Can you explain to me why smarks get bent out of shape about "selling" when talking about who they like and why they like them? I understand perfectly why selling is important for telling certain stories in the ring. But it's not something I worry about. It's not like I have a check-list with pre-set criteria I'm looking for when deciding whether or not I like a wrestler. I either gravitate to someone or I don't. Why does it seem to me like most smarks over-think who they like and don't?

Well personally I've hated Davey Richards solely because of times when his no selling got preposterous. I don't always hate no selling(Hell i defended Ambrose/Rollins 30 minute aftermath of spamming finishers) but Davey's is so unbelievable and he contributes it all to his "Strong style". the moment that irked me most was when he completely no sold a superplex, standing up and suplexing Eddie Edwards out of the ring. Another moment was when he used a piledriver as a transition move to a fishermen suplex. I was wrong in mentioning Roderick Strong but a lot of his matches irritate me due to the no selling. The guys whole deal is backbreakers and some of them are pretty harsh(He did a sidewalk slam to Michael Elgin on the exposed top rope turnbuckle that looked painful) but most of his opponents completely ignore what has been done when the commentators constantly mention it. Eddie Edwards? Just flat out no charisma whatsoever.

I've never put much thought into wrestlers i like and don't like. There's not many on the WWE roster that i hate anyways.

Just to defend Davey, it's not like he no sells in every match. He no sells in certain matches, where usually the build-up is portraying him as someone who won't give up. It's like if you are determined to do something, several things intervene but you press on with it, Davey's character is all about that "Strong Style" aspect. Fair enough, it's not everyone or even most peoples cup of tea, but fuck it, it's what makes him different.

As for Eddie Edwards, I agree hes as bland as a toothpick, but still a great in-ring performer.

How many more PM's have you sent KB asking to close this thread?

None.

You know what makes wrestling look even more fake? Overselling. Remember Shawn Michaels vs Hulk Hogan -Summmerslam 2005?

How about Hulk Hogan or Undertaker? They both no sell any moves.

I'll take overselling to a constant spot fest. Should I be willing to bet that you think Jack Evans is a good wrestler? He's better than Great Khali right?

No. Jack Evans sucks. He can only do high-flyiing moves. A good wrestler is someone who has a variety of techniques including grappling, submissions and high flying ability. Like Kurt Angle,AJ Styles,Samoa Joe.

That's your definition of a good wrestler? That's like the stereotypical smark answer for "what is a good wrestler?" If smarks ever unite for a coalition they should frame that as one of the understanding's a smark must believe before he is anointed as an idiot.

I actually enjoy watching Jack Evans, his athleticism is incredible.

Yeah he isn't a Kurt Angle or a Bret Hart in actual wrestling ability, but his high-flying amazes me. Who gives a shit what other wrestling fans think, just watch what you enjoy.

Yes i do but at least there was selling despite how silly it looked. You like Dolph Ziggler anyways, compare normal selling to HBK's selling at that match, which of these is more like Dolph Ziggler's?

Hogan's worked when he was a larger than life character in the 80's and the odd moments he did it from then just worked. As for Undertaker, i must've missed those times when he no sold a superplex.

I'm sure you'll ignore this like you've ignored others in this thread like TDS.

What is the problem about liking Dolph Ziggler anyway? Isn't like the guy doesn't have a personality or a good character. I'l give you that he's an overseller, no doubt about that, but sometimes overselling just makes the match look better for the casual fan. Shawn Michaels back in the 90's was an overseller as well and he still got over as one of the best ever. Not saying that Ziggler, but does he have what it takes to make a point in history? Yes.

I love that match.

Care to explain what you think is so great about it?

That match is also one of my favorites, but I'll answer to your question. The thing I enjoy most in the match nowadays it's just Ricky Steamboat finally getting a World Championship - the in-ring psychology was also top notch, you can't even feel time passing by and even years later you feel the excitement.

But what about for you? What do you think it was so great about this match? (yes, I'm totally ignoring the fact that this thread is from PWF)

You've mistaken this with the Chi-Town Rumble match. WrestleWar is where Flair wins the belt back and gets slaughtered by Terry Funk in the post-match.
