At the same time though, I'm a mark for the HOF every year, and one of my favorite past times is listening to old people tell their story.

True or false, oh wise one: Kevin Owens will be WWE World Heavyweight Champion this year.

Its hard to say only because the WWE is so incompetent and wasteful. I do enough lamenting on the amount of wasted opportunities they toss aside on the podcast. See; Wyatt, Bray.


Logic says he is easily their best heel, at every level of the game.


WWE Main Roster don't operate off logic though, it operates off of what bests pushes their next agenda.

Seeing that, I have a hard time seeing them putting protected Roman Reigns against the smark hero Kevin Owens.


This was a great job of giving a non answer....Ill go with....I would be surprised if he became Champ this year. Perhaps via MITB. Fuck, when was the last time a heel won the belt WITHOUT MITB? SummerSlam with Lesnar right?

The kicker with Bray is the way he's presented (never standing on the stage with the rest of the geeks, getting creepy entrances when the McMahons are in the ring, not taking the beatdown from Lesnar Monday like the rest of the disposable heels, always getting a strong showing against the god-tier faces) suggests they still see Bray as a top guy. They're just too clueless to do it properly.

But yeah, I too think Owens' shot is with the MITB. I can't see them keeping the belt on Roman for the remainder of the year once he gets it back at Mania. There needs to be a breather in there somewhere. Surely.

Thats really what is so wildly frustrating about Wyatt......Its blatantly obvious what he could be. Its like, RIGHT THEREmore weeks than not.


People suggest bringing back squash-type stuff would kill buisness, but not having any serious stars is what is ALREADY killing buisness, and you cant build anyone to be something to be taken seriously without them regularly crushing people.


There will be a breather in there, and I think what they end up doing with Owens at Mania will indicate if that will be him. I love the thought of Sami Zayn costing him the belt later, and them going into an IC title feud.

But when was the last time we saw something like that? The Jericho - HBK feud? The Jericho - Rey Mysterio feud over the IC belt?

Remember when the Wyatts black-out-teleported to the ring and faced off with the League of Nations? Holy balls. Just run with that for a couple weeks. League of Nations are clearly viewed as nothing more than warm upper-midcard bodies. Sacrifice them at the alter of Bray after a chaotic eight-man with a bit of build. This isn't rocket science.

I loathe the people who complain about how squashy NXT TV can be and say it's not worth watching outside of the Takeovers. Bitch, you only care about the Takeovers because that hour a week takes the time to build people up!

If Sheamus, Big Show, Kane, or Jericho get a big Mania spot instead of Bray, Ambrose, or Owens, I'll probably lose what little remaining faith I have. Even in a losing effort against one of the real stars, I expect at least one of those three to have a spot at the table.

Ah yes.....Its not like the reason a lengthy, athletic match is exciting on a psychological level because two great competitors who usually win with ease are now facing an opponent who is making them compete harder than usual.


No, much better when said match is just like the rest of them, not to mention utterly pointless.

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn as a Benoit/Angle style tag team.

I do agree from a creative/storytelling device standpoint it would be neat, but...


I have a hard time seeing it as Benoit and Angle's rivalry was mostly professional/competitive, wereas Sami and Owens is supposed to be based on jealousy, betrayal, and pure unadulterated hatred.

Why would you cooperate with that person for even one single second?

The only scenario I could imagine is their hatred being disruptive to the show, IE every time one of them shows up on camera, the other one inevitabley shows up and shit gets wrecked.....they are told they WILL work as a team or their carreers are over, for disrupting the show. This would lead to a fun cat and mouse of both of them trying to get under each others skin while teaming (causing the other to snap and get fired) both snap, both get fired.



Unsanctioned loser leaves town match is the result. Loser takes a month vacation, then shows up in NXT.




Would never, ever, ever, ever happen. Not because its ridiculous, but honestly, could you see WWE mapping something like the above out? Of course not.

Why did the movement cease? Did the teams decide it was too much of a job for one person......or did the coach/GM call it off?

Why did they want to hold the dual positions? Power? Ego?

Its tailed off because scouting and personel departments have gotten so sophisticated and multi layered that it has become neigh on impossible to keep pace with them if your department consists of one person.



As for why they wanted the position, an old Bill Parcells quote comes to mind

"if you want me to make this meal for you, its a lot easier if you let me go get the groceries"

Basically, the coaches felt their best chance for success was to pick their own players, and build the team in their image.
