Q&A With The Doctor

Which of the voices I use in my RP is your favourite? Does the voice I use for any of the characters affect your perception of them?

Dr. Coberer will always have a special place in my heart, but I am becoming quite the fan of the Irishman. The two voices are so distinct it gets easy to forget that they're both you. On the flipside, Southern Preacherman and Dr. Coberer are a little too similar in how whispery they are, which can brea the immersion slightly.

I think making your character voices so unique, rather than just your normal voice for all of them, helps me get a better idea of what the character is like. Every character should have a unique voice, even if it's just written. Very important part of a character.

Do you see anyone else doing vocal RPs on a regular basis? If that happened, how do you think it would affect the fed?

Christ, I hope not. There are very, very, very few people who can do a vocal RP and have it be anywhere near the quality of a written RP. I'd rather read an RP than listen to one any day. Factor in things like mic quality and just general talent and you have a recipe for disaster. right now, the vocal RPs you do are interesting because they're unique and you're actually good at voices, but no one else should do them, because no one's any good. It helps you actually sound like the characters, though the religious preacherman needs a bit of work to get more Southern American.

As for how it would affect the fed, on one hand it'd at least get people to be somewhat more creative, but on the other the quality overall would drop. WZCW doesn't need the help. Hi-yo. That was a joke.

Steven Holmes vs. Action Saxton; how does it happen and how do you book it?
Depends on where we want to go. If we're going serious, let's say Holmes is world champ at the time. In an interview, Action Saxton makes a few vocal jabs towards Holmes to pop the crowd ("No fancy-pants sucka is gonna boss around the Badass Brother!"), and then talks about his opponent. Later in the night, it turns out Holmes was listening and is quite offended. This continues on for a few weeks, with Holmes' confidence becoming more and more unsure, as he asks himself why the small jabs are throwing him off so much. Eventually, Saxton would win some random match against someone, but before he could celebrate, boom, Holmes from out of nowhere hits him with the championship, and then delivers a vicious, savage beatdown full of chairshots, basically leaving Saxton in a bloody mess on the mat.

Past that, I'm thinking maybe a no-contact clause would be enacted by Dave, and Holmes would constantly circumvent it ("The clause said nothing about Erik" "It was the chair that made contact with your skull, not myself") while Saxton would try to train and get better, while constantly looking over his shoulder.

I imagine segments and RPs featuring Holmes at fancy parties and Saxton in his dojo, this really nice juxtaposition between the high-class living of Holmes and the comfortable but physical lifestyle of Saxton.

Eventually they'd clash in a huge match, I'm assuming Erik or whoever holmes is using as a bodyguard would attempt to interfere at some point, only for Saboteur to make him stop that, and whoever won would win. Preferably Saxton, for a feel-good face victory moment.

For a comedy feud, the possibilities are endless, and really for a serious one you can take the title out of the picture and it'd still work. Just an idea.

What do you think of my RPs since AoN?
(I'll answer this when I have a bit more time - Have to head to class)

What happens to SabSax if you dont win at the LL?
I see no reason for us to stop being a team.

If you had to write the breakup of SaboSax who would you have turn heel?

Thoughts on myself as an RP'er and what I can do to make Dustin Hunter better?

What was the result of your debut match in WZCW?

Apologies for not answering these earlier but I think my answers are better now than they would have been.

1. It really depends. Both have immense potential as a heel. I'd probably say Saxton just so I can give my planned heel gimmick a shot. Exciting stuff planned.

2. I think JGlass PMed you an idea for the Carnival we had. Do that and I will become marks for you guys. other than that, experiment and keep it up! Experience is the best teacher.

3. Max Karzai lost a contract battle royal but got a contract anyway. Action Saxton beat Mr. Morality at a house show after Morality no-showed in kayfabe.

So what do you think about Celeste's current direction?
I love it! I love wonderfully evil power couples and this is a storyline only Celeste can do. She was already pretty great as the Russian strongwoman but as Holmes' right-hand woman I foresee shenanigans and exciting angles and opportunities in her future. Can't wait.

Having Mystique lead TSA was a great decision, through and through, and it's really shown in your RPs. When you're given something like that to work with you're really shining. Your RP against Stormrage was really, really good. I loved the dynamic between everyone speaking, made it flow really nicely. Dialogue like that is much better than a straight-up monologue in my opinion.

The thing about Mystique is that ever since being revealed as the Higher Power, and the original Mystique being Reynolds, he's really come into his own in WZCW. He's at a really good position right now and is actually a character I quite enjoy every week.

Also, I always imagine him looking like the comic version of Bane from Batman. He should do more Bane things.

You once mentioned you have another character in another fed. Would you tell us more about him?

I have many, many characters. Two of my main ones, Erin Toyota and the tag team Dance Party 95, both competed in last year's WZCW All Stars show.

The other one that I consider a "main" is called Cobra T. Washington. He is a rebel without a cause, former backyard wrestler that's been constantly shoved around the world, ignored, and neglected. Eventually he found wrestling in order to give his anger an outlet. Despite that, he's a face. He's a pretty nice guy, calm, collected. He's heavily based on The Driver from Drive - Cool, collected, but god help you in you manage to make him angry. He's not exactly all there.

The thing is, though, he's not really that cool at all. It's a carefully-cultivated act that he does as a way of dealing with his inferiority complex.

I could go into detail with the character since he's had some massive character development and storylines. If you want I could post a few of his important RPs here. But basically, James Dean Biker Rebel Hides His Rage Behind The Mask Of Cool.

Because I am feeling needy, your thoughts if I got the invitation to join creative?
I...don't know. I don't really see you adding or removing anything in particular. You're a nice guy so I'd shrug my shoulders and eat my quesadilla.

Wait, you hate Krypto. Fuck you.

Maybe linking it would work better? But colour me curious!

I really want to start honing my craft in The Random RP Thread, just to see what comes to mind. How would you start off with something like that? A backstage interview? An interaction with a character?

"Coming Soon" video package-style RPs always get me excited.

Ooh boy. Hmm.

I'll just post the three-part series which explained a lot of his backstory. This didn't come out until nearly a year of the character being active. Was a big step.

Oh yes. Talk about explosive. Both would produce some insanely entertaining television and RPs. Make it happen, someone.

Doc!

Sorry I didnt mention Mr Adonis much in my feedback for Lebelle. Hopefully he will do much in the PPV RP.

General thoughts on the fed goings-on right now?

It's all good! It was cool to see the feedback anyway.

Honestly, I'm excited. I think the fed is in a really weird place of transition and has been for a while, but with people coming back and certain characters really finding their footing and trying new things, the roster will really become far stronger than it has been.

If I can say one really great thing I've noticed recently about the shows that I hope to see more of, it's the segments on the last few cycles. They were all written to be framed differently and uniquely and they all highlighted totally different characters. We got an on-tron promo, a TNA-esque (in a positive!) "hidden camera" segment, some conversations backstage, as well as the standard interviews. One big problem I've noticed, and this doesn't just apply to WZCW, is that it can be really hard to do things that really make a character shine onscreen in a segment. Sometimes you give a character to someone who really gets it, sometimes not so much and you end up with a segment that gets the job done but doesn't shine.

One person who makes characters shine is NSL. I've praised his matches before, but his Xander/Mancini match, while not without its problems, was brilliant in giving everyone involved in that match something to work with in their next RP as well as giving them all in-character moments. It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of the LeBelle character (which is why I've wanted to do this manager thing with him since 2014) so to see him get used in such a fun, amusing-but-still-serious-and-threatening way really made me happy.

As for angle and character things, I think it's fascinating to see characters like Titus and Reynolds make huge, unexpected heel turns and in my eyes knock it out of the park by doing something fresh. Titus especially has been brilliant in his title run. At the same time I see a lot of fresher (or, well, fresh to me) characters with potential like Veejay. Garth Black is doing something new that is obviously really working, and it's fantastic to see Mikey finally on top. Give us back a few more outlandish characters (mostly I'm sad that M, ElegANT, and The Beard all left just before we returned) and I think WZCW is primed to be better than ever in new and exciting ways.

So yeah, tl;dr the roster is still weak but getting stronger but I feel that creative is trying hard to add in more unique character-building and highlighting spots to matches while writing unique segments that complement the character being used. There's so much you can do if you don't try to constrain yourself with how WWE plots their shows. Things like Lucha Underground have shown it can work in "real" wrestling as well.

Eh I tried the LU style in my RPs and got a decisively split opinion on them soooooo yeah kind of discouraging when you're trying something new.
