Phoenix's 100 Songs

What about it sucks? Maybe it's not for you, but to say it sucks sounds pretty ignorant coming from somebody that more than likely has no musical abilities and lacks any sort of creativity in anything they do.. She can sing, she writes and produced her own music, she's in charge of her whole image. She is her own entity, and that's an extreme rarity today. Her music is nowhere near my favorite, but I recognize that she is an extremely talented person and she writes good pop music. Stop being biased and see things for what they are.

To me what makes me think it sucks is the fact that a singer who's songs has become highly popular while it mostly sounds like a song put together with a bad beat, some bad lyrics and a somewhat average voice at best then put on repeat numerous times throughout the song to create what goes on to become a world acknowledged hit played across the music channels atleast 3-6 times a day (yes her songs are played atleast 3 times MINIMUM a day in Denmark)

Yes I do admit I do not like her music, and I'll certainly let my personal opinion get in the way of me judging her, because it's all I have to judge from, and the fact that I've heard an acoustic performance of the song "Poker Face" performed on the radio, which quite frankly managed to sound nearly worse than the actual original song, which still makes me want to turn off the radio.

And yes fair enough, she writes her own music, but she certainly aint the first, and won't be the last one to be doing exactly that, and she's certainly not the greatest performer to have done that neither (don't ask me to name some unless you wanna wait a few hours for me to sit around and verify the fact that yes that singer was most definatly better than Lady Gaga and that singer most definatly wrote his or her own songs)

Don't get me wrong, I fucking love Metallica. I'm just not going to be biased in my judgment of music. I hear what your saying about how fast music is produced without care and attention to what they're actually putting out. I'm saying that Lady Gaga doesn't do that and she's one of the biggest stars in music. She is a little scary, but she's also incredibly interesting.

I don't know. I still don't buy into her music. But then again I'm in the minority so arguing will just sink me into self-ignorance. She is unique none the less.

Bad beat? Bad lyrics and bad voice? See what your doing is your confusing opinion with fact. I don't give a shit if you like her or not, but what your doing is trying to use your personal opinions to convince me that she sucks. We can go on forever arguing opinions. I'm using facts about her, how she writes her own songs, produces them and manages her own career.

Did I ever say that she's the only artist to write her own songs? Did I say she was the greatest ever? Your arguments quickly lose legitimacy when you put words in peoples mouths. We were discussing why a majority of popular music at this point in time isn't very good. I told you how she didn't fit the mold, she didn't match up with a lot of the artists we listed. You have yet to tell me how she can be grouped with people like Rihanna or Daughtry, outside the fact that they all make pop music. I was never arguing your opinion, only your predictable and biased ''facts'' as to why she sucks.

Smart. Understandable and non-critical response to others opinion.

A response as predictable as Hogans finishing move.

Oh by I'm not Armbar, I'm not, I'll certainly let you have your own opinions about her, I'm simply sharing my own opinions and why I would go quick and throw her into the bunch of those people listed earlier, because of my dislike towards their music (everybody but Daughtry, because I actually like that music, and couldn't care less if the songs are written by Chris himself or someone else who couldn't get a career singing so decided to do producing and songwriting instead.)

Something tells me some misunderstanding was made in the process, because as I mentioned, all I'm doing is using my own opinions to bring Lady Gaga down because in the end of the day there's probably a bigger chance of someone walking up to you and asking about your opinion about an artist rather than asking you to judge and listen to her because she does things by herself such as song writing and everything :)

I certainly know I won't go ahead and listen to music just because the band / singer is considered a good worker, and someone who doesn't do things for the money but puts emotion into their music, cause in the end of the day it's about listening to what sounds good in your ears, and listening to the music that appeals to you, and I will most certainly not put Lady Gaga among those people that appeals to me.

This is more along the lines of what you should have said in the first place. This is an opinion. What you had stated before were opinions dressed as facts. There's a huge difference. I was never arguing why you should or shouldn't like her, nobodies minds will be changed that way. What I was doing was showing how she is different than the normal breed of todays pop musician.

Yeah that's probably where we misunderstood eachother, or just me misunderstanding myself :suspic:

Anyway the point is yes, it's all an opinion, which I believed I stated in the first place that all I had to talk from was my own opinions, and I tried to keep it that way, won't say that I stepped away from trying to keep it that way, thats for you to judge :)

But to bring along another opinion about what you said about her being different than the normal breed of todays pop musician, I can most definatly agree on that, but not in the positive way, because I quite honestly find her harder to listen to and enjoy than the others, thats all.

That's a terrible point to make because just because some can't sing doesn't mean that they automatically go into producing music. As much as I hate her, I'll use Kara Dioguardi for an example. She can sing pretty well, but ultimately she chooses to write music because that's what she enjoys. She could have probably been a singer but chose to pursue a career in song writer because she wanted to, not because she had no other choice.

I know it didn't come across as perhaps the greatest commercializing of the business so to say, but you can't deny that there's a nice handfull of producers and songwriters who has had alot more success doing that than they had in their career behind the mic, and then there's the ones that can do both, which I'm not specifically saying they can't, because personally being a long time Hip Hop fan, I know that there's alot of rappers that has been successfull behind the microphone yet has also been doing alot of producing (such as Dr. Dre and Eminem to put some names on it)

I quite like Lady Gaga, the songs get stuck in and at least the sound isn't generic, it has a unique feel with each song. Though I swear her voice keeps changing per song, might be the voice breaking maybe...

The singer he's going for would be Josey Scott, lead singer of Saliva.

 I might have got them mixed up when I put the list up. Although could you imagine Joey Styles doing some singing/karoke...

In response to the Daughtry part, I mainly got into him from hearing "Feels Like Tonight" over a tannoy in a local supermarket, I asked what the artist was and looked up some of his stuff and quite liked it but I haven't been fully impressed by his second album tbh, same like Puddle of Mudd, loved Come Clean, but just can't listen to many tracks from Life on Display.
