AJ is the prototype twink. He looks just like a guy you'd see in gay porn.

Not that I would know or anything.

So you aren't denying Batista is a ****** and a miserable cunt while admitting you jerk off to AJ when the girls don't come? Sounds like he drew a few money shots to me.

If Shawn was able to do it, why shouldn't I believe Rey couldn't. I'm sure people would believe Shawn's offense wouldn't do much to Vader, but it seems he came out all right in those matches

I dunno about you, I wouldn't place Rey on Shawn's level. Not has a performer or a draw... which is sad since Shawn wasn't a strong one. Rey's best when he's chasing, not when he's defending.

Batista headlined a Wrestlemania against Triple H. He, at that moment, was the top face in the company. 940,000 PPV buys. Has AJ drawn that many PPV buys in his career?

I'm not saying that really proves anything nor am I even saying Batista should win. Just that it would take some convincing to make me believe that AJ was even half as big an attraction as Batista was.

Yeah, I'd take that at face value since TNA is no where near WWE's level. They wouldn't draw that many if they paid fans to buy it from them. I was thinking more about the impact Tista/AJ had on the ratings of their shows. Smackdown was never that impressive, but I remember that Awesome Kong was a bigger draw than Angle and Sting for a short time.

I'd be willing to buy that, and it made me think long and hard, until I realized something.

That's also the highest buyrate Batista drew.

When he was pulled away from Triple H, what did Batista actually become?

Maybe he didn't live up to that number, but when has AJ ever come close to that? Do you think if you took all the buys from every PPV AJ has ever headlined, it would come out even comparable to that one Batista number?

It's silly to look at that number alone, but do you really think AJ Styles has drawn more PPV buys or ratings than Batista? I'm not arguing whether or not AJ is better, just that Batista was absolutely a bigger attraction.

Lol, now apparently Shawn Michaels can hold his own against anyone due to his "enigmatic allure." Also, apparently Vader was a top of the card guy :lmao:

People keep saying Batista was dominant which I don't get seeing how half the time he was chasing a title and the other half he was on the shelf. Has Batista ever beaten a major talent other than Triple H without losing to the person several times before or after? Randy? Nope. Cena? Nope. Edge? Nope. Undertaker? Nope. Jericho? Nope. Booker? Nope. Rey? Nope. Hell, even Khali eluded him twice.

Pretty sure it said Michaels could hold his own against any big guy, and if Vader wasn't a top draw then what was he, a midcarder? LOL. Because career midcarders are always pushed to the world title picture in every promotion they work.

With neither having read the comment in question nor knowing who he is fighting against in the tournament, Vader was indeed a top of the card guy. I don't really know how you could argue otherwise when you're not only judging his later WWF years. In 1996 he certainly was a top force in the WWF, but his really good years were in the beginning of the 90's when he was equal to Sting and Flair and in later and early years in Japan where he beat Misawa and Hashimoto among others and was a multiple times world champion.

8 time world champion, holding the titles for over a thousand days. If that doesn't say top guy I don't know what is.

 Still strikes me as an upper mid card guy all things considered. I think some people think there are more top guys than I do, especially when the context is guys Rey won't beat. It isn't like he hasn't defeated Batista several times, oh wait ...

I used to like Vader. Every year I start to dislike him a little more solely because of this tournament. At least people haven't started glamorizing working excessively stiff yet.

Actually, the answers to Randy, Cena, Rey, and Jericho are all yes. Additionally, Dave's one of the only men to beat Taker clean in recent years. Furthermore, the cheap wins Edge and Booker have over him are offset by clean, dominating wins which settled those issues.

Don't be a ponce. The man was wildly protected.

For reasons of being bored and to show it's not an easy feat I have compiled a list of wrestlers who held world titles (WWE, WHC, NWA, WCW, WCWI, AWA, TNA, ECW, ROH, IWGP, AJPW) for at least 1,000 days:

01: Verne Gagne: 4677
02: Bruno Sammartino: 4040
03: Ric Flair: 3783
04: Lou Thesz: 3749
05: Hulk Hogan: 3362
06: Nick Bockwinkel: 2990
07: Bob Backlund: 2138
08: The Great Muta: 1833
09: Harley Race: 1801
10: Mitsuharu Misawa: 1799
11: Dory Funk: 1563
12: Dan Severn: 1559
13: Shinya Hashimoto: 1307
14: Hiroshi Tanahashi: 1217+
15: John Cena: 1163
16: Gene Kiniski: 1159
17: Triple H: 1155
18: Adam Pearce: 1078
19: Jeff Jarrett: 1064
20: Pedro Morales: 1027
21: Vader: 1005

Aside from Severn and Pearce for obvious reasons and maybe Jarrett I think being on this list places you at an elite level. In any case it shows that you dominated and were on top of the cards for a long time, well above the "upper midcard".

How often was he defending those Japan titles though? Did he really only successfully defend them 5 times in 628 days of reigning as champion? Either way, pleasure dealing with a Vader fan that is intelligent. I vaguely remember what it was like to enjoy Vader for reasons such as these.

For me though top guy isn't about titles so much as where you consistently are on the card when you don't have the title.

Uh, yeah without question. Batista would be a godsend for TNA.

I don't know, I like to think that TNA is so inept that they'd manage to destroy Batista in a matter of months. Have they ever really had success booking a big man long term?

That's not to say AJ would do any better in the WWE. Just like how his size allowed him to thrive in the Impact Zone, it would hold him back in the WWE.

Either way, wouldn't you rather have a big fish in a big pond than a big fish in a small pond?

Those would probably be TNA's most profitable months. I don't think they could really fuck up Batista though. WWE started him out as Deacon Batista and no one ever seemed to remember.

Very true.

Well yeah, but I was asked if Batista would draw well in TNA. I certainly think he would. Maybe not at WWE's level, but certainly more than AJ ever has.

Wish I could have my vote back after Tasty's post in the Mysterio - Vader thread. I might still have voted Vader but it's not crystal clear any more.

Can't wait for Brock vs. michaels tomorrow. I'm sure that will be littered with "Shawn was the best eva" comments.

I wish IrishCanadien was more willing to call out more legitimate posters. Taking on the dregs of the forums doesn't make Vader any less of a flop in the WWF
