The biggest issue with Russo was that once he had some success -- and he had plenty of it -- he began churning out a bunch of random stuff, trying to catch lightning again. It just seemed like he was throwing a bunch of stuff at the wall and hoping something would stick.

Which was about the only reasonable thing to try at that point in WCW. Just because it didn't work, doesn't mean it wasn't the right thing to do. Absent catching lightning in a bottle the company was more or less doomed.
