MLB Championship Series LD

a lucky bounce keeps the game at 5-1, as A-Rods double 1-hopped over the wall. Had it stayed in, A-Rod might have been at 3rd, and the runner on 1st would have scored EASILY.

Lance Berkman comes through with a Sac Fly, and it's now 6-1. Huge run for the Yankees, who put up a 1 after giving up 1. Back to a 5 run lead after 5.

He fell and slid

Sick slide = sarcasm
I realized it about 20 seconds after posting. After losing 1 All-Star first baseman, the Yankees can't afford to lose their backup All-Star First Baseman.

A HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE STRIKEOUT BY CC ENDS THE 6TH!

This is why CC got the big bucks. When he doesn't have his A-Game, he can still go 6 and only give up 1.

Thanks for reminding me TBS. Happy birthday by the way to the Late Great Bob Sheppard. He died 3 months shy of 100 years old, and was PA announcing for 55 years for the Yankees.

Also, Happy Birthday to another Late Great Yankee, who coincidentally made his debut the same year as Bob Sheppard. Mickey Mantle was born on this day in 1931.

Sheppard is a legend!
He was, to paraphrase Chris Jericho, The Best In The World At What He Did. No doubt about it. The Yankees, when replacing him, tell people that they need to do it like he did, that's how important he was.

And the biggest compliment to him is that He is one of the few people to be employed by George Steinbrenner for George's entire reign (so has head trainer Gene Monahan).

I have to agree with that. Definitely between him and signing Thames.
Agreed. And really both could have been had by anyone. Thames was a non-roster invite to Spring Training, and Wood is only getting 1.5 million from the Yanks (the Indians are picking up the rest of his remaining contract).

Although, Berkman might be the most important now with Texiera done for the season.

I made the mistake last night of thinking the Yankees had home field advantage so we're even. Damn, if only CC could play the rest of their games.

Hughes was an All-Star, and is a VERY talented pitcher (considered at one point to have ace stuff). Pettitte is the winningest postseason pitcher of all the times, and has won the last 4 Yankee Postseason Series ending games.

A-Rod with a steal. People forget he can still steal bases.

Did they say if Lee will start game 6 or 7, providing the Yanks win this game?
Game 7. He has NEVER pitched on Short Rest, I doubt they would risk it now, especially since he would be guaranteed to go in this series if need be. If the situation was reversed maybe he goes Game 6.

I would go with Pettitte if they go to a Game 7 or whatever game the Rangers start Lee then. CC is the best pitcher they have though imo.
