NCAA Football LD 2012-2013 Season

Yes, im losing 42 - 13, with a minute left in the third quarter, let me call two screen passes and then a draw play.

if there was ever a play sheet for consecutive plays to build momentum, its two screen passes and a draw play.

The bowl season layoff always makes it difficult to accurately assess the true quality of a team. Sometimes teams come ready to play and sometimes they don't.

LSU has to have the worst quarterback developmental system in the history of football.

I mean, how the fuck do you recruit these top prospects, and not a single one can give you shit? You see these garbage schools with these QBs play like they're Joe Montana at times, and LSU year after year falls short because they can't develop a QB to be worth a damn. How I miss Herb Tyler and Rohan Davey. You put either one of them on these LSU teams of the last few years and LSU is unbeatable.

That's pretty much the entire SEC. Not just LSU.

Uhh... Texas A&M is in the SEC, and we saw what their quarterback did this year.

But this isn't about LSU even finding a Johnny Manziel or Cam Newton; it's about finding an A.J. McCarron or Greg McElroy, just a guy who can manage a game, throw good passes when called upon, and not turn the ball over. The fact that such an elite football program such as LSU hasn't been able to find or develop a QB to be at least that since Jimbo Fisher left is beyond pathetic.

:lmao:

It was only their first year. They had previously been Big 12/SWC for nearly 100 years before that.

Because schools in the SEC don't have to be excellent coaches. The SEC relies on superior athletes to win, not superior coaching. There's a reason Urban Meyer was national titles at Florida; he had superior athletes AND was a great coach. The same thing with Alabama.

This is why I keep telling people the SEC is not as great as people want to think it is. The success of the conference is in its athletes, not in its skill or coaching.

Haha I knew someone was going bring that up and it's a fair statement, but the fact is that he said every team in the SEC belongs in that "Good defense, no good QB" category and whether it's their first year in the conference or not, Texas A&M is an SEC team. Aaron Murray for Georgia is really good too, and I think Aaron Rodgers' little brother at Vanderbilt will end up being pretty good as well. To say every SEC team has a QB problem like LSU does is an unfair statement.

I can agree with this.

I like Les Miles and I believe he's a good head coach (great recruiter, his players love him, and he deserves all credit for that defense), but he's had a piss poor offensive staff since Jimbo Fisher left for Florida State.

Actually, he said "pretty much every team". The "pretty much" is a qualifier on the statement, which indicates the possibility of a small percentage who don't fit the blanket statement.

Besides, A&M is not an SEC school. They may play in the conference, but they are yet to be an SEC school. Hell, I'm not sure if they've even received a revenue check yet.

But to say the quality of play at the quarterback position in the SEC is vastly inferior to the other big time conferences isn't an unfair statement.

And I've never gotten the impression Les Miles even cares about having a good offense. I think he wants a serviceable offense, but after that, doesn't really care as long as his defense is great.

Well it's one of my favorite days of the year. 4 Big Ten games on within a 1 hour span allows me to flip through them all since MSU has already played. I wish at least one of them (Purdue/OK St.) wouldn't be on today because a 6-6 and 7-5 team shouldn't really get that privilege, but hopefully that comes when they reschedule their bowl schedule to get some more Pac 12 teams.

I think it'll be an ugly day (2-3 at best, only expecting NW to win) but still nice to see a Big Ten showcase, even without 2 of its 5 best teams.

Fair enough.

I wouldn't argue that.

But there's no team in recent memory where you could undoubtedly say they'd be National Champions if they only had a Quarterback who could manage a game. The other SEC teams cannot say that. LSU's QB problems are worse than any school in the conference, and perhaps even the entire country. Not including A&M, I'd take Georgia, Vandy, Florida, Mississippi State, and even South Carolina's QBs and their offensive coaches over what LSU has right now.

Nah, he puts a lot of stock in his running game, and he can be a huge risk taker on the offensive side of the ball at times. His staff simply can't develop QBs and his OC fucking sucks beyond belief.

The fact Purdue is playing today, on New Year's Day, destroys the argument for keeping the tradition of bowl games (as opposed to a playoff).

Oh believe me, I hate that there's so many big 10 games on in a condensed time span. Two I can live with, but any more just disallows you from really getting into the games. Plus Purdue was probably the 8th or 9th best Big 10 team last year with a lame duck coach. That's the one thing I hope Delaney fixes with the next go around. Put the Purdue bowl game (Heart of Dallas I think) a day or two before, and either put the Gator bowl earlier as well, or stagger the times better (11 ET, 1 ET, 3 ET) then only 1 would run into the Rose Bowl (Delaney's baby).

And Purdue is getting pantsed atm so I'll avoid watching that.

Mixed bag right now for the Big 10.

NW with a lead at half, Purdue is getting stomped. UM hasn't looked bad aside from the one big play, but Nebraska is Nebraska-ing right now.

Gotta say I'm pulling hard for NW. Want to see them get the monkey off their backs.

Plus Fitzgerald is one of the better Big 10 coaches who routinely does more with less.

Congrats to Northwestern. They finally get an even matchup (instead of being heavy underdogs) and get that monkey off their back.

I am totally confused right now.

I hate Michigan. I hate the SEC. Who do I root for? I want the SEC to lose but as a Notre Dame fan I hate Michigan.

And I was extremely happy for Northwestern. Great team, great coach, great win.

WOW!

Team Blooming Onion just took the lead over Team Coconut Shrimp in the Outback Bowl!

This is an amazing game.

Welp, we can conclude
Northern Illinois didn't
deserve its bowl berth
Using your logic, neither did Nebraska, UCLA, Mississippi State, USC, NC State, West Virginia, Wisconsin, or Duke.

Northern Illinois deserved what it got. It earned the right to be in a BCS bowl by being a top 16 team after the regular season and winning its conference. Just because they didn't win doesn't mean they didn't deserve to be there.

Northern Illinois deserved to be in the Orange Bowl more then Wisconsin deserved to be in the Rose Bowl. Yet where's the outrage for Wisconsin being in the Rose Bowl?
