Random Slyfox Comments (questions welcomed, replies not promised)

Went to a track meet yesterday. Got almost halfway through the meet before it started pouring down rain. After it began to pour down rain, they kept running races. It was really stupid. Right before I told my team they need to get on the bus to head home, they finally called the meet. Thank God. And I got home much earlier than I thought I would.

Still not happy about how long it took to cancel the meet.

I guess? I enjoy it well enough to have done it for several years now. Yesterday was just kind of stupid though.

This part of why I always have and always will maintain that Track was the worst/most painful sport I ever did.

I was a three year starter both ways in football, the majority of my "biggest hits" coming while playing linebacker.

I played baseball in the summer.

AAU basketball with awful suicides (the exercise, not people killing themselves on the team) and then wall sits

and Track....fucking Track. THE. WORST. THE WORST

After my last state trials, I swore if I never had to run a 400M again, I wouldn't. and I haven't.

What is the worst part of every sports practice? The running. What is the entire sport of track comprised of? FUCKING RUNNING.

Not to mention, the fact that at least were I lived, exactly zero fucks were given in regards to weather. I have run 4X400 meter relays while it was : Snowing. Raining so hard you couldn't see runners in lanes next to you. 45 degrees and 15-20 MPH wind. and combinations of all of the above. Not to mention a particular occasion when it was 92 degrees, on a black track, that was so hot that the skin on the bottom of my feet split open by the end of the race.

Track can only be enjoyed by the sickest of the sick motherfuckers.

That said, me and my buddies had a blast for most of the time when we weren't going through hellish training or races. That and the fact that we would have broken every JV record my school had if our coaches hadn't moved us up to varsity my sophomore year got us some solid notoriety with the varsity football team we were about to join.

Still, fuck a 400. Never again.

It's why I never did track either. But the way we do practice here, you probably run less in track practice than you do in basketball or football practice.

That's just stupid.

I don't understand the mentality of those who like running the 1600 (or the 3200 in high school). But some do. I don't get it, but they do.

So as I'm posting comments in a couple different threads, I realize I have extreme disdain for the stereotypical IWC fan. What makes it worse is how the stupidity of the internet fan is increasingly infecting pro wrestling.

I think there's a fine line between angry fanboy rage that someone they like isn't getting pushed and legitimate gripes against what is being put out.

Whether that's true or not, it isn't really my complaint. My complaint is that so many internet fans have no idea what makes good wrestling, but their ignorant opinion on wrestling is increasingly becoming more prevalent.

What,in your opinion, makes "good wrestling"?

Good wrestling is about telling a story in the ring and making people care about your character. There are five main components to good wrestling, which I have discussed numerous times on these forums, and when all five come together, that's when you have great wrestling.

Too many wrestlers today are essentially "cheap pops" wrestlers. We always mock those who use cheap heat on the microphone, yet Internet fans don't hold the same standards to the actual in-ring work. Too many fans don't want to watch wrestling, they want to feel smart. And it has changed pro wrestling greatly and not for the better.

As long as I get sucked into it, as long as I feel happy when someone wins and am compelled to pay attention to the storyline, its good wrestling

Nonsense. What YOU like has absolutely nothing to do with whether's it good wrestling or not. If you like guys shoving light bulbs up each other's rectums, that doesn't mean it's good wrestling.

That's what so many Internet fans don't understand. What you like (or what I like) doesn't really matter and it has no relevance on the quality of the product. I like the TV show Gilligan's Island. That doesn't mean Gilligan's Island is a good show, it just means I like it.

Good wrestling makes you care about the wrestlers and it commits you to the story of the match. It causes you to become emotionally invested in the match, not because of the moves they are doing, but rather because of who they are. Good wrestlers know how to make people care about what they are doing, but too many wrestlers of today simply use "cheap pops" wrestling moves to make people care. There's a reason why so much of the WWE roster is easily replaceable and John Cena has been the top guy for over a decade.

Thats pretty much what I said when I wrote compelled to pay attention to the storyline

To summarize what Sly said in different terms:

There's a difference between entertaining and quality. Citizen Kane is probably the most well made film of all time. It's also one of the few that had me almost nodding off. Fast and the Furious 7 is a movie that will make your head explode if you think about it for more than 10 seconds, but it's incredibly fun to sit through. Sly is talking about Citizen Kane and the Bryan supporters are talking about Furious 7.

Are you saying John Cena is Citizen Kane? And if Daniel Bryan is Fast and the Furious 7 (a huge money maker and isn't the point of wrestling to make money?) what is Shawn Michaels?

Am I saying Cena is one of the best of all time and someone people are going to be talking about for years to come? Yep.

Am I saying Bryan was really fun for a while and then fizzled out but can always brag about that one time where he was legitimately the hottest thing in the wrestling world? Yep.

As for Shawn:

But you were talking about you. And I'm telling your opinion has nothing to do with quality wrestling.

It's not really about Bryan supporters. Daniel Bryan isn't a bad worker. But fans think he's one of the greatest ever because he's small and uses submissions. And that has nothing to do with good wrestling.

Who are the best full time workers in the WWE right now? I know Cena is tops but who else do you enjoy?

Also, how far did you make it into House of Cards?
