2008 Fall TV Season

Frank the Frowner

Getting Noticed By Management
Finally, no more reruns or crappy reality shows (okay, there will be less of them)! The Fall TV Season is here, and it's starting off with something I've been waiting over a year for, the final season of The Shield. Here's what I'm looking forward to over the next month, in no real particular order:

1.) The Shield. - Every season, this show has gotten better and better. This is the show that truly put FX on the map as far as having top-notch programming goes. I think it's one of the best police shows out there period (a lot better than any of the Law and Orders), and Vic Mackey may be one of my favorite characters of all time. He's corrupt, but also very effective. Last season, his job was on the line despite solving a major case and saving his department, and at the very end, he acquired a whole lot of leverage that has to help him out in not only getting his job back, but also bailing him out of certain situations that may arise. One has to wonder what the repercussions of that will be for him as the final season winds down.

2.) Dexter - This is without a doubt one of my favorite shows, possibly ever, and it's only starting up the third season. In case you had no idea what the show is about, Michael C. Hall plays a forensic scientist named Dexter Morgan who moonlights as a serial killer. His victims are those who are other killers who have escaped the traditional legal system, or were never suspected in the first place. Last season saw him face intense scrutiny, and he barely got out of getting caught. His main antagonist is now out of the picture, and if the season 3 trailer is any indication, he's not out of the woods just yet.

3.) Entourage - One of the funniest shows on television, Entourage follows the life of actor Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier), his three closest friends, and his snake of an agent, Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven). After the first season was more of an establishing point where everything is on easy street, the following seasons have been filled with conflict. His last movie, Medillin, which was part of the storyline for the last three seasons, wound up being a bust thanks to his pretentious hand-picked douche of a director, Billy Walsh. There is an enormous amount of conflict for him going into this season, and I can't wait to see how it plays out.

4.) It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - Another show on FX that is top quality, only this time it's in the comedic area. The show was pitched to FX as "Seinfeld on crack" and that's about as accurate as it gets. The show follows the lives of five people who own a bar and the hilarious situations that they wind up getting in. Danny Devito joined the cast back in season two, and the show has really taken off with him.

5.) The Office - There's really nothing left to say other than the fact that it's all-around one of the best shows on television.

What are you looking forward to?

Fall? Jake knows not of this season. Jake also wouldn't be getting these shows until Summer 2012. But any excuse to talk about The Shield. Awesome show. I might even make the bold statement that it's better than The Wire. Vick Mackey is the best anti-hero ever in TV, and possibly of all time.

I have no idea why British TV stations bury these shows on a stupid o'clock on a station you've never heard of. Although it doesn't effect me because I miss them on TV,and buy the DVD's instead so I can watch 13 episodes in a day.

The Shield has to be one of the best shows ever, some of the best characters and stories you will see (Lem + Shane + Grenade= ) and i cant wait for the last season, im just worried about whats gonna happen to Vic (hes too good to die :icon_cry:.)

It is annoying how long after they air in America we get them but since i got myself a rapidshare account i have never looked back. I just get all the latest episodes the next day after the US showing, have you ever thought about just downloading shows, its especially good for the wrestling ones as thats hows i watch all mine.

You should get yourself a rapidshare account and you can find pretty much anything you want and its fast too.

Personally, I am looking forward to the returns of:

Bones (tomorrow night) the best crime/investigative/CSI/NCIS type show on the air.

Boston Legal, even though ABC decided to move it to Mondays, as it means I have to tape it because it conflicts with RAW. Thanks ABC. Now I can only hear "DENNY CRANE!" on tape.

House, is any explanation necessary? Its House!

Smallville, even without Michael Rosenbaum playing Lex Luthor full time anymore, should still be good. I do think this is probably the last season of this phenomenal show, so, despite their claims it would never happen, I kinda hope that by the end of the season finale, they manage to get Tom Welling into "the suit".

Knight Rider, even though it will probably suck horribly, and be off the air a month after it debuts, the TV-movie didn't totally suck, so I am gonna at least give a chance to impress me. It probably won't, and I will probably abandon it shortly, but, I am gonna at least give it a chance.

Heroes: I've never seen the first season but I saw all of season 2 in a marathon on G4 2 months back and I'm hooked on it. I cant wait to see what happens this season. :one_samuria:- Hiro

30 Rock: this show is freaking hysterical and had one of the funniest endings last season. the show has great storylines, hysterical cast, and the best cameos.

Fringe: Two words, Looks Awesome!:headbanger:

I myself am looking extremely forward to the season 4 premiere of Supernatural. I started watching this show just this year and am all caught up. It's an amazing show that rarely has any bad episodes. They always follow the storyline and never stray from it. Plus the acting and editing of the show is top notch. I can't wait.

I am also looking forward to the last season of Scrubs. We got cheated out of a proper finale last year, so I am looking forward to more hilarity and pure awesomeness from this show. Also I know that LOST doesnt start until way later in the season, but I am also looking forward to that starting back up again. The cliffhanger for season 4 was amazing, and it pisses me off that I have to wait so long for the premiere of season 5. Either way I am extremely looking forward to all 3 shows.

NCIS - with the death of Director Shepherd and new Director Vance's edict that the Gibbs/DiNozzo/David/McGee team is to be broken up, there's plenty of ways this show could go this season and I look forward to see how they will be reunited (as I assume they will).

Law & Order: SVU - This is the best of the Law & Order series that is going. Has a great ensemble cast with Chris Meloni, Mariska Hargitay, Ice-T, Richard Belzer and Dann Florek. Can't wait to see what happens with Olivia and Elliot this season.
