If you average all of the presidential approval polls, Obama has an approval rating of 51.8 and disapproval rating of 43.7.

At the beginning of the year his approval rating was 63.3 and had a disapproval rating of 20.

What he's lost since the beginning of the year is the centrists and independents. The conservatives are generally always going to disapprove, and then there's a few liberals here and there who disapprove. He would have to shore up the middle if he were to win in 2012.

I don't think he can shore up the middle, he is too far left for most of us. The republicans need a moderate republican as their canidate in 2012.

It was The Economy and Foreign Policy that got Republicans shown the door. It wasn't just the Economy, alone. Bush and the Republicans have been unpopular for years before the 2008 election.

Rasmussen polling always leans to the Right, compared to all the other pollsters. I'm not saying don't pay attention to Scott Rasmussen, however he is a regular FOX News contributor, and is frequently hired by Republicans to do polling.

For Presidential Polling, he tends to poll more Republicans than the rest of the polling companies ... yet the two weeks before election time, his results tend to miraculously balance out so he can maintain having a reputation for "accurate polling".

The true numbers are usually in the middle somewhere, between all the polling companies. I would average them all, and NEVER go by one pollster.
