Impact Wrestling - August 4, 2011

Opening Segment - Kinda mixed on the opener of the show. I thought Ray & Anderson did well on the mic and I'm not at all surprised to see these two in a match at Hardcore Justice. I can't say that I'm especially interested in the match, I'd just rather listen to them go at it with words as that's where both are clearly the strongest. I thought Fortune was kinda unnecessary really. The only purpose they served was to have another tedious, dull faction brawl. Also, somebody please keep Kazarian off the microphone. His "Bully Ray Cyrus" comment was sickeningly dumb. He can't talk so just keep the mic out of his hand. Thumbs In The Middle

Miss Tessmacher vs. Madison Rayne - Eh, not much to say here. The gals looked hot, that's really about all you can say. It lasted 90 seconds with Tessmacher winning via small package. I thought Mickie James was fairly lousy doing commentary and her beating at the hands of Winter & Angelina Love post match just fell flat. No Stars

AJ Styles vs. Devon - Fairly decent while it lasted. But this is one of those matches in which TNA really tries to make both guys look as though they're on the same level when they're not and it's completely obvious to everyone watching. Styles takes his eye off the match as he notices Daniels sitting close to ringside. Devon rolles Styles up for the upset victory at the 3.5 minute mark. On one hand, it does give the BFG Series a sense of unpredictability. On the other, there's simply no money in Devon. He's not a main eventer, we all know it. The heated words between Styles & Daniels afterward suggests a potential heel turn for one of them and a feud thereafter. *1/2

Samoa Joe vs. The Pope D'Angelo Dinero - Really, just kind of a nothing match between these two. If anything, this match mostly just reminded me of how awful their feud was and how long it was needlessly dragged out. The ending comes about 2.5 minutes in when Joe referses a roll up and locks in the rear naked choke for the submission. However, the ref reversed the decision as Joe didn't release the hold. I hate it when that happens in matches. It just irritates me. The match was over, Joe had won the match so anything he did to Pope afterward should have no bearing. After all, how often do you see TNA matches in which there's all kinds of interference, tag teams who are all in the ring brawling while the ref just looks on, etc. and nobody gets DQ'd or has a match decision reversed for continuing to put a hurtin' on your opponent afterward. 1/4*

Bobby Roode vs. Hernandez - Pretty good match here, better than what I thought it'd be. There was some good physical action involved though I have to admit that I was turned off by all the unprotected head shots during the match. At 7 minutes, it was a little longer than I expected it but still much too short for a match of this type. But, as I said, there was some good physical action here and Roode continues to show what I think is main event level ability. There were a couple of "stupid ref" moments during the match. For instance, Rosita climbs up onto the apron during the match and the ref admonishes her for being there, yet he just stands there looking at Sarita when she hits Roode in the back with a kendo stick. It's like he forgot that the match is no DQ for a few seconds. Hernandez uses the distraction caused by Sarita hitting Roode to roll him up for the win. **1/4

Alex Shelley vs. Austin Aries - Very good match from these two, easily one of the best matches I've seen on the show this year. That's not exactly saying much when you consider the fact that the wrestling content of the show for the vast majority of this year has sucked, but this was an energetic, competitive back and forth match. It was a little on the short side at only 6 minutes, but it did make you wanna see these two go at it given a good 15 minutes. They could've sold the effects of the moves a little more but it also wasn't some mindless spot fest. This is the type of action the X Division needs instead of filling it with vanilla spot monkeys. Aries gets the win after hitting the Brainbuster on Shelley. ***

Eric Young - I didn't see this. I went to take a piss break while it was on. I've no idea what happened but I have little doubt that it was a shitass rotten segment that could've been skipped to give some of these matches a few extra minutes. N/A

Kurt Angle vs. Sting Replay - I kinda liked this and I kinda didn't. It was something very different as we don't see segments like this very often in any company. Angle didn't sound very enthusiastic while talking. Truth is, he sounded bored half to death the entire time. Plus, the empty arena match with Sting was a pretty shitty match in and of itself. The actual segment itself wasn't much but I liked the originality of the overall presentation. Thumbs In The Middle

Rob Van Dam & Crimson vs. Scott Steiner & Gunner - Pretty good tag match here with some good work from everyone involved. Even Gunner looked pretty decent here and that's rare. Crimson looked pretty impressive here, it's just too bad that he has absolutely zero personality at the moment. This was a BFG Series match and the ending comes about 7 minutes in. Steiner is setting RVD up on the top turnbuckle for the Frankensteiner, but Crimson hits the electric chair drop on Steiner. RVD follows up with the Five Star Frog Splash for the win and 7 points in the BFG Series. **1/2

Sting & Kurt Angle Contract Signing - This bored the crap out of me, it really and truly did. Much of it revolved around these guys talking about how much respect that they have for each other, how highly they think of one another and all this. Basically, most of it was career ******io. There's just been no real conflict with this feud and they've done absolutely nothing really to make me care about this match. Also with Angle seemingly obsessed with the fact he's never beaten Sting, it's pretty much a sure thing that Angle walks out of the ppv with the title. Thumbs Down

Overall Show - I thought the show was pretty decent overall. There were some bright points on the show, most of which revolved around some of the matches on the card. The opening segment was part basic Immortal promo coupled with your standard faction brawl with just a dash of trouble within the ranks. The Knockout match was nothing. The feud with Bully Ray & Anderson has potential, though I have to say that I'm not overly interested in actually seeing them wrestle each other. Styles vs. Devon was ok for what it was though I'm mixed on the ending. Joe vs. Pope was nothing and the post match promo from Joe hints he might be heading into "shoot" territory. If that's where they're headed, I hope he doesn't come off like a poor man's CM Punk. The Roode vs. Hernandez street fight was better than I was expecting, though I was turned off by the unprotected head shots and it needed much more time. Shelley vs. Aries might be the best singles tv match I've seen from TNA in 2011. Great effort and an example of what the X Division needs instead of vanilla midgets. The BFG Series tag team match was an overall solid match with good action. The Angle vs. Sting storyline just hasn't interested me at all. They're so hung up on blowing each other that they've failed to establish any real conflict, intensity or even meaning into this feud. It's just a really lackluster TNA WHC program.

I can't believe we've reached the day where a wrestling fan says that. In fact, maybe my favorite thing about the match(which I enjoyed too, BTW) were the forceful shots to the head with the trash can lid and kendo stick. It just gives it more of a "street fight" feel. If anything I thought the violence level could have been ratcheted up a little more.

This overly protective era of wrestling is, at times, a serious annoyance. I long for the days when a guy like Balls Mahoney could walk into a wrestling ring on national television and destroy another man's head with a cringingly stiff chairshot.

Sting's promo was amazing! I can honestly say that I am so impressed by the Icon it's rediculous. Here is a man that has nothing to prove, his name has Icon in it and has won the title so many times now that its hard to pin down a real number.

And yet he continues to step up his game. His promo on this week's impact has to be one of the best he has ever done. Sting over the years has said the guy he's talking to's name over and over because it stopped him from saying "umm", its an old MC trick. But there was none of that. He spoke well, he spoke strong and covered what he wanted to say without repeating it like HHH or Orton do.

His new gimmick has taken him to an all new level and for those who don't like it, then you just don't get it. Angle spoke over and over how this match will be one of the best of his career. Everyone says Sting can't go any more. I'm so interested to see how this match turns out because Sting has upped his game in every aspect of pro-wrestling. I think he is going to bring it on Sunday.

Like I keep saying on these boards, the only guy more entertaining than the Icon is CM Punk right now, and that's real.

NorCal NightCap

Sorry for the lateness, I was summoned by a young lady to provide services directly after the conclusion of Impact. While I told her she had to wait until after Impact was over, because that is more important, I couldnt put writing a proper NorCal NightCap in front of it.

That said,

Pretty status quo, again. I remember at the hour point, I was like "is this show only been on an hour?!!?!" Usually when I say that, during Smackdown, its because a lot has gotten done and I am enjoying the program. When I said it for Impact, it was because it was a laborious chore watching the show.

Watching Bully ray get something like 19 unecessary semgents, to watching Austin Aries get praised for doing nothing above average, to a showdown between the Mexico guys and Beer Money, that, somehow, did not involve the British Invasion. Oh yea, and dont forget the super hilarious waste of time with Eric Young totally stripping any credibility TNA's mid card title could ever have. I know you are reading this saying "what title?!" Yes, exactly.

Oh yea, and apparently STING AND KURT ANGLE WRESTLE THIS WEEKEND AND IT WILL BE TOTALLY AWESOME AND THEY WRESTLED BEFORE AND WHEN THEY DID THAT WAS ALSO TOTALLY AWESOME.....Much emphasis was placed on this, much, much emphasis. Why in the fucking world TNA thought it a good idea to replay a match that happened two years ago with Angle talking about how awesome it was, when, the entire night was spent on talking about how awesome it was, is beyond me. A chore, like I said.

Decent tag match with Gunner and Scotty Pump Vs Crimson and RVD, plus Tessmacher's entrance save this from being an UTTER abomination.

You are a sad strange little man.
Jim Cornett once said "back in the day, guys didn't really hurt each other, but people thought they did, now they DO kill each other and no one believes it". Why kill the guy with a stiff chairshot?

First off, the feud isn't that intense, shit it's not even the blowoff. Second, it's on your TV show in a shorter match.

Vicious unprotected chairshots should have a purpose. Not just "ooo violence'.

Can anyone here explain the love fest for Aries vs Shelley other than "cool moves"?

Seriously, Shelley does this gruesome looking leg submission (without any real reason or build other than it looking cool), then works the leg a little more, then as soon as Aries gets the advantage he runs....FUCKING RUNS up the turnbuckle and does a dive. Then he doesn't sell the leg the rest of the night.

I get that it's fun to watch guys do a bunch of cool looking shit real smooth but seriously, if they don't sell or tell a story with it, who gives a shit? This isn't gymnastics, they're supposed to be storytellers.

Aries does have a well fleshed out character. The way he does his moves and his mannerisms all match up, but neither Aries or Shelley ever sell anything long term or realistically. They sell and structure their match like it's a video game. Nothing actually looks like it hurts because they don't act like it does.

There is NO art in executing a complex move/sequence at full speed near the end of the match. You're basically just putting on an exhibition at that point. No different than if I went on a hollywood set and said "blow some shit up for me". There is no emotion or story behind it whatsoever.

They need to slow things down, sell a move for once, and tell a coherant story in the ring. What was the point of Shelley's control segment being some fun leg work if Aries isn't even going to sell it and totally disregard everything once it's time for the finishing stretch?

Impact Wrestling - August 11, 2011

Opening Segment - Generally solid opening segment that set the stage for the night and pushed along several stories. I don't think TNA has a clue as to what they want to do with Anderson at this point. He goes from being the hottest face in TNA to mediocre World Champion to low level thug and now he gets beaten down by Immortal and taken out on a stretcher. I'm just kind over Anderson at this point in time. I think TNA has messed things up and I'll have a lot of trouble taking him seriously as a main event player from here on in. Ray continues to shine on the mic and is really the only guy in Immortal that's worth a damn at this point in time. Ray announces a BFG Series match featuring himself vs. Scott Steiner vs. Gunner vs. Crimson as the main event. This gives me a bad feeling because it just looks like Crimson will beat everyone's ass and make Immortal look like chumps. Still, the segment was well done except for the generally generic beatdown they gave to Anderson. Thumbs Up

Mickie James vs. Madison Rayne - Pretty meaningless 2.5 minute match from the Knockouts here. It's a #1 contender match for the Knockouts Championship, which made no sense because Mickie is supposed to automatically get a rematch as she's the former champion. Some comedy stuff here from Madison that didn't really add anything to the match. It was alright for what it was. Mickie gets the win via her DDT finisher. 1/4*

Brian Kendrick vs. Robbie E - This match was just plain awful. It was also only about 2.5 minutes and was just so stupid to watch that I actually felt a little embarassed. Throughout the match, Cookie tries to interfere while the ref stands there with his thumb up his ass. There's nothing really to speak of as far as action goes and Cookie blatantly interferes at the end. She tries to spray that..well whatever it is into Kendrick's face with the referee standing less than 2 feet away and looking right after. Where's the DQ? You'll see refs in TNA calling for a DQ for something like not breaking on a count of 5 yet, on the same card, you'll see something like this and the ref lets it go on. Kendrick wins via Sliced Bread. 1/4*

Beer Money vs. Rob Van Dam & AJ Styles vs. Devon & The Pope D'Angelo Dinero - This was a BFG Series tag match and had all kinds of potential. It was solid for while it lasted but I thought this was a good example of TNA taking what could be a great television match and watering it down to such a degree that it almost makes you wanna scream in frustration. This is a match that could've main evented any show TNA has, yet it's only given 4.5 minutes. As I said, it was a solid match while it lasted with some good action. I liked the outcome after the action broke down, like we knew it would, with Robert Roode getting the win via the Fisherman Suplex on Dinero. Roode wins, gets 7 points and moves him up to 2nd place in the BFG Series. **

Kurt Angle Promo Segment - This was a lousy segment all around in my opinion. Angle comes out and starts "shooting" on Dixie Carter and going back into the old stuff involving Jeff Jarrett & Karen. They just spent the better part of a year feuding over this stuff and it's just been dragged out and beaten to death. Another thing that really hurt this was that TNA used the canned heat way too much and coupled it with shots of the crowd. Most of the crowd was sitting on its hands and not even making a sound. It's the Impact Zone I know and I got no problem with TNA using canned pops & heat, but at least try to put a little effort into it. But yeah, it looks as if the TNA WHC is indeed gonna be in a holding pattern until BFG. Angle said that he intends to hurt the young talent of TNA before heading up. Sting shows up on stage and knocks the chair out of Angle's hand before Angle drops to his knees to beg. Hogan comes up from behind and hits Sting with a chair to the back before he and Angle share a bro hug. So the story is Angle is upset over Dixie's knowledge of Jeff & Karen before him but is aligned himself with Hogan who is aligned with Jeff & Karent Jarrett? So not only is the reason for Angle's heel turn stuff that happened 3 years ago and stuff that's already been done to death, but he's now formed an alliance with someone who has an alliance with the two people he hates the most. Continuity TNA..please..look it up. Thumbs Down

Tara & Miss Tessmacher vs. ODB & Jackie - First thing I really notices was how comically huge Jackie's knockers are. They're bigger than the rest of her body. You could float to China on them and use them to feed starving village children. As far as the match goes, typical Knockouts stuff. Some decent action mixed in with some tits & ass. I can't say that I honestly care all that much about the Knockouts anymore. Tara & Tessmacher get the win after Tessmacher rolls up Jackie for the win at the 5 minute mark. 1/2*

Jeff & Karen Jarrett - Colossal waste of time. Not only was the segment kind of stupid but it was actually kind of racist. I know there are some blind TNA marks that will defend anything TNA does but c'mon people, there's no need for this crap today. It's not 1985 anymore and it's really a shame that this kind of stuff went on even then. It wasn't anything overt I grant but, racism doesn't have to be raunchy to be insulting. If someone said that my mother was "kind of a ****e but not really a ****e", I wouldn't see any difference. It's still insulting. Thumbs Down

Blocked Beatdown - I don't know if this came out the way TNA had hoped or wanted it to. Anderson is shown backstage all bloody and looking concussed. He comes across Ray and looks as though he's about to attack him when Gunner jumps him from behind. The camera then went to a blocked window and Anderson started screaming like something awful had just happened. It made me think that Anderson was getting taken to brown town by Gunner & Ray. If Anderson shows up on the show next week walking funny, we'll know for sure what happened. N/A

Crimsom vs. Bully Ray vs. Scott Steiner vs. Gunner - This was a BFG Series match and it mostly consisted of Steiner & Gunner working a handicap match against Crimson. I don't think Ray even participated. He'd quickly tag out if he'd been tagged in, which does work for his character. Most bullies are cowards anyhow and I think that's what they wanted to get across here. There were times in which Crimson was double teamed by Gunner & Steiner while the ref..yep, you guessed it: thumb up his cornhole. I think he was wiggling it around a little bit this time. Well, at least the ref stupidity has been consistent on the show. Crimson manages to get the win by hitting a quick roll up at the 5 minute mark on Gunner for the win. . Angle comes out and proceeds to beat Crimson down, including working on Crimson's knee to close the show. *1/4

Overall Show - This was the worst episode of Impact Wrestling I've seen in a while. It very much had the feel of what they were doing not all that long ago: crappy matches that were meaningless or matches that could've been great but were extremely watered down to the point where they almost didn't matter, awful promo segments and the older stars being the full center of attention. For me, the highlight of the match was seeing Bobby Roode get the win in the BFG Series match, moving him up into second place. However, based on tonight, it looks like it's all but guaranteed that Crimson is gonna go to BFG and face Kurt Angle. Nothing to speak up as far as wrestling content goes nor was there really anything to say regarding promos. The Angle alliance with Hogan makes little sense. Kurt is still harping on how he was stabbed in the back by Jeff & Karen Jarrett, now Dixie Carter also, but is now part of an alliance with Hulk Hogan who is part of an alliance with Jeff & Karen. Just an extremely weak show from top to bottom.

Grade: F+

I loved last Nights Show!It was very entertaining, I mean I never once wanted to turn the channel to watch a football game or something like that! That show put a smile on my face. I loved all the promos the matches weren't great but great matches are rare for T.V.nowadays so some of you need to get over that!

I' really enjoyed how they're setting things up like the Mexican angle with Jarret and a possible fued with Angle and Crimson! This show was about storyline advancement and it was done quite well!

A- For not having a Samoa Joe Follow up! But beyond that I was Very Pleased with the show. Good Stuff!

@ Jack Hammer

You know what's funny everything you hated is going to be huge in the progression of the main storylines! Every promo you hated had meaning. So don't come here when things happen and say I'm confused because you weren't willing to listen to what was being said! Everything said in those Promos was interesting and is leading to something!I swear the reason alot of you are confused is because you shit on the Promos and don't pay attention to what is being said! Because all you seem to care about is the matches and how long they were!

You say that the Angle promo makes no sense proves you are not listening to what is being said on a weekly show that you watch! Angle has been asked to join Immortal a number of times by Hogan and so Angle said Hogan Finally convinced him that what Dixie was doing during the whole Karen and Jeff issue wasn't in his best interest!

It All makes sense Immortal wants all the power and the title gives them more power and that's why they add Anderson when he has the Title and then dump him in a week when he loses it! Listen to the Promo's They're quite good!

Last night's Impact can be summed up as followed: Make up your fucking mind TNA!!

Mr. Anderson starts as a great heel, with great momentum. TNA then decides, because of his overness and crowd reaction to push him as a face (a tweener? Whatever, he was face). Then, for some unknown reason, they jump the shark and turn him back to heel and have him join Immortal. Okay? And he's barely been in Immortal a month, which really just consisted of him feuding with Immortal members ANYWAY and TNA then turn him BACK face. What the hell is the point of any of this? This booking is just proof those writing this shit don't have a clue what they're doing becaus they can't make up their minds from one month to the next. Literally.

What was the point of Mr. Anderson winning the World title? He did win the title, right? His reign was so short and insignificant its hard to remember..

What was the point of him joining Immortal? Absolutely nothing.

TNA has the most inconsistent booking I think I've ever seen in a company, and that's just ridiculous. And things don't even make sense. If the whole Mr. Anderson wasn't bad enough we have Kurt Angle jumping from a face to a heel for no reason, either. Because he's mad at Dixie Carter? So, his anger with Dixie Carter over something STUPID is greater then his anger and hatred for Jeff Jarrett and Karen, is that it? He's willing to side with Hogan, whose alligned with Jarrett, because Dixie didn't TELL him about Jarrett and Karen. But he'll side with Jarrett and Karen's cause, which is Hogan's, despite them being the ones who cheated? How the FUCK does that make any sense? Once again, consistency and sheer stupidity is the means in which TNA uses to write their program.

Remember when Angle wanted to WRESTLE all the young talent and everyone in that title tournament to prove he was the best (but he didn't want to be champion yet)? He wanted to have the best matches with all of these young talents, the future of TNA, and he was more then confident he could win over all of them by wrestling ability. What happened to that? Now he's champion and he wants to hold them back and take out all of them? HUH? Contradiction.

Kurt Angle's always been about wrestling, about being the best in the ring by his ABILITY. That's like his fucking gimmick. And now we're suppose to believe that he accepted the fact he couldn't outwrestle and beat an old, past his prime, Sting.. so he took that chair and hit Sting because that's the only way he could win? Yet days before he said he wanted to PROVE he could win by ability alone because he's never beaten Sting cleanly. How does any of this make any sense!?

I hope everyone on the writing staff of TNA randomly, without any logic or reason, blows up. Russo can just be walking down the hall way, drinking coffee, brainstorming his next horrible idea.. and just explode. That's what I want to see happen. I have now officially given up hope, in every possible way, for TNA and its future.

Same type of review as always. Hopefully my computer doesn't crap out. It should be noted I didn't watch Hardcore Justice because I guess that may or may not skew my opinion.

I like the PPV recap video, I don't mind the booking, it probably furthers the angle about Angle not being able to beat Sting clean. I don't buy this bullshit that "HE IZ DA OLIMPIK WRESTLER STING IS TEH OLDZ" that people are spewing. This is pro wrestling, Olympic Gold medals get you credibility on mat wrestling and credibility as a badass, doesn't mean you can't lose.

Opening Segment
Pros: Ray is good as usual. People saying he's a top promo guy are nuts though. He's a northeast asshole basically, which is pretty much him in real life....so....yea, what's the big impressive thing other than actually being able to watch him? Like I said though, he's good at what he does.

Cons: Immortal's music sounds like something off a sega game. Canned heat here gets pretty bad. TNA should just sell beer and charge like 10 dollars for a ticket and serve unlimited beer. I guarantee you'd get a super loud, rowdy, obnoxious audience.

Overall: Not a bad segment. Anderson keeps flipping. Didn't think the blood was necessary. Why? The feud isn't that heated, he hit him with a chain, it's the opening segment on your TV show. Not really needed.

Bischoff doesn't leave his door cracked but luckily the camera crew was able to see what was going on through the shades he left open and he talked loud enough that they could hear him. I really hope this Abyss abuse isn't to turn him into a babyface monster again. I hate that sack of shit.

Match 1 Madison Rayne vs Mickie James
Pros: Rayne is smaller, less athletic, and less skilled so she uses mind games tactics to get the advantage and heel tactics to keep it. Mickie sells everything well. Rayne does her character well. Eventually Mickie's experience and skill brings her the win.

Cons: Really nothing as far as the match goes, seriously. Don't like the card placement though. Your opening match should be more of a "bang bang" style match.

Overall: Perfectly acceptable women's match. Told a story, some character work and crowd play. Good job. This is why Mickie James is awesome.

Brian Kendrick vs Robbie E
Pros: Robbie E shows uncontrolled aggression well and Kendrick sells his ass off like usual. Kendrick gets a hope spot where he flips out of a suplex then hits a forearm, but sells the fatigue/beating and can't follow up immediately; plus he didn't throw the forearm as crisp or quick as you would early in the match. Good job Kendrick. Aries is fun on commentary

Cons: No real cons with the match itself. You have 2 bumbly comic characters, a babyface cruiser. Pretty much exactly how it should be. The only con is probably the booking. You had a talk segment, a women's match, and a character/angle match. Really need some sort of high impact, fast paced match to jumpstart everything. The finish could have been booked better, a ref bump or something but it's TNA so I figure the reffs each reff the match based on their taste.

Overall: I liked the match. It's not a classic, but it served it's purpose and everyone did their job. From Kendrick drawing sympathy as a babyface and coming back for the win to Cookie and Robbie doing their schtick to Aries getting himself and the feud over on commentary.

Pope generously leaves his locker room door cracked just enough for the roaming camera man to check out what's happening.

3 team tag match
Pros: Beer Money is the most coherant, marketable, original thing TNA has going. Good match, lots of action, they further the angle with Devon and Pope, Beer Money wins, logically being the only true tag team in the match.

Cons: Still Hammertime for AJ, so I guess teaming him with RVD and his airbrushed dragons and undercut haircut fits.

Overall: Fun match. Should have probably been the opener though. This is the "bang bang" type of match I was wanting earlier. Do the segment, do this, then slow it down for a bit and come back with more.

Angle promo
Pros: Angle is better as a heel than the "like me because I r a gud wrestler" babyface. I don't mind Angle bringing up the old stuff because it was part of his reasoning to turn heel. Basically Angle is pissed at the establishment. I was hoping he was going to pretend he has integrity and all this heelish stuff. I'm not a fan of "I'm a badass" heel kurt.

Cons: Fuckin shitty canned boos.

Overall: Good segment. Angle's reasoning makes sense I guess. It's a bunch of old guys but I think you need that in at least one feud to draw people in. Kinda weird that a skirmish between Kennedy and Bully Ray ends in blood but Angle screwing Sting out of the title and then Sting showing up and then Hogan beating down Sting doesn't. Not saying I want blood for this segment, just that this makes the blood in the opening segment seem even more meaningless.

TNA jerks off Philly wrestling fans as if those assholes need it. Not a bad promo package after that.

Knockout tag match Team Tits vs Team Lesbians
Pros: Jackie is in amazing shape for having just been carbon dated at 6,000 years old. I appreciate the character stuff from Jackie and ODB. Tara can do just about any move. Which in itself isn't impressive at all, but when paired with people who know what to do with her it can mean a lot. tesla or whatever does her schtick well too. Must have had a smart agent do the match. Tesla does regular clotheslines when Jackie is doing the ol bump and feed, but does a polish hammer when the bigger ODB comes in. It's small, but all the small things add up for a nice match.

Cons: I really don't like 2 women's segments. A "woman's match" is 1 flavor. Plus it's not the most popular flavor, so why overdo it? Because you have women who can do a few moves and you're really proud of it? It's a business, run it like one.

Overall: Another real solid women's match. Everyone sold, everyone stayed in character, everything had a purpose. The only thing I'd like is a little more heel/face distinction. That's more of a booking thing though.

Bischoff was nice enough to crack his door this time. Aries is good at his character. I like it. Too bad he can't sell for fuck or tell a story in the ring unless someone is leading him. Has everything else though.

Jeff Jarrett Segment
Pros: Kinda funny. Who cares if it's a little racist. This is pro wrestling and you see worse comedy sketches everywhere else. I laughed when he added Houston, El Paso, and Miami as Mexican cities. I work with Mexicans and even Mexicans don't like Mexico or most Mexicans. So who gives a shit? It was a funny somewhat racist segment and Jeff is a heel. Plus the mexican lawn team said "the guerrero family is the king of lucha libre".

Cons: Too bad Supermex isn't a babyface. This would have been awesome for him. The segment was fun but it didn't advance much of anything. I don't really blame TNA for using Eddie and the Guerrero name to get something over but it annoys me that Pretty much every mexican and especially any Guerrero still hanging around can get over because of how awesome Eddie was.

Overall: Mixed bag. Fun but somewhat pointless. Should have had a Hector-endorsed young guy challenge Double J haha.

EY segment was fun.

Kennedy's selling as he walked was goofy. The beatdown wasn't that bad, the blood would have been wiped off and yea, he really sold it like shit.

4 Way BFG
Pros: Steiner is lumbering but because he's smart, he fucks with the crowd a lot and does a lot of other low-effort things to get the match over. Bully Ray playing chickenshit was fun too. I like Angle beating down Crimson, I don't like that it may mean Crimson is going to learn from a guy who is a shell of himself and doesn't get a pop on his finishers anymore because he doesn't have any. I also don't like that Crimson may be in the main event.

Cons: The genetic jizzprint is pretty awful on commentary. Should be called "genetically generic" although he's tall so iunno, he's just really really bland. Generic Crimson comes out with generic music wearing a generic shirt with his generic name and his generic haircut and his generic tatoos and his generic skills and his generic overness. Glad they aren't pushing him....O yea, everything I said about Crimson, I say about Gunner. Matt Morgan babbles about some suplex shit that yea, it makes sense, but he speaks in monotone and by the time he's done talking about it, 5 or 6 things have happened in the ring that they aren't talking about. This isn't an ESPN analysis show, it's a pro wrestling show.

Overall: Bully Ray and Steiner try to make a match with the two tribal tatoo fucktwats entertaining but to no avail.

Overall the show wasn't bad. They didn't do anything ridiculously stupid like a ladder match, cage match, or ultimate X for no reason. It was a pretty decent show really if you look at each segment. The flow of the show wasn't that good because of the order of things but it wasn't the worst show in the world

The point of Anderson joining Immortal was so Immortal can have control of the World Heavyweight Title!

And Angle saying he wanted to win against on his own and then getting help from Hogan is called a swerve!

How in the Hell doesn't Angle turn have any logic? He Sat in the ring and explained the whole reason why he finally joined Hogan! And what the hell do you think they were in the ring talking about when angle became number one contender? The damn weather!

This is wrestling dude it has to be unpredictible if angle stayed the same how would that interesting? I sorry but some of you people are clueless!

Hey, long time Not TNA fan here. Just thought I'd say that Wrestlezone has a non spoiler match listing for TNA tonight, and I feel semi motivated to watch!
" Bound For Glory Series Match: AJ Styles vs. Rob Van Dam

- 8 Man X Division Gauntlet For A Shot At The X Championship: Robbie E vs. Alex Shelley vs. Jesse Sorensen vs. Tony Nese vs. Kid Kash vs. Mark Haskins vs. Austin Aries vs. Zema Ion"
from the report. I wish I knew when those matches would be so I don't need to waste my time watching the whole show.

No time to diary this week, but some thoughts from last night:

- Great to see Flair back, but the backstage "looking for Sting" segment went way too long. You wouldn't see a scene like that with most Oscar-winning actors (apologies to Tom Hanks for "Cast Away"). That said, the end was kind of interesting with Sting talking to Gunner after beating him down. I wonder if that's another hint at Immortal's demise.

- Has anyone else noticed that X-Division newcomer Tony Nese looks a lot like a miniature Chris Masters? In light of Masters' availability, maybe those two should pair up for the tag division. They could be the new Power & Glory!

- Also regarding X-Division; where was Kaz? Does he not fit the weight requirement, or has he just moved on? Seems like he hasn't been connected at all to X-Division action since Kendrick beat Abyss.

- I loved the structuring of this show. The Devon/Steiner match and Joe's attack was a decent way to start. Then you had the X-Division Gauntlet. They gave us some significant action and got the momentum going BEFORE Mickie/ODB, which wasn't a bad match BTW.

- Crimson will never win a "Golden Mic" award, but he was sufferable in the segment with Angle. Hopefully once he's been around a while and has some skins in the wall there wil be more substance he can use in promos. While they've given the guy a win streak, they haven't done much to make me care about him. Hopefully Angle really does "make" him.

- It was pretty obvious Beer Money was going to drop the belts last night. Between the short turnaround from the lats match with Mexican America and having Jarrett at commentary, the circumstances screamed "Screwjob." However, as it hopefully serves as the catalyst for Roode and Storm's singles pushes, I'm not complaining.

- Nice closing image of the heels celebrating, BTW. I know people love to bash Jarrett, but he cracks me up when he's doing his super-happy, camera-hogging stuff. As a child of the late 80s/early 90s, I'll always have a soft spot for old-school heels.

TNA Impact Wrestling - August 18, 2011

Opening Segment - It just seems to me that TNA is starting to move backwards into their style of keeping the older guys the center of attention and weaving the show around them. I know some people love the nostalgia of Sting & Flair but I'm looooooong since over these nostalgia kicks in TNA. I'm not especially concerned with watching the legends have yet another moment of glory and the idea of Sting "leaving" for good if he loses is an aspect that TNA has done to death. It's meaningless. Yes, I know that this is all a prelude that will probably lead to Hogan vs. Sting down the line. I'm looking forward to that match even less than I have watching Sting vs. Flair. Thumbs Down

Devon vs. Scott Steiner - This match lasted all of a minute and was about as weak as it gets for a 60 second match. The ending with Steiner scooping Devon's legs out and using the ropes for additional leverage looked sloppy as hell. Joe took out Devon afterward. I guess Pope came out afterward, I dunno and didn't really care. No Stars

X Division Gauntlet Match - I'm not a fan of gauntlet matches because most of them are too short to mean anything. That seemed especially true here and this entire thing just seemed incredibly rushed. TNA just shoved all these guys, several of whom are complete unknowns. The crowd was sitting on its hands throughout most of this and there really wasn't anywhere near enough time to generally get much of a read on anyone. Mark Haskins, when he came out in his gear, looked like a poor man's John Morrison. Jesse Sorrenson didn't seem like anything special nor did Tony Nese. Robbie E. continues to look like a tool. Having guys like Shelley & Kash jobbing out to unknowns like Haskins & Nese just didn't do much for me. All it did was make Shelley & Kash look weak. I also wasn't that crazy about the fact that the wrestlers would be ranked in terms of their X Division Championship contendership based on what order they were eliminated. I'm at least glad that they wound up with Austin Aries winning the last matcy by pinning Tony Nese with the brainbuster. The whole thing went about 12 minutes and the only guy that generally came out looking like he was anything at all was Aries. The post match brawl with Brian Kendrick was well done but it's too little too late I think. I just want to see the title taken off Kendrick. His character is lame and he's just not the guy that should be the face of the X Division. *1/2

Mickie James vs. ODB - This was actually a pretty good match, far above the usual for the Knockouts. I'm not especially interested in the storyline of ODB & Jackie working towards getting spots on the roster. It's just kinda stupid when you think about it. They're already on the roster, everyone knows that and it's just a lazy booking idea quite frankly. The match itself, however, as a good back and forth match that was given some decent time for the gals to do their thing. Mickie James is as bland as it gets, but she can go inside the ring. ODB looked strong and gave as good as she got. Mickie winds up getting the win at the 6 minute mark after hitting the DDT on ODB. **

AJ Styles vs. Rob Van Dam - This should have been a match that anyone would be excited about. Two years ago, people would be creaming themselves at the prospect of these two meeting. Now, it mostly had as much relevance as most other matches on the card. The match lasted a little more than 5 minutes and was good while it lasted. However, describing this match as being "good while it lasted" really isn't something that should be applied here. It should've been given time and hype to actually mean something. RVD also seemed to be generally just slower and not all that smooth here. It definitely had something of a phoned in feel to it. The ending comes when Styles hits the Pele Kick and Jerry Lynn comes out and pulls the ref out of the ring, getting RVD DQ'd. Yeah, they're still doing this thing with Lynn trying to "watch" RVD's back and all. Just put them in a match and be done with it because that's where they're going. Weak ending to a pretty weak match that could have been great. *1/2

Crimson & Kurt Angle - I'm kinda mixed on this segment. On one hand, it's nice to finally hear Crimson get some mic time. He wasn't exactly great or anything, but he did a decent job. He was better than I expected him to be. As I was listening to Kurt Angle, I honestly couldn't help but sort of agree with what he was saying about Crimson. I know it's not TNA's intention to make the guy look weak or anything but I honestly don't see anything all that special about the guy. He hasn't had that standout moment that makes me think "Yeah, this guy's a star" and trying to portray him as being someone on Angle's level at this time just doesn't work for me. I know they're pushing Crimson hard but he's just not there. He's not nearly on the same level as Kurt Angle and I find myself wishing that they hadn't have gone there yet. Thumbs In The Middle

Beer Money vs. Mexican America for the TNA World Tag Team Championship - Standard overbooked IW main event that results in a tag title change. We all knew it was coming and I wish they'd have just done it at Hardcore Justice and been done with it. The match lasted about 6 minutes and had 3 run-ins. The match ends with Hernandez hitting Robert Roode with Jarrett's AAA Title and getting the win. *1/4

Overall Show - I thought this week's show was also pretty weak. Ric Flair & Sting dominated much of the landscape tonight and generally got the most attention out of anyone. I was hoping that TNA had stopped going on these nostalgia kicks. Match content on the show was pretty poor. The Knockout match between Mickie James & ODB was the best match on the card, that should give a good idea as to how lousy the wrestling was when you had RVD vs. AJ Styles on the card. The BFG Series matches came across as meaningless tonight. Steiner beats Devon in about a minute and Style & RVD deliver a forgettable 5 minute match in a BFG Series that's been dominated by forgettable 5 minute matches. The X Division Gauntlet Match just felt incredbily rushed. Instead of introducing us to these guys and allowing us to sort of get to know them, TNA just crams all of them into a series of about 5 or 6 matches that lasts a grand total of about 12 minutes. Aside from just feeling extremely rushed, the individual X Division matches were far too short and it was like watching a bunch of guys wrestle that you don't know or care about it. Angle & Crimson had a decent promo segment and the main event was ok but it was overbooked and Mexican America won the tag titles. We knew it was coming and it was every bit as mediocre as I imagined. I'm glad that TNA is putting some emphasis on the X Division but, good lord people, slow down. Stop trying to cram weeks worth of potential angles & stories into a single 12 minute segment.

Grade: D-

Same review type as always.

Opening Segment
Pros: Sting calls out the "greatest of all time", and gets Flair. If you slow the video down, they sound like a bunch of crazy old drunks talking about the good ol' days.

Cons: Who the fuck is saying all these things? Sting vs Flair, Hogan one more match? Yes, 400 tourists who look like helen keller dressed them want that. If it was such a draw your fucking ratings and live attendance figures, and youtube hits of these episodes would be higher. "I win, you retire, you win, I give you Hogan" in an unhyped TV match? Hmm, why not just announce who wins? Why even have the match?

Overall: Yea what the fuck? At the last Nitro, even though Flair was out of shape and Sting wasn't really Sting, it made sense. But here? What the fuck? And again with the shitty not so "cracked" doors.

Hogan throwing shit around in roid rage is hilarious. No wonder his wife took his money and banged a younger guy. Again, slow it down and it's a hilarious drunken old man conversation. Hogan still doesn't know what a crucifixion is. This does make me wanna drink with these guys and listen to their crazy shit.

Match 1 Devon vs Steiner
Pros: I like Matt Morgan's "do not use heavy machinery while watching" shirt, o wait, he doesn't have that, he should though. The secret to beating Devon must be putting your feet on the ropes near the corner. Worked for Bully Ray, worked for Scotty. Donno how that's a pro. yay for my samoan brosef.

Cons: What a fucker Devon is. Buying like 6 tickets for his family, normal people would really like those seats I'm sure. Then again, they're the only 6 people who give a shit about this bland bastard.

Overall: more of an angle than a match, it worked, Scotty got the win and they didn't give devon enough time to put people to sleep.

Joe cuts an awesome Samoa Joe ROH circa 2003/2004 promo, PLEEEAAAASE start ending it with "I am Samoa Joe and I am pro wrestling". It would fit in with all the "wrestling matters" stuff and be just plain awesome. Also like that Joe acknowledged the camera guy.

Match 2: X Gauntlet
Pros: When Alex Shelley is in the ring, sure there is no selling going on, no storytelling, no character work, but because he's moving around so fast all the time and making everything look as unbelievable and fake as possible, and because TNA has their ring mics so loud, it sounds like popcorn. Kinda cool. I do like the Cookie/Robbie E character work. Finally giving me someone to give a shit about because I at least see their motivations. I like that Taz puts the kid in red over by saying "played high school football in Texas". If you play high school football anywhere else, big fuckin deal. In Texas, that's saying something (being totally serious here, some of their high schools outdrew my college in football attendance). Aries does a great job with his character.

Cons: Alex Shelley here bringing you no selling since 2002. Kid Kash? I thought that was Crimson, you know, shitty haircut, generic tatoos. Mark Haskins aka the biggest Jeff Hardy mark in the world. More Robby E, less generic flippity floppity. Hey I know how to introduce a bunch of new guys. Cram them all in one match so people have more names to remember. It'll work especially well since they all wear baggy/shiny pants and wrestle a similar style. Having normal 1 on 1 watches that highlight their strengths and characteristics wouldn't have worked at all. My apologies, I forgot to add kickpads. It's either shiny pants, baggy pants, or kickpads. I know you fucks love kickpads. Yes, muscular fuck in the brown and blue pants, after you drive a guy on his head and get a 2 count, you should pick him up off the mat instead of applying a hold, why not just tell everyone "I don't actually wanna win, this is really just a moves exhibition"? A double springboard moonsault gets kicked out of by a no name? O well, Kid Kash is a huge star so I'm sure he knows ....what...he's....okay yea that's fuckin stupid. What the fuck was that roll up? Kid Kash with a Jay Driller that no one pops for because for the last 10 minutes you haven't been selling a fucking thing and making it look super fake so nobody in the audience buys that it would actually hurt even though it probably did. Good job dipshits.

Overall: This is cruiser style gone wrong. You don't sell anything and just throw a bunch of spots out there with a bunch of no names who all wrestle the same and no one gives a shit. Surprise surprise. I bet no one remembers any of these kids' names, shit I don't. Then again, people on here probably loved this match because more cool moves=great match right?

Flair segment. Flair is crazy but it's entertaining to me. Don't care for his matches. Would rather it be like a nursing home/nuthouse segement where you see what the crazy old guys are up to.

lol both of Anderson's eardrums are ruptured. Good, keep him off TV.

Tits 1 and Tits 2 talk about their roster spot then Tits 3 talks to Bischoff that we see since, as usually, he kindly leaves his door cracked. TITS GALORE!!!!! What's interesting is that the globe in the back of the room is actually the size of one of Tits 3's boobs.

Match 3: Tits 1 with Tits 2 vs Mickie James
Pros: Tits. How amazing is Mickie James? I mean really, she was amazing back in her WWE days and she's still amazing. In ring, character, on the mic, WWE needs to sign her. You can tell Mickie was in "the show" because she always finds cameras and sets up so they get her at the best time. I think JJ made a joke last week about how some of the boys can't do this. Nice little bit of psychology, Mickie can't get ODB down for a roll up because of ODB's superior size and strength. Little thing that if you do enough of these little things they start painting a picture in your head. Mickie using grace to get out with the cartwheel, it's what I mean when I talk about a "divas style unique to women". Mickie seems legit over in the Impact Zone, hmmm, wonder why? Mickie James sells a shoulder tackle from ODB more than all 7 guys sold anything in the X guantlet. It's not just TAKING the move, but also long term selling. I guess I should complement ODB on carrying her character and using her size and other attributes to create a real well fleshed out on screen persona.

Cons: Wow no cons.

Overall: Mickie is fuckin awesome. Last week on commentary all week, didn't sound out of place, great matches week after week. I'd say she's the best women's wrestler on mainstream TV, probably the world since I'm not impressed with Japanese women screaming and throwing each other on their heads.

Segment with the lesser women. My theory on plastic surgery, do you want to look 30, or like a 20 year old....lizard. Winter has a REALLY masculine jawline. Fuckin weird segment. I guess it was in a good way.

Match 4: RVD vs AJ Styles
Pros: Luckily the crowd will always remember who RVD is and what era they watched him wrestle in. Undercut haircut? Airbrushed dragons and yin yangs? Used to be a con, but now I've realized RVD's thought process is to never change a damn thing because he's content doing what he does (and making the money he does). Jerry Lynn is in the crowd, which, buying a ticket is the only way he should have his face on this show. Both guys do shit that looks cool and they take moves in cool looking ways too. This match looks cool. Doesn't really do it for me because there isn't a lot of substance there, but it does it's job with its intended audience. I don't mind Lynn, it furthers the story. However, I don't wanna see Lynn vs RVD, they were overrated matches 10 years ago.

Cons: Hammertime Styles entrance. Pointless chain wrestling disguised as a feeling out process that looks fake because nothing looks like a struggle and when they botch RVD's bodyscissors roll up instead of going with it and turning it into something else they just pretend like it still worked. In a nutshell, that's my problem with RVD. Sure his matches build and start as chain wrestling then get bigger and bigger, but there's no real story to it and if he botches something he doesn't just go with it, he continues the spot.

Overall: Not really my style, sort of a bunch of cool looking stuff. I get it though, so I understand why it's good for the show.

Crazy old Ric walks around the nuthouse talking to himself. I thought it was a funny segment if you don't think of it in "this what they're building the show as" but rather "nuthouse/nursinghome out takes". Some normal looking warehouse worker named Gunner is hired to beat up Sting. By that I mean if you go to a warehouse, a lot of their workers look like Gunner. Maybe not as ripped (but more than you'd think), but the same basic look.

I like the EY segments, but why show that he actually finds Scott Baio?

Shitty Crimson gets a segment. Awesome canned heat.
Pros: Angle speaks the truth basically. "uncoordinated green ass little bitch". Crimson can't keep up. Angle says that he's been spit on, not that the young guys do that. Crimson is the dumb anxious young guy. No Crimson, you're not anyone.

Cons: Crimson's douche shirt and jeans match his douche haircut and douche tatoos. Looks really generic too though. Find a guy that looks like him in any bar.

Overall: Not a bad Crimson promo, but fuck, butt fuck. Dude is generic as hell.

I'm really tired, gonna review the main later.

Wow. Wooooow.

Is TNA serious? (not exactly what the Joker would say but close enough, right Sting?)

I guarantee anyone who watched the opening segment of Impact this past week, whose not a loyal TNA fan (or a wrestling fan who forces himself to sit through TNA), probably turned off that show because of that horrendous opening segment. Sting ridiculously flops around down to the ring, then he shows yet another sign that they’re ripping off Joker (“Nervous?” Are you fucking kidding me?). Sting sets up a future match with Hogan, which the crowd barely gets behind. Then RIC FLAIR comes out and sets up a match between he and Sting FIRST. Anyone claiming this segment and these feuds work because of nostalgia is full of shit. Seriously. The crowd barely reacted most of the time and clearly didn’t care… they gave sympathy applause when they were expected to somehow freak out over the possibilities of old men feuding. This whole segment, which fell incredibly flat, clearly showed what’s wrong with TNA right now. None of these three names should be on television FEUDING over anything. Deep down people only pretend to care, if even that. They even put fake cheers at the end (like they use fake boos), because you could see most of the crowd just sitting there staring after the segment and the camera panned around. Nice!

By Jack-Hammer’s rating system I give this opening segment a chopped off thumb thrown in the garbage.

Beer Money and LAX had a good enough match and it was best to have Beer Money lose the tag titles to LAX. Not that it really helps the somewhat non-existant tag team division if they push Beer Money into more prominent singles roles, but LAX can at least go on to defend and feud against the British Invasion, or some other face teams later on if TNA brings any in. Beer Money are tied up in the World title tournament so its best to get the tag titles off them so they’re not pushed to the background and forgotten.

On a side note - I still think Chavo Guerrero should join TNA and join LAX as its new leader, making it a better stable (certainly better then it is right now). Hernandez doesn’t work as the leader, especially since he can’t talk on the mic, while Chavo has the entire package and would work great as the leader of the stable. And I’m all for seeing Chavo be given the ball and able to run with it, which is something WWE never allowed for.

Second side note - Karen Jarrett/Angle looks like a nasty (as in ugly) looking ****e. Way to pick them Jeff!

There were some good matches, some forgettable segments (Eric Young!), and there was a promo between Kurt Angle and Crimson that showed exactly Crimson’s clear weaknesses and why he’s just not a main eventer and shouldn’t be in TNA for a LONG time. He’s just bad on the mic. Kurt Angle’s heel turn and the reasoning he’s against all the young guys also makes no sense. The only thing TNA seems to be doing right (in my personal opinion) is with the X Division right now. So good job there, TNA! Sadly, the rest of the product is still not any good.

When did Joker ever say, "nervous?" Not arguing, just asking.

Also, I actually didn't mind the "reinactment" of the beatdown because it reminded me of "The Crow" when Draven relives his murder in the loft right after coming back to life. Considering Sting's connection with that movie, it made a little sense. Not like it went on very long, either.

I didn't say the Joker ever said "Nervous?". I pointed out that "Nervous?" is a version of "Why so serious?", a catchphrase with a question in the exact same manner that the Joker did in the movie.. proof that TNA has no originality and is blatantly just making Sting be a copy of the Joker character. It's really getting old now.

And thanks for pointing out that they ALSO ripped off and did their own version of something from the OTHER character that Sting ripped off. Two for one special lastnight!

I honestly don't mind the movie ripoff, I think he's more entertaining this way than what he was doing before. I didn't mind the flopping. Again, it's better than what else he could be doing I guess.

I think TNA should do kind of like a "next level" version of NXT. Not an entire show, just the concept of "pro and rookie" only here you'd have "legend and pro". You wouldn't call it that or market it as that, but every legend would have a "horse" that he backs. Also, none of those horses would be Crimson or Gunner.

This discussion is pointless. You talking about Sting, who took his crow gimmick from a movie called Crow, which main star (brandon Lee) died tragically. So way are people suddenly furious about sting taking a gimmick of joker from an actor (keith ledger) that also died tragically?

If Robert Downey Jr dies, then probably you will see Sting in a iron man gimmick.

Here are my thoughts on the 8-18-11 edition of Impact Wrestling.

Well at least Impact didn't start with an Immortal promo so that's good.

I'm not the biggest fan of Sting acting like the Joker but I do think people are overreacting too much about it. I'm not really looking forward to another Sting vs Ric Flair match but it could be decent. I just wonder if they will actually save it for No Surrender and not give it away on an episode of Impact.

Scott Steiner defeated Devon in a BFG series match that was so quick if you blinked you missed it.

I wasn't too impressed with the X Division gauntlet match and I don't understand why Alex Shelley was eliminated first. I also thought Cookie and Robbie E broke up last week yet their back together this week. Anyway Austin Aries won and gets a shot a the X Division title.

Traci trying to get her old job back as Knockout Law could be interesting. Though she was quick to sellout to the Main Event Mafia back in 2009 and gave up that position. So I don't know if she would be the person you want to be in charge of the Knockouts.

Mickie James pinned ODB in a good KO match. Though I don't get why ODB and Jacqueline are allowed to walk around freely if they supposely don't work there anymore let alone have matches. Especially after all the trouble they have caused.

The Angelina Love / Winter segment was weird as usual.

Velvet Sky hasn't appeared for weeks and no mention of her whereabouts which I find odd.

AJ Styles beat Rob Van Dam by DQ in another BFG series match after Jerry Lynn interfered. I think this is silly if Jerry Lynn wants another rematch with RVD he should just ask him instead of coasting him matches?

Eric Young should be stripped of the TV title. He won it on May 26th and hasn't defended it once.

Anarquia & Hernandez defeated Beer Money to win the tag team titles. As I said in another thread Beer Money had the titles for a while so it was time for them to lose them. I'm just shocked it didn't happen at Hardcore Justice.

Not the best episode of Impact but I've seen worse.

I liked Rosita and Sarita attacking Angelina Love though that mask still looks real weird to me it should be interesting to see where this pans out, I hope Winter stays Knockout champ for a while though

Liked Joe attacking Crimson lets be honest Crimson winning the Bound for Glory Series and staying undefeated and facing Angle for the title is really kind of boring I hope Crimson is out and Joe I was ready to give up on this guy though he looked great both in the ring and out, Samoa Joe definitely a great asset for this company as well is Crimson

Also liked Mr. Andersen back this army hummer thing really worked for him the fortune vs immortal match was good though didn't really get or like Abyss standing on the top just watching why didn't he help his Immortal mates I feel Abyss and Andersen are going to become one interesting tag team after Andersen defeats Bully Ray at No Surrender and I think Abyss and Andersen could become very interesting and exciting tag champs as well I would love this team

AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels- like the storyline and the matches not too much to say here, other then I really hope Daniels wins this one and I think he will how about a ladder match or a cage match or something

Also Robbie E and Rob Terry teaming up love the team both are under used wrestlers and lets be honest if it wasn't for the girls I don't think I would like Mexican America as much and I feel they could use this whole stable better

the Opening Segment I know Angle is champ though am I the only one who kind of wanted him and Jarret to go at it again with Karen trying to pull Kurt off

I really kind of hope that TNA doesn't hire any more wwe rejects this company and show is getting better and better every week this company is going in the right direction I don't feel it's almost 2nd rate anymore although I really would like to see them sigh Melina I'm gonna miss her

I'm just going to do the main event of Impact for now since I was told that for the first time in years Kurt Angle actually attempts to tell a story and Crimson for the first time ever tells one.

Angle vs Crimson: They do the "big match" thing with Borash that I like. Crimson showing he's stronger than Angle early on is good. Crimson leans into Angle a lot and stands aggressively to show his size, good. Angle's speed can't beat Crimson. Angle's vet savy of leaving the ring doesn't beat Crimson. Angle going after the hurt leg does hurt Crimson. So good job there at showing that if he wasn't weakened, Angle wouldn't have gotten the advantage. Well, Angle doesn't work the leg, we're told he did during the commercial. Suplex, then a hold on the arms, then Angle does his "I'm a Gold medalist so I have a strong grip and you can't get out of a headlock" spot. Once Crimson gets the advantage back he doesn't bother selling his injured leg. Instead he hits 2 moves that involve lifting and and exploding with the legs. Not even a fuckin limp. Angle gets the advantage back with a suplex that Crimson no sells and then runs and explodes on Angle with a spear. Angle goes back to the knee, kicking it a few times, then slaps on the ankle lock. Crimson gets out, then sells the leg by kind of wincing and holding it, then hits ANOTHER fucking move that requires him to explode up with the legs. Joe comes out DQ.

So yea, not really a coherant story here. You have bits and pieces. Crimson didn't sell the leg worth a fuck. If your leg is injured, do these lifting moves on one leg. At least on the Sky High at the end, it'd be really easy to do. Instead Crimson basically moved around normal except for the few seconds after Angle hits the leg and Angle really only tried telling a story early on in the match and only went to the leg when it was time for a transition. Everything else was the usual Angle suplexes. This is kind of the same problem a lot of indy guys have. Guys will do some chain wrestling, try to tell a story "he can't handle his strikes but he can't hang with him on the mat etc" and then sell the arm or whatever for a few seconds, but then forget about it when it's time to do shit and go to the finishing stretch and their signature spots. Selling is not a passive activity.

After the match Samoa Joe carried his character more believably than Angle or Crimson, so there's that.

Here's the rest of the show.

Opening Segment:
Pros: Crimson walks kinda gingerly on his knee. So that's good. I like that Jarrett keeps his distance.

Cons: "complete jackass" followed by canned 'BOOOOOOO' video game music for immortal? Even though Jarrett keeps his distance...how can Angle stand being in the ring next to him? As a character I mean, I don't care about 'real life' but as a character, how is that? I guess it's just pro wrestling.

Overall: Not bad. Crimson is kinda generic with his intensity. Crinks his nose, scowls, but you don't feel it. Looks like he's acting and not acting like someone angry that someone else tried to break his leg. Angle seemed like he was going through the motions.

What the fuck is Velvet wearing? Lucky for the camera man, team tits let him watch, wouldn't have wanted to miss this segment...

Uk and Ireland people love Impact, imagine that. I'm pretty sure most of the TNA fans on here are UK and Ireland posters.

I guess this week Bischoff leaves his blindes open and luckily the glass is thin so the camera can pick up on what they're saying. Flair's slurred speach is hilarious and makes this even more of a "crazy old man" segment.

Match 1 Team tits/rope humper vs 2 mexicans and a lizard
Pros: ODB carries her character at all times, I like it. Glad they kept the lizard out of the match. She probably would have passed out due to a lack of nutrients in her body.

Cons: Velvet fuckin sucks. She does all this stuff, but it looks like shit. She blows a dropkick so bad that the other girl doesn't even sell it (a good thing she didn't sell it). Instead of doing a bunch of moves shitty, why not do a few moves well? A lot of bumbling around and Velvet Sky basically sells by trying to catch her breath. Velvet takes a fuck ugly bump where she basically lands on her ass when the lizard throws her head back, did she not even fucking learn how to take a back bump? Then the Lizard hits the ugliest looking whatever "perfectly" according to Tenay. Where was Hebner the rest of this time? What the fuck?

Overall: What a clusterfuck. You let your 2 worst workers do the climax and your worst worker be the face in peril. Goddamnit.

Match 2 Kid Kash vs Sorrenson
Pros: Happy this is 1 on 1. You have a (very) somewhat known guy vs a new guy, so people can digest the new guy. Too bad this didn't happen before the clusterfuck last week where nobody knew who anyone was. I like the heel/vet roughery Kash does. Sorrenson sells his back that had been worked on when he does a back body drop (a move that involves exploding up with the back). Good job. Real nice firey comeback sequence for Sorrenson. Sorrenson sells despiration on his near falls. I'm liking this guy. He looks green at times but he has the basic psychology down.

Cons: Yes, beat up someone, then hit a strong backbreaker, then instead of going for a pin, pick him up to do a another high impact slam. Why don't you just say "I'm more concerned with spots than making it look like I want to win"? Or maybe "I don't care how much I devalue my own moves by not going for pins after them"?

Overall: Sorrenson looks like he has a lot of potential as a babyface. He sells well enough and sells the different changes in the match. Kid Kash sucks. Sorrenson did the little things more than Kash. Kash kinda looks like someone who got over on highspots back in the day but his highspots aren't cool anymore.....o wait.

Kash cuts a really fun little promo. Sounded like an angry old drunken abusive father.

Match 3 RVD vs Pope
Pros: Kinda cool that Pope uses his knees to counter the moonsault and the rolling thunder, fits since he uses his knees a lot and since RVD just kinda randomly does a bunch of his signature stuff and never breaks this regardless of who he's against. Pope sells the leg better after one submission hold from RVD than Crimson sells a fucking leg injury. Pope sells his knee after a flying fist drop. Pretty cool finish really.

Cons: Time to hear Matt Morgan say really bland generic sporty things. Because that's really what real fans of real pro wrestling really want to really see. lol they do the same "can't break the headlock" stuff Angle does later. Good job guys, way to keep the show diversified. O well, not like it's going to go anywhere, just a time killer until RVD hits his sig shit. I like how RVD doesn't sell anything, not even exhaustion once he gets back on offense. Someone should tell him that you don't only sell when you're getting beat up. I like the surfboard as a move in this match, but not how he does it. He kind of hops on and does it. Watch Daniel Bryan do it. He struggles to get the arms, struggles to get him up. By "struggles" of course I mean a worked struggle. Which makes the match look more realistic and not as much like a video game, which is what RVD matches look like.

Overall: A really good match actually. This is what I mean when I say "spots are cool but you have to have selling and story." Without the story of this match, Pope using his legs early on to get the advantage and then hurting his leg, selling the fuck out of his leg, and hurting his own leg even more taking a big risk, this match doesn't mean as much.

Samoa Broski is awesome.

Speaking of Bro, I like Robbie. Characters that are parodies of the "modern douche" are always fun.

Steiner is fuckin awesome.

The Mexicans beat up the lizard and then the crazy masculine jaw line comes in and does a pretty cool beatdown of them, using the shades, then the male Mexicans come in and...I'm pretty sure they took that segment from a porn. Blonde girl with tons of plastic surgery on a couch, then 2 more somewhat less attractive but less surgeried women come in, then a crazy bitch comes in and starts using foreign objects, then 2 dudes come in and spoil the fun.

Hogan and Flair walk around after having their pupils dialated. At least, that's my explanation, why the fuck else would 2 old guys wear shades in a dark hallway? Light sensitivity.

Bischoff and Tits 3 is a fun little segment. This time Bischoff generously leaves his door cracked.

lol is Hogan's screen really "H squared"? WTF? I guess being in Florida means you learn all the lingo from tourists, so basically you're 10 years behind. Either that or he took a math class over the summer.

Hogan Segment
Pros: I like Hogan's line straight haircut. Glad he gets fresh haircuts before he comes out. Sting's makeup is getting messier and messier, makes sense as he's getting crazier and crazier. "You don't have any fries left in your happy meal"? lol it's "a few fries short of a happy meal" but whatever, I appreciate the effort and the senile old man ramblings entertain me. Hogan does little finger twirls when he says "the madness" Randy Savage tribute I guess in his own little way. Sting does a great gay impression, then kisses Hogan, then Flair, being the homophobic old man from Carolina (originally Minnesota) he is flips a shit. They bleeped out a word so I can only guess that Flair said "I was crazy when you were sucking your mother's clit" I mean, I can only assume crazy ass Flair would say that, they bleeped it out so we can never be sure. Crazy Flair says "fuckin ass" after Hogan says it's a family show. Callback Sting line "point that finger at me again and I'm gonna bite it off" from their 1995 feud before World War 3.

Cons: I hope this is billed as midcard comedy, it's not though :(

Overall: This segment entertained me. Really, 3 crazy old fucks saying and doing random crazy shit. I love it. I just wish it weren't promoted as a big deal and rather "lol wtf look at these guys we found at the nursing home".

AJ/Daniels Segment
Pros: So, I'm really split on Daniels here. Either he's a shit actor and came across as too whiny, or he's about to turn and it was good acting to be whiny and make people dislike him. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

Cons:

Overall: Looks like they're planting the seeds. I like it so far.

Match 4 6 man falls count anywhere
Pros: I love how fun and chaotic this was and how the heels had a plan and dissected the faces.

Cons: I'm guessing Abyss is there to make sure everything goes as planned but given that he's been put down by the rest of immortal I'm guessing he turns into a monster babyface again. Which would be boring and I'm not giving them the benefit of the doubt because Abyss is an attitude era mark and is incredibly predictable and boring.

Overall: Not a whole lot to say here. It was fun, chaotic, and made sense. Good job.

Post match they go to beat up Styles with some wood. Decent stuff with Anderson. Kind of gratiuitous blood again but what are you gonna do?

Mickie James with a ton of confidence and conviction in her promo. I love that she looked at the camera. You and do voice tones and facial expressions but looking at the camera, looking into the eyes of your audience, and with confidence cutting a promo gets over the feeling of intensity better than any of it.

EY is fun.

Main event: look at my previous post.

Overall this wasn't a bad show, it wasn't decent, it was a good show. I was entertained by a lot of stuff. The main event showed Angle's flaw as a wrestler in 2011 and why Crimson isn't main event ready but it wasn't a terrible match.

I just got done watching iMPACT Wrestling and at the end Mr. Anderson came out and help out Sting, Honestly does TNA know what the hell there doing anymore every week like I put in someone else's post about Vince Russo or something about TNA someone who was heel this week will turn face the next and then a month later will be a heel again can't they make someone heel for AT LEAST a year its getting to the point where you can tell who is going to turn heel or face like tonight The Fallen Angel possible heel turn I called it after he won the match Your thoughts.
