea, I'm a CSI ****e, I have almost all the seasons of each series on DVD. Miami is great, I love it but it has gotten worse over the few weeks, they're is a pattern going on, a good episode then a bad episode, but still it's the #1 highest rated show in the World and the 11th highest rated show in AMerica with CSI: NY the 12th highest rated and CSI the #1 highest rated in America.

The Office: Like others have chosen I also choose The Office, it's a great and hilarious show, almost everything about it is hilarious, but honestly the show wouldn't work without Michael, he is like the 2nd button on the shirt, he literally makes or breaks the shirt, with tht comment leads into my 5th favorite show...

Seinfeld: I love this show, it's about nothing and it pulls it off fantastically, Jerry, Kramer, Elaine, and George these 4 characters together make probably the most hilarious sitcom of all time.

Eastenders: I enjoy this show because it conveys through acting what the East of London is like, although i'm not saying that East London is full of murderers! It does show some proper experiences of real life and how certain things that are happening now in the UK like gun crime and knife crime can be portrayed through a community. Now of course their acting can sometimes be a little over the top but Eastenders does really portray life as it really is, people struggling with the finacial problems at the moment.

Most Haunted: As the title suggests it is a ghost program, although i am a huge beleiver in ghosts some stuff that happens on this show is unbeleiveable. Its one of my favourites because it is unpredictable, they do live shows sometimes longer then 3 nights and they also allow you to watch webcam links of certain rooms that are said to be haunted on computers. Its a great interactive show when its live and its also very intresting to learn about certain myths and places that can be overhyped or haunted.

The Shield

One of the most well written/acted shows i have ever seen on TV, its got nail biting suspense, great drama, comedy relief in a "dark" way im just sad to see it go, the finale is tuesday and this entire season has had me on the edge of my seat biting my fingernails

NCIS - Gibbs, DiNozzo, Ziva, Abby, Ducky & McGee. It started as a spin-off from JAG, but it's certainly IMHO the best show going on television today. Set in the Washington DC Area, it's basically the Navy version of Law & Order, mixed with a little bit of CSI. For me, besides the Donald Bellasario plots/scripts, the main reason to watch the show is Pauley Perrette (Abby Sciuto) and her interaction with Mark Harmon (Jethro Gibbs). It's in the middle of it's sixth season and still going strong.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit - Another crime series, but this one deals with sex crimes in NYC as the cases. With Christopher Merloni (Det. Elliot Stabler) and Mariska Hargitay (Det. Olivia Benson), there's always a sexual tension between the two that you want them to get together. The show has a strong ensemble cast with Richard Belzer (Det. John Munch), Ice-T (Det. Finn Tutuola) and Dann Florek, off the original Law & Order series, (Capt. Donald Kragen) and a new female assistant district attorney whose name escapes me at the moment.
