College Algebra, huh? I had to drop it the first time I took it. I got a 45 on a test and it brought my grade up. I had like a 35 in the class. But I'm horrible at math and that was a terrible teacher. She would work an entie problem out on the board, and me being bad at math thought it was right. More times than not, she would look at the problem she just did and realize she made a mistake on step one or two and then rush through it once really quickly without explaining what she was doing. Awful, awful teacher.

Sorry about that rant. I just really couldn't stand that woman.

Yes and no. Instead of using conventional textbooks, you use casebooks in law school (i.e., compilations of judicial opinions on cases that become law once they have been written; sometimes, briefs, law review opinions, and the like are included along with the judicial opinions). While a law professor will lecture some to put cases into context, the majority of the class is dedicated to class-wide discussion on why certain decisions were reached and what, if any, fundamental rules were used to reach the decision under discussion.

There are a few practical courses though that deal with legal writing, civil procedure, criminal procedure, etc. These courses will be much more lecture-heavy by necessity.
