I barely watch NJPW.You mean his only look?
What?!
I barely watch NJPW.
I hate this crowd.
Pretty OK show. Good main event. Lived up. But nothing seemed to actually happen in the show.
I've seen the shows leading up to it. I know the build ups. I know some of the matches were good. The main event was great. But in contrast to Best In The World and last years Final Battle, nothing really happened here. The one change they could've and should've made in Matt Sydal winning the TV title was passed up because Jay Lethal is allegedly good. That and whether Ciampa is fired or not.If you followed ROH you'd understand a few of the match endings.
Adam Page refusing to give up despite the amount of pain he was in solely because BJ Whitmer told him not to shows that he can hang, which in the angle means BJ is right and Jimmy Jacobs is wrong. He went all out against Strong and hanged with him which BJ said he would do. It made Page look great while getting Roddy the win.
Tommaso Ciampa went "off the deep end" a few months ago and started attacking officials and staff, Kevin Kelly, Bobby Cruise, referees, he was told that if he ever did it again he would be fired. When he accidentally hit Paul Turner, Nigel stood up, causing a distraction and meaning that Tommaso may now be fired, while also getting Elgin the win. This now leads to the question if Nigel intentionally cost Ciampa the match and will he fire him?
And the main event is obvious. Jay Briscoe has finally won a feud that has been going on forever, and in a very violent manner too.
Aside from that, all you had going into the show was good wrestling - this is the biggest difference between WWE, TNA and ROH. ROH provides exactly what it says on the tin but it also provides the stories to go with it. Even the ending to the ROH World title match, Jay ending it with a Jay Driller onto the title is great storytelling and then the final image being them, both on their backs, surrounded by wreckage. It's one of the reasons I love ROH. They never get enough credit for the stories they tell as well as the great wrestling they exhibit. I now wish this show hadn't happened in NYC.
