Raw does a 3.0 rating; AKA Slyfox resists the urge to putdown Punk's drawing ability

i guess they should demote cm punk because of this. Oh or we will demote all the other wrestlers who couldn't raise the ratings in the past 4 years. Lets demote cena, orton, taker, christian, wade barret.

I've come to the conclusion that I don't give a rip about the ratings. Raw hasn't been this good in a lot of years. I'm more entertained than ever.

The belief that ratings and quality have any sort of correlation is one held solely by fools. The folks who make a big deal about the ratings are the ones that are interested by things like drawing power and the business end of wrestling. While I'll admit I occasionally get suckered into a debate about ratings or drawing power, I'm like you in that I'm much more concerned with a quality wrestling product than how much money it is making. I'll let Vince and friends fret over that.

I've been enjoying RAW and Smackdown a lot more, respectively in the past two to three months.

What was RAW up against? Monday Night Football or something?

The rating has been dropping for the best part of a decade. Personally I call that as close as you'll ever get to conclusive proof that it has little to nothing to do with the product, and close to everything to do with the business model.

if you one of those rating watchers, I don't think they count the wonderful invention DVR. I mean I can't watch wrestling monday nights to I DVR and watch tuesdays. And I for one don't care about ratings I like the product right now.

 ......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................CM PUNK FTW!!!

Or, may be, when a casual fan sees punk talking he cheers (or just admire), but doesn't feel the need to see every promos of his every Monday night, because they know what this is gonna converge into. Or, may be, when he sees another WWE star (relatively unknown) talking something which is going over their head, but they just know that this is another rebel-against-authority story. Or, may be, people don't relate to anti-authority characters anymore, and they have more important things to do.
Which ever way you wanna put it, Punk new story isn't as epic for masses, as it is made out to be. It has been entertaining and bringing the best out of Cena and punk both. But I can't imagine that my old roomies (who basically watches WWE for Cena and Khali) is going to invest emotionally into it. So, may be, that punk is not as imposing or engaging (like Austin and Rock) as people are making out to be.

Those who believe this statement are the only fools around.

How can you say something is good if it bores people to the point of not wanting to watch it? You are familiar with the concept of pro wrestling, right?

Yeah, wrestling does bore most people. Thus it sucks. Good point as always, boss.

That's not completely fair. There have been many many high quality shows in the past that were canceled due to poor ratings simply because the subject matter wasn't mainstream enough. And I certainly think that applies to Pro-Wrestling as a whole right now. Right now Pro-Wrestling is in a slump as a whole. Not many people are interested in it these days like they were in 1998, and Bill Goldberg was The Man. ;) (Sorry had to plug Goldberg)

Honestly I think the quality is way up now, but it's not quite high enough to generate a buzz like it was doing during the golden ages and the attitude era. It's going to have to go up higher even still and then it has to do the hardest thing of all, STAY THAT WAY. It has to stay long enough for people to get back into it, and see for themselves it's good.

High drawing power doesn't automatically equal quality. What do you have to say for Transformers III? Not much, I'd guess.
In the same way that a good wrestling match isn't a product of the number of moves used during it, a good argument isn't the product of the quantity of words used to compose it. So really, he doesn't need to say much to win. Now what do you have to say about that?

I would agree with you, but Justin Bieber's music sells like a motherfucker but most people over 20 would say he sucks.

I'd be willing to bet that WWE's audience as been shifting little by little, the 18-24 demographic continues to get smaller, while the 13-17 demographic continues to gets larger. If that's true, it's going to affect the direction of the storylines. Basically the simplier the better, and the CM Punk storyline isn't what I'd call simple.
