[Official] Chris Benoit Memorial Thread

I'm glad this is a memorial thread as the other turned into namecalling and judging. I have many memories of seeing Benoit live. The firstcwas WCW Nitro, sometime in July 1998. Hr was in the main event, I can't remember against who. It was a very long, exciting match. When I watched the recoriding, there were 2 or 3 commercial breaks. He won the match.

I saw him again in December 2003. I don't remember who he wrestled, but after the match he got attacked. After the others went backstage, Benoit was alone in the ring. He got a standing ovation.

In September 2005, he was U.S. Champ. He had been beating Orlando Jordan in under 30 sec. for a few weeks. They showed a backstage segment, and Benoit said he could do something else in the same amount of time. The timer starte, he went into the bathroom , went pee, and came back out. It was so funny. That night he beat Orlando Jordan in the same amount of time.

In October 2007, Mr.Kennedy was saying there was no competition fo him on SD!, and said he would put his title up against anyone. Chris Benoit came out. After a great match, Beniot won. I witnessed him win his last title.

About a month ago I was at ONS. Chris Benoit was a Lumber Jack. What a waste of a great talent. He got a huge pop. He didn't seem too happy to be there, and I don't blame him.

He was a great wrestler. I can only hope and pray the reports of him doing this aren't true.

R.I.P. Chris Benoit

Oh man, tell me anything else happened. Tell me that Kevin Sullivan finally decided to exact his revenge for Benoit stealing Nancy. Tell me that Jake Roberts was on a vicious bender and did it. Tell me that it was a conspiracy from McMahon to create a real life death angle for ratings. But please oh please do not let it be that Benoit did this. For a man that had such a great career, this will forever tarnish his memory, if it is true that it. Which I hope it isn't.

I remember seeing Benoit here in Cleveland back in 2004 when he was the champ. It was the last Raw he was champ as the Summerslam where he lost the belt to Orton was the following Sunday. The main event was him in a tag match with Eugene vs. Orton and Triple H. It was a pretty good match and looking back I'm glad I was able to see Benoit and when he was the champ. He was one of my favorite wrestlers and I'm gonna miss seeing him in the ring.

R.I.P. Chris Benoit

this is bad for the wrestling world not only we lost him but a big hit on wwe image and wrestling..damn i can see it now "pro-wrestlers are killers due steroids" ...not good

they probably would have anyway because there will always be those that will believe that he would never do such a thing, even if it is proven.
as of right now i'm not making a decision because the police department even stated that they can't be sure that it was a double murder suicide or if it was a three way murder that was made to look like it was benoit that did it. once the autopsy results come back we'll all have a better idea of what went on.
it's too bad though. benoit was a great wrestler and i'd hate for something like this to tarnish people's impressions of him.

Well to keep this on track, then, what was Everyone's favorite Benoit Match? Mine was when he wrestle Bret Hart in WCW in the Owen Hart Memorial.

Not so much a fave match as a fave feud/partnership, Benoit and Jericho were awesome together whether against each other or as a team. No other pairing have had the chemistry that they had together. They truly complimented each others styles.
Whether all of this speculation is true or not doesn't change the fact that he was 'The Man' in ring and thats how I will always remember him.

RIP Benoit and Family

Benoit was a great wrestler no doubt...When I watched raw and the very first image that I see is "in memory of chris benoit", I was in utter shock and disbelief. I could not believe that he was dead and still can't. But that is all gone now. Sorry to say guys but the investigators have said that he did it. Fine, you have problems with your life and your job and everything, then take it out on yourself. He killed his wife and his son...there is no excuse for that. He has tarnished a 22-year career. In my mind, Chris Benoit was one of the greatest technical wrestlers...but that's all gone now for this one act. If he killed himself, and only himself, I would be saddened by what he did. But the fact that he killed his wife and son, even though you guys are in denial about it, has taken away my saddness from this death.

It has to be the Triple Threat match where he won the WWE Championship. Probably my favorite Wrestlemania match of all time, and one of the best matches of all time, period.

Favourite match is a toss up between the triple threat at 'Mania XX or the Royal Rumble '03 WWE Title match against Kurt Angle. Think the rumble match might just nick it in my personal opinion. JBL & Cole and spoke about it tonight but he lost that match and still got the biggest standing ovation and show of respect i've seen after a match had finished, gave me goosebumps and it visibly moved Benoit too. Was a classic wrestling match and i'll never forget it or Benoit either.

Love him and miss him already! R.I.P!

Chris Benoit was perhaps one of the best wrestlers ever. His dedication, emotion, and wrestling skill made his wrestling career what it is. This tragedy is a huge hit on the WWE, not because of their image from the case, but because of the loss of such a great wrestler and such a great man. I was tearing up seeing him and Eddie together after WM20, 2 of the greatest, the best of friends, now together again, but sooner than we had hoped... With the questions you love him, but u may wanna hate him, but u have to look at him as a wrestler and as a great man, not as a killer.

Benoit is a legend and his memory will never die.

I was going to write RIP benoit...but not anymore. His legacy has been tarnished. It's a confirmed fact and has been proven by investigators.

im reading the rumours about chris benoit on this site the whole time, nobody should say something about this case til they know the facts!!!

me fav match would be the match against angle at rubmle i think, and the match between chris benoit vs hbk vs hhh

Fav match was at the 2003 rumble V.S Kurt Angle after he lost ever one gave him a 1-min standing O it was amazing it was awsome to see hime live too

RIP
GOD BLESS
THE CRIPPLER

i will never beleve he did not even with the proof he is always going to the caring guy i like and one hell of guy in the ring

I live in Corpus, the city where RAW was cancelled & the Tribute show was filmed at. I couldn't believe it driving home when they told us what happened. I wasn't that upset the show was cancelled, I was sad Benoit is gone.

R.I.P. Chris, Thanks for the memories.

Ok,
So everyone is talking about how great of a wrestler/man Benoit is. Well guess what all of that is now done boom gone. He is no longer a legend but a murderer. He killed a fn Seven year old. His son at that and his wife. Who knows what happened. Maybe he was on a drug binge maybe he just snapped.
The point is we all have problems but don't go off killing people.
He is a piece of garbage for what he did and deserves no respect/tribute shows/anything. I'll probably get banned for posting this but this is my opinion and I'm sticking with it.
He is scum. Period.

I just really cant believe this!!! I live in London and its 6am, i got a call around 11 something last night from a friend telling me that he had died! Not only was that bad enough but now i wake and the first thing i read is that he could be to blame!!!
For some reason one of the first memories that came to mind when i found out and will always remember of Benoit was the Eddie tribute show, the famous man who showed little emotion and was mainly known for not having the best emotional mike work crying for the loss of his friend, that always struck a nerve when i think about it, very upsetting.

Im just in complete shock, the wrestling world has lost a true legend and 1 of/the best wrestler of all time and i hope to god that this ends up being ruled out because it would forever tarnish the name of a fantastic worker who deserves to be remembered that way!

EDIT: joejoe do you really believe that everyone isnt thinking all of this! Im sure that if true this will forever be a dark day for the wrestling world but we do not know everything and as such have no right to speculate! As stated before this is to remember the WRESTLER Chris Benoit so mabey you should just keep those ideas to yourself!!!

Will everyone stop with the witch hunt please! It's hard enough to take in without everybody reminding everyone else of the circumstances.
We're supposed to be talking about the legacy that Benoit built in his career, not his personal life. So please stick to the thread people.
