CM and Echelon gave me the idea, but who do you think wou;ld win a fight between these groups of Monsters?

I'm gonna go with pokemon, simply because I find they have more heart. Plus, you can't kill a Pokemon. They only faint. Digimon was always in my eyes a ripoff of Pokemon. How manyu Pokemon games are outr there? Digimon? I rest my case.

Discuss.

Pokemon is the best!! Try getting Yugioh in this...that show was also good. But then there was another show called: Yugioh GX or something which sucked!! My 2 fav are Pokemon and Yugioh!!

Digimon and Pokemon are two separate things, two separate concepts

Digimon was in existence almost a full decade before pokemon was created

Even though they've both been on TV about the same time in America, Digimon has been around much longer in Japan (the place were both shows were created) Digimon has a much larger fanbase in Japan as well.

Digimon has 6 movies, while Pokemon has 2

As far as pokemon not dying, I'm pretty sure they die, but not as graphically as digimon, usually the deaths in Digimon (epically the 3rd season) are more violent and more heart wrenching, and even though its a show aimed at Kids, the American version of different seasons have been edited many times from the original Japanese cuts to make it more age appropriate

As far as power, I don't know of too many pokemon that possess the power to destroy the world, let alone the universe by themselves, but yet I know of quite a few Digimon or Digital beings that do possess this power

As far as video games, meh... I see new games for both shows debut every year for different systems

Pokemon is the best!! I want to have a debate with you Ech about pokemon and digimon. Not right now though, because I'm tired and its 3 AM by me. I will prolly regret it but still.

I'll agree with you there, however, around the time that both were having their boom period in America, the little kids viewed them both as "having cartoon monsters as friends", and that made them happy. Most people saw them as basically the same idea.

Once again, I believe I have heard that before. However, in JAPAN. In America, where most of us are from, Pokemon came first, making Digimon look like a ripoff.

Are you talking in Japan? In America, I only ever saw 1 Digimon movie, and it was pretty much three movies in one, as well, it was animated alot differently than the TV show, and therefor, gave off the feeling that it wasn't even superior than the television show at the time. And Pokemon has "2" movies?!?! ARE YOU INSANE?! Pokemon, I believe right now, is up to TEN movies, and still on the go! And although I will admit that the last few movies havn't been the greatest, they're still there. And "Pokemon: The First Movie" was the best movie I ever saw at the time of watching it. The Digimon movie was good, but I'd watch Pokemon over it at the time.

Pokemon do not "die" per say, although it has been questioned quite often (Ex. When Charmanders flame goes out). And if Memory serves me right, they don't "die" in Digimon either, they do some sort of thing where they, whats the word, "reboot"? Either way, they fizzle out and reform somewheres else as a weaker form of themselves.

As far as power, I don't know of too many pokemon that possess the power to destroy the world, let alone the universe by themselves, but yet I know of quite a few Digimon or Digital beings that do possess this power

You might be right, but I'd rather see a good old Pokemon battle between two evenly matched pokemon where we don't know whos gonna win, or the "hugely powerful guy getting beat by the underdog heros" (John Cena anyone?) So in Shear power, I'll give the nod to Digimon, however, I still find a fairly decent battle more entertaining than watching three episodes of one battle.

As far as video games, meh... I see new games for both shows debut every year for different systems

Pokemon has countless games out there, right off the top of my head, 13, and thats simply the games where you actually run around and catch other pokemon, thats not including spinoffs and shit. Digimon, yeah, they had a few games, but I never played them. Cause as a kid, I was to busy playing Pokemon to go and play Digimon.

So you made a lot of good points, and I'll admit in alot of ways "Digimon" (The charecters, not the show in whole) are more powerful, maybe even cooler in the fact that they can talk, but Pokemon was HUGE in America, and theres no denying that. Just look at how the votes are swaying here.

One more thing... If you think Digimon is so popular... How many Digimon are in the super Smash Bros games? Pokemon? I think we know who wins that battle...

And on a side note... I liked both. With that said, you wouldn't hapen to have any of those unedited Japaneese Digimon death scenes?:)

Excellent Excellent points by Derf. I would def. want to see Derf and Ech have a debate over this topic! ALso, what is in your sig Derf? A hand? Who's hand?

I can't believe you just read through all that. I have tremendous respect for Derf, but I'm lost beyond the title of this thread.. so for me to sit through reading as much as he just wrote.. its way beyond anything I could do.

What's so hard to read? He divided it up to a couple of parts which made it easier for me to read. I love pokemon and I never watched Digimon. It bore me, I don't know why. I am a huge fan for the old pokemon, not the newest ones. I have Pokemon Red, Blue (On blue I have 148 pokemon and all of them are level 100 ... cheat code), Yellow, Gold, (I lost silver) Ruby and Leaf Green. I don't know what else but meh. I haven't played it in a while...but at least Derf knows what he is talking about so the 2 would make an awesome debate that I would enjoy.

I couldn't even be asked to just read through all of what you typed. You wanna know how far I got, and what exactly I read?

Whats so hard to read? He divided it up.. .. huge fan.. .. red, blue, yellow, leaf.. .. derf.. .. enjoy.

Thats about it.

There is that better for you?

I was talking both American and Japan. Pokemon has 10 full length movies?! Bullshit, I'm going to have to see some proof on that one

They die, but since pokemon is more geared more towards young kids, the makers of pokemon really tone down the death scenes. When a digimon dies, they die, their data gets deleted and they don't come back. Of course their are some exceptions, certain Digimon, after death, using their power, have found their way back to the Digital Plane, from Heaven, Hell, The Net Ocean, Purgatory, Dark Limbo, different dimensions throughout the Digital Universe by simply generating themselves into another, often more powerful, form.

You might be right, but I'd rather see a good old Pokemon battle between two evenly matched pokemon where we don't know whos gonna win, or the "hugely powerful guy getting beat by the underdog heros" (John Cena anyone?) :headscratch: that sounds like most Digimon battles, except their was more on the line when they did battle than some silly trophy

hmm..... as a kid I could say the same thing for digimon, the only pokemon games I remember were the one's for gameboy and Pokemon Snap for N64

And on a side note... I liked both. With that said, you wouldn't hapen to have any of those unedited Japaneese Digimon death scenes?:)

I'll see what I can do

Hashbrownies?

Great points by Echelon, really good points. You know your stuff, but yea Pokemon has a little less (maybe exactly or a little more) than 10 movies. Maybe 8 or 9 but that is as low as it goes.

They had the movie about Mewtwo/Mew. THen they had one about Celebi. And then they had one about the legendary 3 dogs (Entei Reicku and something else) Then they had one about Lugio and Oh Ho. I don't remember the rest but yea.
