Sam's Thread of Chattin' w/ Jake & Other Robust Subjects

Hey, this is my thread. I'll be the one to tell shattered to get out if he says anything disparaging Sam Raimi.

It was not intended for you. You know better than to suggest tarantino movies to me, for you seem to value having a fully functioning spinal chord.

However, you may discuss my review as well...Wait, your seeing it this week, yea?

Where is the door?

I think I preferred Amazing Spiderman to Spiderman 3 but they each had their strengths and weaknesses. Capturing comic books on film is tricky but I have been known to go on a rant or two about my distaste for how turning it into a rom com is the only thing that is clearly wrong *cough Raimi *cough. Aside from the sk8er boi thing I enjoyed the "creative license" in Amazing Spiderman to some of the curious choices in Spiderman 3.

If Moonrise Kingdom wasn't your favorite then you can just giiiiiit out.

I would say it was but I wouldn't call it a masterpiece or anything. I was in scouts as a kid so that went a long way towards adding some enjoyment. If anyone wanted to say it was a little too artistic for its own good then I would have a hard time arguing with them. The cinematography is pretty good and it has a nice feel good vibe to it. I thought the real artistry is how it forces you to get past the am I a pedophile thing to shed some of those adult layers of thinking to recognize the beauty of the way a kid views the world.

As a side note I noticed I have developed something of a distaste for Bruce Willis that I had to look past so it wouldn't detract from the film in spite of him doing nothing noticeably wrong in it.

Not liking Spider-Man 3 is acceptable, even if I think (looking at it through the prism of "Raimi's getting one over on Sony") that it's a laugh riot.

The core problem with Amazing Spider-Man (because it has a few besides) is that Peter Parker is a right selfish prick.

Speaking of Raimi, any thoughts on Oz The Great & Powerful?

Looks great. And powerful. I'll see it for Raimi's name above the door, otherwise it wouldn't even be on my radar.

Also, I forgot to mention something regarding Les Mis earlier.

Fuck Cosette - this one's adorable.

Edit: Oh, and Silver Vision lowered the price on CM Punk's Blu-ray two weeks after I bought it. I wasted £12.99. That's been on my mind a lot this morning. I'm glad they're not gonna exist any more!

The Silver Vision sale cost be close to £350 and I still don't own the Punk Blu-Ray or Mania 28.

For some reason I have to go into university of a Friday, the day I usually go and see the latest releases. That means waiting for The Last Stand. I can't go in the evening or weekend because of the children, so that means an early Monday showing for me.

I don't think I'm brave enough see Lincoln, let alone back-to-back with something else that's overlong. In fact, I'm more inclined to see Movie 43 to Lincoln.

Ill be all over The Last Stand in the near future.

jake, are you aware Arnold is starring in a Connan sequel next year? My delight cannot be fathomed.

Did you see that Conan they did two years ago? I'll keep reserved on the prospect of another, even if Arnold is in it.

I hand over a tenner per cinema visit and I don't get much more than £3 change.

Is #Nog2Livers trending worldwide yet?

That's what that means!? I just thought you guys were being racist.

How much does a movie ticket cost in England?

It varies wildly. At my cinema, where I'm a member, it's £5.50 a ticket - except on Saturdays and Sundays, when it's £12.50 a ticket (hence why I go to the cinema during the week). It's also £30 a year for membership, but I get a fuckton of discounts and three free tickets of my choosing, which I use for the expensive-as-fuck premiers of the big movies - for example, I got a £15 Skyfall premier ticket for free. 3D movies are about £6.50, but I own my own pair of 3D glasses so they'll not be making any more money from me!

Thus ends lecture one of Ticket Prices in England since 2009.
