[OFFICIAL] NXT Aftermath, Review, and Ratings Thread

The series premiere edition of WWE NXT did a 1.4 cable rating on SyFy last night with 1,704,000 viewers./QUOTE]

Now considering ECW last week did a 1.14 and Impact did a 1.23 that to me would mean that the NXT debut was a success, beating both of these. Now it's early days as it was a debut show, but if it stays the same in a few weeks time then this show can be touted as a success.

Tonight's show was pretty good. I wasn't as impressed with any of the Rookies featured tonight as I wa with Daniel Bryan last week, but it was still a good show.

The Otunga match was pretty good and even though he lost, he still shined pretty brightly due to his backstage brawl with R-Truth. He and Truth looked like they looked like a brawl actually would look like in real life. Just an entertaining spot I thought.

I figured Bryan would come out with a win this week but he came up short. It looks as though he's going to be cast as the injured underdog of the show. I suppose the idea is to show the fans that wrestlers really do have to work hurt at times and it did give something of a realistic view. He didn't really get much offense in the match, which that was the plan overall I'd say. Bryan sold his ribs/back well and, even though he didn't win, it did show his heart. Wade Barrett is big but I'm not overly impressed by the guy. He's decent on the stick, if you can understand a word he says, but he's completely average in the ring. The injury angle could be a great story for Bryan, but I'm worried about the botched springboard. Was it intentional or was it a legitimate screw up? If it's the latter, then Bryan's stock may have just gone down.

Skip Sheffield kind of impressed me tonight. He has a killer look about him, looks like he can bench press a bulldozer and kind of reminds me of a roided up Dusty Rhodes. He's got the whole country boy thing going on, put together some snappy catchphrases and held his own for a while. He does have something of a blue collar vibe that has always worked pretty well overall.

Overall, a pretty good show. I like the fact that the Rookies carried the bulk of the show tonight. As of right now, based on what's been shown overall, I'm still more impressed with Daniel Bryan over any of the others.

Not a bad show at all. It wasn't quite as good as last week, but I think half of the appeal of last week was that it was the debut show. I was once again impressed with Otunga, and absolutely loved the brawl between him and Truth.

Bryan also impressed me with the way he sold the ribs. He never forgot that he was injured, and I like that. The psychology in the match was very. very good.

Wade Barrett's promo and character was intriguing. He seems to be a guy only in it to make some money, and is the kind of guy who likes the finer things in life. He was very good in the video package, and his moves were very painful-looking.

I'm not impressed with Darren Young at all. He's probably the only rookie I don't like, though his interactions with Punk are hilarious. Credit to both him and Punk for that.

Gabriel has a great finisher, very flashy. I didn't watch the match very closely as I was talking to a friend, but I did see that. I also like Skip Sheffield, from his persona down to the fact that he's better than the average Big Man wrestler. Very nice.

Solid matches and promos give this show a B from me.

I like the concept of the show that we have been seeing the past 2 weeks, but what is the point of it in the end? Is it going to be like an American Idol vote off where the wrestlers or the fans decide who gets a contract to WWE? We do know that Danielson has a contract already so I guess that would be the obvious winner.

What happens to the guys that don't get a contract? They go back to FCW? I thought the pros would judge or vote for who they thought had the biggest impact at the end of the show, I guess they are saving that for another time.

I can't complain about the matches since the guys are green, and we got more match time this week. I just don't know what Darren Young is supposed to be? is he a party guy from Africa, Jamaica? is he Jimmy Snuka? What is he. Micheal Cole got his twitter geeks heat reference out there. Do any IWC members actually use twitter?

I don't think they use it for wrestling news of all things. Otunga has the look and personality to be a big star. His character is everything that MVP isn't. Jericho's rookie Wade Barrett has the look and mic skills to be a star, he is kinda like a monster version of Regal. Christian's rookie Heath Slater is just a joke. He has drive and charisma but he is coming across too goofy on television. The fans aren't buying into him at all.

I didn't know what the hell Matt Hardy's rookie DJ Gabriel was wearing, but he was impressive in the ring. He has the money shot finisher with the 450 splash. We have to wait and see if that is not all he's got. Hopefully Gabriel wont' turn into another Bourne.
Skip Sheffield has the physique that Vince drools all over, along with some decent mic skills.

You would think he or the WWE would come up with a catch phrase better than Cornfed Meathead or as I call it Inbred Muscle Head. I can make up words that rhyme too. This may be Skip's persona in real life, but if it isn't, Vince just needs to stop making every southern wrestler into an ignorant hillbilly or redneck. See Festus, Jesse, Jamie Noble, etc. That's why AJ Styles would never go to WWE because he wouldn't be known as The Phenomenal One, but the Banjo drumming one.

Just call Skp Jethro or Deliverance and get it over with. He has charisma, I don't think he will pass a drug test anytime soon though. I just think he needs to repackage his character, because no one cheers for cowboys anymore.

Overall next is a pretty innovative show, I just hope the purpose of the show becomes clearer down the line as to who gets a contract and what he needs to do to get it.

A step down in quality from last week's show, but it was still an enjoyable hour of pro wrestling; perhaps the best hour we'll get from the sport every week mainstream wise, unfortunately.

Darren Young vs. Otunga was a decent enough match. Much better and longer than their match last week, anyway. I loved the fact that they got Punk to actually help his guy win. After all, a big part of CM Punk's character is competitiveness, so of course he shouldn't want to see his guy fail each week. Also, I thought Young had a nice little finisher. Much better than Otunga's shit spinebuster.

I did not like how they pitted Otunga and R-Truth against each other this quickly. I think they should have built up to it a little more, but minor complaint I guess. A big complaint though is fucking Michael Cole showing his ******ation by not calling out Otunga on his bullshit, while still harping on and on about Danielson's 'disrespect' from last week. How stupid can you be to let your character (which, btw, is still mostly babyface) be so hypocritical? Fucking moron.

But ignoring that piece of shit, I thought Danielson had another good week. Sold the ribs great and I think got some legitimate sympathy from the crowd. His video before the match was awesome, too, by the way. Loved that they mentioned he was trained by Shawn Michaels, and let him be himself. Great stuff. Also, I thought The Miz's promo before Danielson's match was absolutely spectacular. How could anyone not want Danielson to absolutely beat the fuck out of The Miz after that? Brilliant stuff by Miz.

And the main event... meh, nothing special, but not too bad. Though, I must admit that my interest in either coaches or their rookies couldn't be any less. Maybe that will change as the weeks go by though.

Although not quite as good as the premiere episode, it was still a solid performance, and still leaves me wanting more.

I like that goofy red headed guy with Christian. He's got I guess what I'd call "grating charisma". It's the type that's going to get on some people's nerves, but to others it's going to be entertaining. I'm of the latter. He also reminds me of early HHH. When they didn't really know what to do with HHH. I can't quite put my finger on why I think that tho, it's just an inclination. It might be, that they have a similar humor to them. It's just HHH is more laid back.

And I also like the Skip Sheffield guy. His catch phrase makes you do a double take, he's better than average in ring, nice physique, got a lot of charisma and I found him to be the most entertaining of all the rookies so far. Him and Regal, funny guy and straight man, there's a lot you can do with that. Regal makes a great straight man.

Overall, to me, it's still the most entertaining wrestling show on right now. Can't wait until next week.

I'm a big fan of Heath Slater. The guy just cracks me up. Though it could just be his goofy hillbilly accent. I laughed my ass off after Carlito spit the apple at him and he replied with "That's cool?? That's cool?? You're gonna walk away after that's cool?" Hilarious. He is probably my favorite guy on the show, though I don't expect him to win. Overall the show was solid last night, not as good as the original, but still decent. Main event kind of bored me, but that was probably due to Matt Hardy. Sheffield and Bill Regal seem like an entertaining duo however. I love how the Daniel Bryan story continues to pan out and the guy is still the focus of the show. The brawl between Otunga and Truth was solid and showed that tension can easily occur with the rooks and the pros. Punk was pretty entertaining as well with the whole playing with his gum looking bored routine he was doing, only to help Young win it in the end. So that has me intrigued. Looking forward to next week and the coming weeks to see how the relationship between the rookies and pros develop.

Again, I was happy with the show. I saw 2 things happen last night that I've never seen before:
1. A 450 splash taking place in a WWE ring. I'm sure it's happened at some point in the past, but I'm fairly certain I've never seen it. Justin Gabriel was impressive and I expect great things from him.

2. Bryan Danielson actually botched a move. He missed his jump to the top ropes pretty badly, however, Chris Jericho on commentary was his knight in shining armor. Jericho sold the shit out of Danielson and blamed the missed spot on his horrific rib injury.

I have to say that thus far the cast of NXT has exceeded my expectations. Aside from Danielson, I can get behind Slater and Gabriel- I can see big things happening for all of them. Skip Sheffield was adorable. My grandpa has always liked to use the ridiculoud "knuckle sandwich" phrase, so as soon as Sheffield uttered those words, I wanted to hug him.

Another great show this week. Young and Otunga has their return match which was miles better than their first match (mainly because it wasnt a squash). Otunga officially turned heel to match his attitude. Young possibly botches his finisher (I'm not sure what it's supposed to be, maybe he's supposed to do it like that) but wins the match with a seemingly unlikely assist from CM Punk. It was a good match, and hopefully they can have a rubber match which is better still.

Daniel Bryan's intro package sees fit to inform us of his background and reminds us that hes really experienced. Funny, I could have sworn Justin Gabriel debuted two years before you, but oh well. Miz tells Bryan that he's up against Wade Barrett (which made me dance for joy) and gets his ribs taped up for it. Good promo, but that's Miz for you. during the Ad break Otunga and R-Truth have a brawl (Truth thinks Otunga was trying to make a name off him). Otunga is pretty much blaming everybody but himself (apparently foot grabbing counts as 'jumping him' in this day and age).

Jericho returns the favor for Barrett and does his introduction (we also get one of those neat little introduction packages telling us that Barret loves money and that's why he's in the WWE and that He'll dominate you whether you're big or small). Bryan comes out sans Miz (and needs new music). Jericho joins in on commentary, putting over Barrett, Bryan and his injury. Barrett spends most of the match on top and working over Bryan's midsection. Jericho says that my working injured, Bryan's walking the fine line between bravery and stupidity. Carlito and Miz are watching the match (which is relavent because we're reminded that the Pros have to evaluate the talent), which is still in Barrett's favour. Bryan sends Barrett to the outside and does a running jump, and smashing Barrett in the sternum with a big knee. Barrett gets sent into the ring and Bryan goes for a springboard but stumbles and falls (Jericho attributes this to his bad ribs). Barrett hoists Bryan to his shoulders and hits his finisher (which I'm not sure how to describe) for the three count. And adding painful insult to injury, Jericho comes in kicks his injured ribs a few times and slaps on the Liontamer before raising Barrett's hand and going to the back.

Earlier Christian and Slater went to the gym, Christian told Slater that there's a difference between confidence and overconfidence and to deflate his ego. Striker Interviews Gabriel who uses various synonyms for teacher to describe his relationship with Matt Hardy. Hardy thinks that Gabriel is similar to him (How exactly? He's not shit and overshadowed by a drug taking brother) and informs him that he passed the test and that it's time for the main event.

William Regal's theme is awesome. Doesn't fit Skip at all though (same for Danielson and Miz's theme). Regal is evidently not pleased with his pairing, his face is simply priceless after looking at the Cornfed Meathead (Skippy's intro package informs us that he's 'one crazy meathead', that he goes full throttle and is an entertainer not a pure wrestler). Cole informs us that Bill thinks Skip has 'the personality of an open grave... and his work rate is not much better than his personality'. Gabriel has a cool popoff shirt. Matt is fat. Skip and Gabriel start it off and Skip uses his power to bully Gabriel around the ring. Gaberiel takes control with a dropkick and an armbar (what sort of a criuserweight knows how to apply an armbar. Gabriel tags to Hardy and they deliver three double team moves in quick succession (including poetry in motion). and we head to a break. in this time Skip's tagged out and Regal is bullying Gabriel if I'm honest. Stiff strikes and suplexes galore. amusingly Gabriel elbows Regal in the head, prompting a retaliatory blow, which knocks the rookie off his feet. Regal contunues beating the shit out of Gabriel before desiding to give Skip a lecture about how Skip shoud be doing that in the ring, not taking the piss with dance moves and stupid catchphrases. In the mean time, Hardy's tagged in. But any ideas he may have had of a hot tag are wiped out by more brutality from Regal (Dont piss him off. He'd kill you). Skip and Regal stop to have a shouting match (To which Regal shouts at the comentators 'Skip Sheffield's a bloody moron'). Regal tags out to Skip. Who isn't taking Matt too seriously. a couple of quick tags on the dominant team's side. Skip gets countered into a neckbreaker. Regal shouts for him to 'get up'. Regal in (yay more shitkicking) Sheffield gets shouted at to 'stop doing stupid stuff' Regal shoves Hardy to Skip's corner to shout 'don't you mess around doing stupid, stupid things. You pillock' at his protege. God knows how Hardy's keeping a straight face. It must be the pain. Matt finally gets a move in and hits a twist of fate before tagging out so Gabe can deliver a 450 splash for the win. Great match only made better by Regal's shouting. MOTN by a mile.

Remix's Rookie Rankings
  1. Wade Barrett: beating the man who had a closely fought match against the world champion
  2. Justin Gabriel: finishing the MOTN. He wasnt dominant but the superior match just edges him into second place
  3. Darren Young: Avenging his loss last week in a good match
  4. Otunga: he 'only' lost because of Punk (if you ask him, anyway) but ended up looking the best of the losers
  5. Daniel Bryan: he had a good match with Barrett which he may have won if not for his ribs. While he got pinned, he lost nothing from it.
  6. Skip Sheffield: He didn't get pinned but he was instead made Regal's bitch. Unfortunately Regal's epic shouting did rather undermine any badassery he lay have had hidden benieth the comedian
  7. Heath Slater: appearing in a promo trumps getting nothing. Even if he did get an apple spat at him
  8. Michael Tarver: He didn't appear at all forcing me to rank him last.

2. Bryan Danielson actually botched a move. He missed his jump to the top ropes pretty badly, however, Chris Jericho on commentary was his knight in shining armor. Jericho sold the shit out of Danielson and blamed the missed spot on his horrific rib injury.

The people I watched with and I were really wondering about that. Are you sure it was a botch? I mean, he clearly missed the rope completely with his left foot so it definitely seems like he fucked up. But at the same time, Bryan Danielson IS a pro, regardless of how WWE wants to portray him as a rook. I can't imagine someone like him just completely missing a springboard. It seems like it was to sell the rib injury and that he's inexperienced, especially since it basically led right into a pin.

How is WWE treating him like a rock? WWE have been putting him over as the Indie king who's trained by HBK and has got a decade of experience benieth his (scaly) wings. However, that doesnt stop him being human and even the best screw up sometimes. Just watch botchamania videos

Honestly, Barrett's reaction (going from arm's spread ready to catch Bryan to going for the quick pin) sold it for me. Bryan fucked up but nobody would ever know about it apart from wrestling geeks like us (as it was covered up within a moment of it happening). This sort of thing happens all the time in theatre. actors mess up frequeltly but the audience wont know that because they dont know what was supposed to happen.

The ratings for last night's show are in and, overall, I think it's pretty good. Last week, there were sites saying that the show did a 1.3 and some say it did a 1.4. I think that the WWE and Syfy have both stated the show did a 1.3 with 1,703,000 viewers.

From what I've read thus far, the show did a 1.24 in the ratings last night, which will be rounded to a 1.2. However, the actual number of viewers rose to 1,730,000. While the household number is a little lower than last weeks, the show actually gained viewers over last week.

Last night's episode hasn't been as strongly received overall, but it's still gotten positive feedback for the most part. It's still an extremely new concept and I'd say all the bugs haven't necessarily been worked out. There wasn't as much emphasis on character development last night as there was the first week and that hurt the episode in the eyes of some even though there was more actual wrestling content. I think that character development is a little more important overall for the show because getting to know what the Rookies are all about is the hook for the show overall for a lot of people.

But, overall, it was a strong second week for the fledgling show and it still outdrew the last episode of iMPACT!.

I realy like this show. It really feels like the rookies are trying to make it in the WWE, they get shit on so bad. But that's what it is in reality. One thing I want to note though is Jericho doing the Liontamer opposed to the Walls of Jericho. There is a difference, he puts his knee into the victims back with the Liontamer. When I saw that it really said to me that Jericho's trying to push this guy, see if he can handle the intensity. A really nice touch.

Strong show tonight. The opening tag match was very exciting and advanced a great story, the Darren Young was kept to a minimum (though I think after seeing that robe and how much he wants to be liked I may have to start liking him, just a little) and all three matches were just fun. They've also placed a seed for Darren Young to join the SES. Loved the little bit of mic time several wrestlers got, and Jericho screaming at the commentators was great. Just a ton of fun, the whole show was.

Overall, I'll give this week's show an A-

So, 3rd week now, and I have to say my interest in the show has faded big time.

This week I really enjoyed the Danielson/Miz vs. R-Truth/Otunga match, but after that... I didn't care about anything else. Now that I've gotten a taste out of all the rookies, Danielson has been the only one to keep my interest, unfortunately. Miz deserves credit too, because he has been awesome lately.

But yeah... basically my thoughts on NXT this week: Great opening tag match, but nothing else meant anything to me. Hopefully next week, to go along with Danielson/Miz, we'll get some more of CM Punk and his rookie, as I think those two have a lot of potential together and would be able to keep my interest in the program once Miz and Danielson are through with their stuff.

I enjoyed last night's show a lot, just a really strong showing. All the matches were fun to watch and some interesting storylines were furthered. The relationship between The Miz and Bryan on the show is great. It progressed nicely last night and the interaction between the two was spot on. The Miz is playing his role perfectly and the crowd was into everything he and Bryan were doing last night.

All the Rookies got a little bit of mic time last night and I enjoyed that. I've found myself somewhat interested in what's going to happen with Darren Young, although I haven't completely warmed up to him yet.

Heath Slater came off looking like a hot young rising star last night. His match with Carlito was very good and he and Christian seem to really mesh well together. Christian seemed quite proud of his Rookie last night and sold it quite well.

Overall, I didn't think much of Justin Gabriel last week but his stock did rise in my eyes this week. He's fun to watch in the ring and he seems to be decent on the mic, but it's still early to tell with that.

Great show last night in my view.

So far the show is really enjoyable. I really like to see all the new talent and their gimmicks.

Is anyone else really interested in the finishers of all the NXT superstars? So far we've seen Justin Gabriel who is really exciting, I love that he does the 450 splash, but Darren Youngs finisher is a joke and I'd really like to see what Bryan Daniel might use as a finisher and I'm really hoping that one of the guys besides danielson has a really impressive original finisher. Its been a while since we've seen an exciting new finisher.

Again, another good show. I'm liking this whole concept.

One thing tho, why does Jericho use the Liontamer version of the Walls just on the rookies? I much prefer this version over the Boston Crab, as it looks so much more painful.

Honestly there wasn't anything too exciting about NXT. The main event was nothing special aside from Regals face at ring side, and Jericho's brilliant comments to Cole.

The opening tag match should have been the main event. Matt and Justin gel so well together, he's almost like a Hardy. The Young/SES interractions are growing on me, and there's a part of me thinks that the reason he's so bad at the moment is because he will join the stable.

Bryan v Khali? Erm what? I forgot how horrible a wrestler Khali was, it says something when the worst guy on a show of essentially FCW rookies is your former World Heavyweight Champion. That's pretty bad if you ask me. How the Bryan segment is facing out I cannot imagine, but to me it seems like he'll be first voted out after maybe winning the US title from Miz.

Erm that was pretty much NXT, aside from some Cole snide comments, 5 Raw rewinds, 98 Mania segments and telling us about voting starting in two weeks.

I think it was KB who said it, if it was someone else I apologise. However the novelty of NXT is wearing off, it was fresh, now it's quite predictable. However the fact that we will see eliminations in two weeks well keep the attention until then and we'll see how it goes from there (Also I am pretty sure Cena was supposed to be on NXT, where was he? Did I miss it?).

It was a good episode this week, but with Otunga getting the night off, as well as R Truth, there was that missing.

The matches we better at the begniing. It was a good tag team match to start thge match. I also was a fan of the Slater match against Tarver. I guess a lot of the feuds are set up, so that makes the show great to watch. Ive seen all the episodes of NXT up to this point, and I think this one was one of the better.

Jericho was great on the show, made up for Miz not being on the show. It was also great to see Big Show come on down. I geuss after this, Bryan wasn't so obviously the main person on the show, so that made the show good.

WWE NXT is good show.I dont know superstars rating but this is at least two times better than superstars. It would be good that Bryan gets contract automaticly as USA champion and that they give one contract to someone big(Otunga(because I think he was the best in his promo work),Barret(he is good in ring and has the look of the star) or Skip Shefield(I dont know why)) and other contract to some high flyer(Justin Gabriel or Heath Slater(allright,he is not high flayer but is something in the middle of both stills)).Darren Young is also good but i just dont see him or Tarver to get the contract

Very good episode this week. Seeing Bryan as number 1 in the Pro Poll was a big surprise to me, as I thought he'd be ranked low, considering the problems he's had with Miz.

The opening promo was really good, and humorous. Looking forward to seeing Otunga and Bryan face off, as those are obviously the two guys WWE are choosing to give a big push to.

The eight man tag match was excellent. The crowd loved it, the action was fast and fun, and the commentary was at a caliber not seen on the other shows. Loved it, so much.

The Battle Royal was good for a battle royal. I expected Otunga to win, as he has a ton of charisma and could bring his wife into the mix.

Overall, I'd give tonight's show an A. It had a blend of good matches, storyline development, promos, and energy.

I was also suprise to see Bryan as number one. Like Michael Cole said he doesn't deserve to be number one because of his win loss record but I'm not going to whine like he did. I'm happy all most all the superstars are doing pretty good for them selves except for Michael Traver. I think he's going to be the first one eliminated. I was happy to see Otunga win the battle royal to me he's one of the top people on NXT next to Barret and Bryan. Over all the show was an A.

The ratings for last night's NXT are in and they're an improvement over last week's. The show pulled a 1.0 Nielsen Rating with 1,302,000 viewers. Last week's show only drew slightly over 1,000,000 viewers so it looked as though finding out more about the overall purpose of the competition did renew some interest in the show.

Last night's show was great. Great matches, intensity between a couple of the Rookies and this is what the show needs to tap into each week to keep it interesting I think. The intensity and personal dislike between some of the Rookies needs to be steadily elevated and kept elevated between now and the next Pro Poll. I do look for the poll standings to change at least some in the next 6 weeks for dramatic purposes, which can be used only to intensify some rivalries. Another thing that needs to happen is that Daniel Bryan actually does need to win at least 1 or 2 matches before the next Pro Poll.

woah nxt done better than impact well it was a very good show last night (my favourite so far) but still very bad for tna
well they'll redeem themseves next week
as for next a good rating
