I can't be the only one who thinks he deserves a cheque or maybe just some sort of plaque for knowing who British actors are before they turn up in Game of Thrones.
Really excited for Mad Max to finally be bumped off #1 on Sam's list by 12 Rounds 3: Lockdown after Sam sees it this weekend.
On my flight over to Boston, I watched Spy, Fury Road and Terminator: Genisys. And just like that, my first one star film of the year. I don't know who wrote the new Terminator but it was probably someone who did all the thorough research of glancing over the plots of all the previous ones on Wikipedia. Not to mention the worst fucking casting there had ever been. Linda Hamilton and Michael Biehn must be turning in their graves.
Really hated Exodus, really love True Romance.
Shane Meadows, like most English film-makers, is a bit grim for my liking. The last series was all rapey and that. How the other half live.
Ben Wheatley is a possible exception. He's grim, really grim, but there's a tinge of, "But isn't this incredibly fucked up thing funny?" Except Kill List is fucking horrific.
Edgar Wright is so far removed from that that people don't think of him as an English director.
What I watched tonight was apparently the only 70mm print of The Thing in the world. That film is still nothing less than astounding.
