[OFFICIAL] Sheamus Wins The 2012 Royal Rumble Discussion

Hey everyone, I am a frequent visiter of wrestlezone and a wrestling fan since early 90's. This is my first post and I just felt I needed to put my two cents in lol. I see some of you are disappointed with a young blood winning the rumble instead of a main eventer. Unfortunatly, wrestling isn't what it used to be. We dont have many main eventers anymore. And what some people forget is when guys like HBK and Austin won their first royal rumble they were not considered main eventers yet. Winning the rumble helped build their legacy. Its time WWE created new main eventers. Sheamus winning was an excellient decision. When I look at guys like HBK, Austin, Taker, Bret Hart, HHH, the Rock, or even older guys like Flair, Hogan, Warrior, and Savage; the current wrestlers in WWE just dont compare. WWE had go with a guy like Sheamus cause if they dont start building young superstars, more and more people will continue to get board with WWE and stop watching all together. Its time WWE does whatever it takes to elevate Sheamus, Cody, Ziggler, Bryan, Barrett, and the Miz into main event names. Oh and just because we still dont know what Jerchio's motive is it doesnt mean we wont get it. They still have time to build WM.

Wow I'm glad I didnt watch this at home, everyone says the rumble was horrible but I was actually there and it was AWESOME, the crowd was great and it made the pay per view great to be there. When road dogg came out people were flipping out, when santino came out people were flipping out (surprisingly) when hacksaw came out people were flipping out, I didnt read any spoilers so I was in there completely blind. Ricardo coming out instead of Del Rio made me happy because I was in there bitching about him being there lol but I guess the crowd tried to make the best of the rumble as we could since appareantly it wasn't that good lol. But Sheamus winning the rumble I was like ok... I really wanted jericho to win, just becuase I like him and I wanted to see the continuation of the end of the world as you know it storyline, but sheamus is ok too. I mean it makes sense and I hope Bryan keeps the title so he could go against sheamus at mania so sheamus can take yet another title from Bryan (The U.S. title being the first title) but I wanna see how jericho reacts to losing. Anticipating Raw. Oh and Hall 3:16 some of the crowd was estatic (like the guys behind me) but most of the crowd was this disappointed :suspic:

I won't lie, I was pissed when Sheamus Brouge kicked Jericho out of the ring to win the 2012 Royal Rumble. I told myself that Orton was winning it and Jericho would go on to face Taker at mania. But then people began to get knocked off and all of a sudden it's down to two, I think to myself there's no way Jericho loses now that Randy is out, I was mistaken again. But after the disappointment sunk in I realized I was cool with it and it was a good thing for everyone. Before the Jericho and Orton buzz I said Sheamus or Barrett would win the rumble, they even talked about how it would be a rumble that focused on the younger talent and I should have known it was a sign. Sheamus is a guy who is very much deserving of the win, since his face turn he's become a bigger star and fan favorite than I ever expected but I love it. He had a great showing in the match, good ending with Jericho and now he's going to Wrestlemania baby!

Sheamus didn't deserve to win the royal rumble and for one reason: he had no build up prior to the rumble match. He has been floating around as of late and has done nothing but squash Jinder several times within the past month or so. I honestly have been looking at Sheamus as nothing more than a mid-carder since he hasn't done anything relevant for awhile.

Sheamus is about as good as the Miz when it comes to wrestling and that's not a compliment. He's stale, boring to watch and has little to no charisma. His chest slaps, clotheslines and power moves gets extremely boring after awhile. I swear the only reason he's getting his big push is because he's workout buddies with HHH and was complimented by HBK before he left the WWE. I'm not exactly sure what people see in Sheamus but to me the guy is bland.

As for Jericho not winning the rumble, this doesn't mean he's not going to get pushed but he would have been the logical choice and should have won the rumble match. Man, I think Barrett had more build-up within recent weeks than Sheamus. The whole Barrett Barrage thing and taking out Orton sounds alot better than squashing a jobber named Jinder for the past month. Anyways, this rumble winner was a real letdown.

When you call out names like dumb, dumbass or whatever you are just humiliating yourself by not being able to argue properly. Instead of trying to prove your point, which you seem to struggle, you are just calling out names thinking you are arguing. That's one!

The creative has a history of changing the attention of a storyline so that guys like you forget what the initial storyline was. What was the name of the secret Raw GM again? Or why did Nexus invade Raw in the first place? That's not building up attention, that's not being able to end a storyline properly. That's two.

Not everything is bad, there are lots of great storylines that we follow, but if you always try to say WWE's shit doesn't smell, or wait maybe it will smell nice one day, I would say maybe it won't. So for today, it doesnt...

Whatever man...the anonymous GM served it's purpose. Why did we have to find out who it was? He made matches, period. It worked. Storylines don't matter at all if the matches are crap, so it should be about wrestling first. The wrestling in WWE has been pretty good recently. Shock value and surprises should be used sparingly so they mean more when those event do occur. I just hate that you people sit here and complain "Jerichos return is ruined blah blah blah." We don't know whats in store for us yet and we really don't know what Jericho's intentions are, and that's just fine. It's not like they dropped his storyline, he's barely even spoken yet so I'm sure he'll reveal his plans soon enough. Let's let the story play out before we bitch and complain shall we?

This was a disappointing rumble match this year no really exciting legend returns and Jerry the King makes 5 returns a year so that really pissed me off. What i was most upset about though was big show entering at number 30 at least bring Jericho out at 30 don't let everyone down by bringing out the Big Show. Also everyone must have noticed how impressive C.Rhodes was eliminating 5 legends he may be the new legend killer and personally i really don't think Sheamus is ready for a title match at WM28 maybe next year he would've been better suited for it.

I kind of see both sides of the argument. Sheamus really had no build leading up to the rumble. All he has been doing is squashing glorified jobbers for a couple of months. I think that hurts him.

But at the same time he could really use the rumble win. He has gotten over as a babyface. Orton and Jericho dont really need a rumble win. I still think they turn the smackdown main event at mania into a fatal fourway with Orton, Barrett, Daniel Bryan and Sheamus. I would be shocked if Daniel Bryan vs Sheamus is the world title match at WM.

Get used to this. Sheamus can't cut a promo beyond token Irish stuff and has basically been pushed because he has a unique look and is friends with Triple H. He's going to be forced on the audience for years and people will be complaining about him eventually for the same reasons they complain about Cena now. Enjoy.

I don't have a problem with Sheamus, but Good god. Let Jericho win it before he retires. It's the ONLY thing he is lacking to complete.

Im sorry but for anyone saying Sheamus doesn't deserve it or he had no build going into it,WHAT? Since about the Summer of last year he has been Pushed to the Moon. Everybody complains that WWE hasn't made any New Stars but when a New guy wins the Royal Rumble people still complain. Give me freaking break already.

I'm not sure why people thought this was a surprise? Everyone was saying Sheamus was going to win the Rumble before Jericho showed up. I for one am not happy Sheamus won. I really don't understand why he is thought of as a good wrestler because I really don't see it in him. I reckon his mic skills are alright but still painful to hear. It was refreshing that he won but I still would of rather Jericho won.

I don't think Bryan and Sheamus will have much chemistry in the ring. They will put up a good match but not a main event WM match! Then again I guess I am kind of happy seeing as it wont involve Randy Orton which would have had little to no build if he went on to face Bryan at WrestleMania and Jericho can still face Punk. Apart from that the Rumble was good.

I'm kind of glad Sheamus won. If Bryan manages to hold on until Mania, what a great story. The two guys bumped off last year are in a top tier match the year later, brilliant storytelling.

Ugh, too smart for WWE writers...

Can I ask why everyone wanted Chris Jericho win? Don't get me wrong I like Jericho and he was one of my Picks to win but just why?

I dont know if i am in the majority but i actually enjoyed the rumble and sheamus winning wow creative gets an A in my book for that decision!! No one saw that coming at all it was either Jericho or Orton and alot of people picked Wade!! I picked Orton to win it but sheamus winning it all wow that guy deserves it!! Jericho didnt need the win hes accomplished more than enough in his career orton nope hes done it all!! But Sheamus what a shocker and im happy for the great white good job sheamus and even better job creative!! Sheamus V D bryan at WM should be a great WM main event and i pick Sheamus to be the new WHC!!! Sheamus is a stud busts his ass and is worthy of the main event spot!!

well although I dont really agree with it and wanted it to be Jericho, it does show that wwe does do things that arent always predictable and tries to suprise us and sometimes lets the underdog win the rumble, not that Sheamus was an underdog but I dont think people saw him winning it

I really hope they don't waste the Rumble victory Sheamus got with a match at mania with Daniel Bryan. I really don't think anybody wants to see it. If you do then wow......that's all I can say is WOW. Can you all explain to me why you like Daniel Bryan anyways? Is it because he is an underdog? It is not even remotely close to believable that Bryan could beat Sheamus. They have billed him to have no chance against Henry and Big Show....and the matches prove it, because they can't have him win cleanly against either of them. It's impossible. Sheamus would crush him easily.

I am really happy Sheamus won as I didnt want Jericho to win. I honestly thought it would be Orton since it was in his hometown. After both King and Booker were in anybody should have realized Cole was coming next.

Did anyone notice the intervals were not 90 second intervals. They seemed to be when ever wwe felt like it intervals. Some were 90 seconds, some were more some were less. After 1st 10 superstars I noticed the times in between entrants were sporadic. So I timed and intervals were anywhere between 1 min 10 seconds and over 2 min. Actually one was only over 2 min and that was Ricardos long entrance. Anyways the time intervals were when ever wwe felt like it tonight seriously watch a replay and time them.

Now everyone is assuming sheamus is going to challenge daniel bryan at wrestlemania, but imagine if he decides to face CM Punk instead. This would be the more enjoyable of the 2 different matches. No one expects it and thats why i'm going to be the first one to say it will. I'm not 100% happy to see Sheamus win it either. He reminds me too much of Razor Ramon except he's not as cool as the bad guy.

Don't know why everyone's calling it a surprised. It was pretty obvious that either he or Orton were going to win it after the report that the winner was going to be from smackdown a number of months ago.

Calling it now, Sheamus to beat a full blown heel Daniel Bryan at 'Mania.

look at what we have here....bunch of ppl complaining about the result of the Rumble...

first off this puts sheamus in the WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP PICTURE which means cm punk is free.
I love the fact Sheamus won....it was unpredictable...i myself did not see it coming..which is very hard to do now a days with the internet.
With Sheamus in the World heavyweight picture it leaves CM punk(or who ever its going to be after EC) open to face Jericho like everyone wanted all along.
Truth be told i have not watch an entire raw in weeks instead getting updates on this site. This week im going to enjoy watching raw to see how this all falls in place.

Good ppv. Great Results.

I really dont want to see Sheamus and Bryan. I would like to see Sheamus vs Punk and Jericho vs Taker. That would be a better card in my mind

uhh.......this does not automatically put Sheamus in the World Heavyweight Championship picture. What if Sheamus decides to challenge CM Punk. He gets to choose who he fights.

Sheamus' pop was pretty big when he entered the rumble and it's a great way for him to face bryan for the WHC. The guy has been on fire and it gives SmackDown a nice title match for Mania.

I wanted to see them wrestle because nobody else on smackdown could have a really good mania match with him. But Sheamus doesnt have to wrestle a smackdown guy like somebody said, but he's probably gonna wind up facing a smackdown guy
