Went to a track meet yesterday. Got almost halfway through the meet before it started pouring down rain. After it began to pour down rain, they kept running races. It was really stupid. Right before I told my team they need to get on the bus to head home, they finally called the meet. Thank God. And I got home much earlier than I thought I would.
Still not happy about how long it took to cancel the meet.
This part of why I always have and always will maintain that Track was the worst/most painful sport I ever did.
I was a three year starter both ways in football, the majority of my "biggest hits" coming while playing linebacker.
I played baseball in the summer.
AAU basketball with awful suicides (the exercise, not people killing themselves on the team) and then wall sits
and Track....fucking Track. THE. WORST.
THE WORST
After my last state trials, I swore if I never had to run a 400M again, I wouldn't. and I haven't.
What is the worst part of every sports practice? The running. What is the entire sport of track comprised of? FUCKING RUNNING.
Not to mention, the fact that at least were I lived, exactly zero fucks were given in regards to weather. I have run 4X400 meter relays while it was : Snowing. Raining so hard you couldn't see runners in lanes next to you. 45 degrees and 15-20 MPH wind. and combinations of all of the above. Not to mention a particular occasion when it was 92 degrees, on a black track, that was so hot that the skin on the bottom of my feet split open by the end of the race.
Track can only be enjoyed by the sickest of the sick motherfuckers.
That said, me and my buddies had a blast for most of the time when we weren't going through hellish training or races. That and the fact that we would have broken every JV record my school had if our coaches hadn't moved us up to varsity my sophomore year got us some solid notoriety with the varsity football team we were about to join.
Still, fuck a 400. Never again.
