Pokémon GO

Nope. I have family playing and their AR works perfectly. Thats the only thing I can't really do on it so it doesn't bother me much.

apparently it's to do with phoine hardware and gyroscopes. Ah well.

AR makes it very hard to catch Pokemon easily anyway. Better off without.

I only turn AR on if I want to take a picture of where I'm catching the Pokemon. Last night I caught a Ghastly at Fenway Park during the intermission at a concert I'm at, so I used the AR for that.

Non-AR is way better. You look like slightly less of an idiot when using it.

Watched a guy walk right into a pole today. He bounced off it, kept going and then got pissed because whatever he was after got away. He turned kicked the pole and I think he's still hobbling around. Weird.

Exactly.

People are way busy into virtual world instead of reality.

Yup. I'm very much in the minority for my age group but I never got into Pokemon, I was pretty much the most uncool 10 year old at my school because I would rather shoot hoops or play baseball than look through a pokedex or whatever it was called. I understand the allure of collecting things as I was a huge baseball nerd as a kid but it's just weird to me as an adult when I'm at a bar or even worse, a concert and I notice my friend has not caught a lick of the conversations going around or the last two songs becuase he's poké'd out like he just shot 2 cc's of dope and left reality indefinitely.

Now with this, it's 5th grade all over again except now my friends are adults....playing this shit when they should be working or socializing with other adults which makes it even more mind boggling to me. I realize this is 2016 and people socialize digitally but you miss a lot of life if you're always looking at a phone.

Call me crotchety, old school or grandpa or whatever the hell is hip to say now, but am I the only one who finds it disrespectful to have these stops at places like the Arlington Cemetary and the Holocaust museum? You can argue "oh it draws people to those locations who wouldn't normally seek them out" but do you honestly think those people have any interest in learning anything at the Holocaust museum or paying respect to a deceased loved one or do they just wanna brag to their pokefriends that they just caught a Douchieoto? There's been random 20 somethings wandering around on some of my job sites this past week looking for pokemon. I had to explain to them that I didn't care what they were looking for, go do it on public property and fuck off because you don't work here. I couldn't help but laugh at the similarity of this situation and having to chase crackheads out of our work vans and trailers.

I was talking to my niece today and Pokemon go came up, which makes more sense than talking about it with co-workers seeing as she's a teenager and we weren't on the clock, but she was telling me she read something about people using it to lure suckers into robberies ala Craigslist, which is kind of funny if true. It sucks to get robbed or walk into stationary objects but hey, pull your head out of your ass and pay attention to your surroundings. Is a child's game worth getting hit by a car driven by someone else fuckin around on their phone?

If your into playing pokemon that's cool. Whatever do your thing I don't care, to each their own,but like anything else...common sense, moderation and consideration of the people and things in your vicinity. I'm sure this post is as uncool as I was in 5th grade to Pokémon trainers.

Right, sir.

The thing is that technology was made for us, we weren't made for technology. The control needs to be in our hand, not in the hands of technology. People need to differentiate between virtual life & reality.

Or just watch where we're going, like the game warns us to do when we turn it on.

Yeah kinda what I was getting at, if you wanna play it whatever, I have hobbies some people probably find lame, that's cool man different strokes. However one dude has already admitted to driving and playing this. Do people always follow warnings and read all disclaimers? The side of a liquor bottle tells you not to drive or operate heavy machinery after you drink it but some people think that's a suggestion not a warning. I'm sure some people do play it without being a public disturbance and endangering people, and to those of you I say kudos enjoy your Pokémon hunting and training.

And Nate you can continue to fuck yourself since apparently you must do a lot of it. I said if you wanna play it, whatever that's cool do your thing. It's no problem until a-holes trespass on my job site when I'm trying to work (you know labor?)and I have drop everything to explain to seemingly intelligent adults you're not supposed to trespass on a construction site or private property. Just try to keep from walking into shit and being a douche in public and it's all good, no aneurysms here.

I also never stated that you think it's real. I said it seems silly that ADULTS are sucked in to a game to the point where nothing outside your phone matters. Sorry not everyone is part of your cult and I'm sorry you take pokemon so seriously you can't handle a dissenting opinion from yours. Do you usually throw temper tantrums when people think differently from you...wait dumb question. What a surprise someone obsessed with a video game to the point that it's "ruining his life"( to draw from your OP, yeah I realize it was meant in jest, but people say there is truth in jest right?) is acting childish.

If you're knickers are in a twist over someone not digging the fad then yeah, maybe you do take it a little too seriously and maybe you should take a break and go out and smell the flowers without a phone in your face. You sound like your drug of choice needs to be xanax bruthaaaa.

I'm sorry you wasted time you could have been catchin em all responding to my post. Enjoy your childhood nostalgia sir.

And Nate you can continue to fuck yourself since apparently you must do a lot of it.

Anything you say about being an adult is has been immediately disregarded. Jesus.

Yeah that's not all that you said. You wouldn't have received any sort of response for blatantly stating the obvious. My issue with you was this:

playing this shit when they should be working or socializing with other adults which makes it even more mind boggling to me. I realize this is 2016 and people socialize digitally but you miss a lot of life if you're always looking at a phone.

We are socializing. Do you think everyone is just walking around in herds silently? And you're saying that you're friend is acting like he's on dope while you guys are actually drinking a mind altering substance? Maybe he just doesn't find your drunk conversation as interesting as you do. Maybe you're fucking boring.

Or maybe you don't drink when you go to the bar. Which would emphatically answer the "Are you boring?" question.

I also never stated that you think it's real.

And I didn't quote you when I said that.

I said it seems silly that ADULTS are sucked in to a game to the point where nothing outside your phone matters.

You're talking about the minority. People who get sucked into their phone to the point that they aren't paying attention to their surroundings aren't going to do so anymore due to this fucking game. It's as if everyone has forgotten that most of the population walking around in public were doing so with their faces glued to their phones long before this game came around.

Sorry not everyone is part of your cult and I'm sorry you take pokemon so seriously you can't handle a dissenting opinion from yours.

I have never cared about Pokemon. I don't even know what most of them are. I have a vague memory from elementary school when I used to collect the cards but even then it was just to get money.

It isn't even about this specific fad. Last year (or the year before, I don't know. Time is just a blur these days) the fad was doing the Ice Bucket Challenge and despite the fact that it did no harm to anyone, there were still contrarian ***** who just had to shit on it. It's not hurting anyone in any real way. If it mildly inconveniences you, so what?

Do you usually throw temper tantrums when people think differently from you...wait dumb question. What a surprise someone obsessed with a video game to the point that it's "ruining his life"( to draw from your OP, yeah I realize it was meant in jest, but people say there is truth in jest right?) is acting childish.
Hyperbole

I don't play very many video games at all but I am susceptible to being sucked into one every now and then. I'll get bored and move on eventually.

You think telling someone to go fuck themselves is a temper tantrum? It's something I say pretty frequently.

The implication I take umbrage to is that the people walking around playing this game are somehow the mindless zombies. Most of these people are usually the kind of people to be inside all day but instead are actually out socializing and exercising. From what I can see anyway, maybe my experience has been an anomaly but I've been going out virtually every night for about a week now and this is all I have seen.

Meanwhile you're talking about going to a fucking bar as if it's somehow more adult. Who the fuck goes to a bar after the age of 23? I'll gladly take socializing with a bunch of nerds/children over a bunch of drunks.

I lost weight playing pokemon go. I'm not fat or anything but I use to drink a lot, got a belly or I'm old....anyways, pokemon go is fun and something me and the wife enjoy doing together.

Pokemon Go is great. It's started helping people lose weight, get more knowledgeable about their neighborhoods and go places they otherwise would not have gone, and it allows you to meet new people. I can't tell you how many times I've passed a group of people playing Pokemon Go and stopped to chat with them about what they're looking for and how much progress they've made (yes I can, it's twice, but that's two more times I've had conversations with strangers than I normally would have).

What an exciting time to be alive.

Had to put the spoiler tag because the image is just so big. On the phone it is anyways.

Edit: it seems to be fine now...

Edit again: nope, definitely need the spoiler tags.

Why you so bothered?

Lose weight? Getting out? Socializing? It has been out for a week. Are we really acting like this is changing lives. This is creepy. It is very South Park come to life.

Am I wrong about this? I respect your opinions because of your huge penises.

Guy realises he's on a wrestling forum right? You know, that form of entertainment that's popular when you're in, you guessed it, 5th grade before being something most people don't want to admit they like in public because it's social suicide?

The people playing Pokemon GO are either the kids enjoying life, or people with a rush of childhood nostalgia because they can experience something that made them happy for what feels like the first time again. That's pretty cool.

Sorry he can't have a conversation interesting enough to distract someone from a phone app for 10 seconds. Maybe all those stories of labouring around the construction site aren't as exciting as they sound.
