Sam's Thread of Chattin' w/ Jake & Other Robust Subjects

On the new Jimmy Carr DVD, an obese guy in a Beer Money shirt is sitting in the far right of the front row. Makes you proud to be a wrestling fan.

Michael McIntyre stopped being funny when... actually, he's OK. Just not really to my tastes. Which is odd, considered I'm an effeminate, middle class Englishman. I suppose I'm more David Mitchell than Michael McIntyre though.

No, picture me as David Mitchell. It's much closer to the truth, particularly now he's lost the weight. Call me what you like, I ain't tubby.

Went into town to try to get District 9 and The Hurt Locker on BD. Couldn't find them anywhere. They had the DVDs, but no Blu-rays. I know what it's like to be persecuted. Had to get them off Amazon. Fokken high street.

I assume then that you have seen Inglorious?

Yes.

Did you like it?

Yes, though I thought the final half hour or so was needlessly blunt. So many incredible scenes. The tension was incredible. I suppose you could say the end was just blowing off that tension... but I thought it was way too B-movie, even though it was meant to be. The opening scene is one of the best of all-time.

I also lol'd when the subtitles translated "merci" as "merci". There's something wrong with me.

I honestly thought that a lot of the scenes could have been shortened and it would have made it a more enjoyable experience. The opening scene was incredible. The way he breaks him down so mercilessly is fantastic. An utterly brilliant scene that is a movie in itself. The bar scene was also pretty incredible. Although I do think that it is one of the scenes that could have been slightly shorter and to the point.

Thoughts on Brad Pitt's performance?

Thoughts on Brad Pitt's performance?

So-so. Would have come off better if he wasn't sharing a movie - and several scenes - with Christop Waltz's Hans Landa.

Edit: Oh, and why the fuck was Austin Powers in the movie? Did not appreciate that.

Haha!

I have no idea why Mike Myers was in it and the whole scene did feck all for the film as a whole. I think it was only due to the cameo that that scene was even involved to be honest. However, I do agree with the statement that there should have been more of Brad Pitt. The movie was great but the Basterds were brilliant I would have loved to see more of them. Regardless, Hans Landa stole the show.

District 9 has probably jumped into my top 5 of the year. I'll watch The Hurt Locker later.

You'd think they'd stock the Blu-Ray versions in a London shop, lowly old Hanley has plenty.

Maybe the London Blu-ray crowd is more numerous and swift than I gave them credit for. I could have queued up and asked about it, but I found it unlikely District 9 would be under The Hurt Locker's £20 price tag.

Just go to a Vue or Odean, it's shit however you look at it.

It's like Last Of The Mohicans, but blue and nowhere near as intresting.

I would have imagined so.

Just finished watching The Hurt Locker. It was good, not great. Not nearly as tense as people make out. Sorry, I mean not as tense as Empire made out.
