NFL AND NCAAF bar room thread

Mighty NorCal

SHALL WE BEGIN?
Named so because id rather not confuse/enrage the Britons and Irish.

Its too important to get lost in the mix in the overall sports bar thread. TOO IMPORTANT

Well let's get it started then.

DeMarco Murray, worth picking up as a free agent? Or just a product of the offensive line Dallas has built?

It's not like running backs mean much anymore in the NFL. Murray had a great year but he's shown no signs that he can do that every season.

I think they are waiting to see what happens with the Peterson situation.

Too bad this aint the NBA, a sign-and-trade deal would be perfect for the situation.

Suh may get one of the biggest contracts ever. I can see why, what with all the Super Bowls and division titles they won with him on the team.

Reason I ask is my team is in all likelihood gonna be in the market for a RB, either in the draft or free agency. I'd like to get Murray, then draft a WR.

Unless of course Slick Rick can bring a miracle akin to peace in the middle east.

Raiders or Colts gonna be all over that if the Lions can't get anything done.

Hey I'd be glad to send you Murray for five players and eight draft picks or whatever insane deal we did back int he day.

If time travel is ever possible, I won't go back to kill Hitler or Stalin, or anyone like that. No I will personally go back in time and slap fucking sense into whoever the fuck greenlit the Walker trade on Minnesota's side.

"We'll send you 4 ok players, and if you release them we'll give you draft picks!"

Seriously, how fast did Dallas accept that deal? Did a nanosecond even fucking pass?

Also I'd go murk Darren Sharper and Gregg Williams around the year 2009 or so.

Meh. Its what Dallas did with the picks that made it worth anything.

I would be terrified of picking up Murray. That many carries and a spotty health record before this season? No thanks.

He is in a really weird spot because of that.

MVP canidate one year, no one wants you the next year.

and for good reason. ANyone paying Murray anything more than 4 mil a year is FUCKING INSANE

He will probably be looking for 6.5+ though.

Someone will give it to him. Hello, Oakland Raiders.

I wonder what inside linebacker prospects the Packers are in the market for. The defense has been suspect the last few years so they need to beef up.

I think you could put any above average RB in that spot and get the same results. Maybe even better.

Really hoping KC picks up one of these WRs in Free Agency. Maclin would be a super dope signing.

I really hope Denver gets back D.Thomas. Would like Julius to return as well but considering his father decided to rant about the team, Elway and Manning on twitter, I doubt he comes back. Another interesting situation in Denver is what to do about the RB's, all three produced during the season and now they could probably deal one of them and get a decent draft pick in return. Waiting for Welker to get cut so they can give his spot to Latimer.

Wouldn't mind the Colts picking up a good RB, maybe Ball or Anderson from Denver (though I would be shocked to see Anderson leave) or Murray should he come cheap enough.

Also who the hell is gonna catch passes now in Miami? They cut Hartline and someone I forgot, now they wanna deal Wallace.

So... college football? Are any of you aware of The CFB Belt? It's a website dedicated to documenting history between teams when a belt is on the line. Basically there is one championship team and that team must defend the belt every time they play a game. Right now, TCU has the belt. The only way the belt can shift to another conference is if they lose a non-conference game or one that is post-season. They document streaks and previous reigns. It really is a fun concept for those that like wrestling and college football.

We are still in the running for AP according to the reports that the Vikings want to ship him out. I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Speaking of guys we might get, word on the street is Andre Johnson is interested in being traded to us. If Reggie retires, I would love to get Andre.

If I were Miami, I'd try to get rid of Wallace too. His contract is too good for a guy of his production, plus Tannehill isn't known for throwing deep often, and that is where Wallace is at is best.

Speaking of the Bills.

Eagles trade Lesean McCoy to Bills for Kiko Alonso.

Wow. Spiller is out of Buffalo for sure now.

I'd love to get AP on the team. If Wayne isn't coming back I'd take Andre too.

Still Miami has like nobody to catch a pass anymore.

I suspect Indy will be the team that throws the best offer to Murray, then its just a matter of if he goes back to Dallas with it, and they're willing to match.

The one major caveat in all of these potential talks of top free agents though is the fact that teams will have to reach the 90% salary-cap floor this year, so while the Colts for example may have enough cap space for a serious offer to Murray, or a team like the Jets for example may have enough space for a serious offer to Suh, Jacksonville and Oakland have SO MUCH MONEY that they will be FORCED to spend, they could just offer something stupid to whoever they fall in love with, resulting in a number that would be illogical for any well run franchise(not that the Jets fall into that category) to truly consider bidding against.

Look for Seattle and New England to be in play first on Andre. Just a guess, but they could use him, and I can see him going to either spot to chase a title.

I know Alonso was a freak as a rookie, but can you really justify trading McCoy for a guy who is coming off an ACL tear?

This just seems like a case of Chip trying to show he's smarter than the room, and also him going all-in for one of "his guys".

Trading this much for Kiko makes me think that Chip may indeed be willing to mortgage the farm for Mariota as well.
