I'm Literally Just Here for WZCW
From the highly successful thread series known as the Over/Under Rated Wrestler from such sections as the Old School and the General Wrestling areas, I have decided to create one that has split many internet fans about the relevance of Mickie James.

At this point, she can be considered to be the total package in the WWE's Diva's Division. She is a great wrestler and worker who knows how to make people look good, she has the charisma and the ability to work as any character that is required of her, she has the biggest following in the WWE and knows how to get the fans on her side as a face or against her as a heel... thus far, I have not seen one match where she was booed as a face, and very rarely did she get cheered as a heel. She has proven time and again that any match that she competes in elevates the match, this can be shown by listing the best feuds/matches of the past couple of years. Most of them contain Mickie James in the mix. Did I mention is quite possibly the sexiest woman on the roster AND hasn't sustained a huge injury despite her weight issues?

However there are points that people can make that can be for the negative. Like I mentioned, she has gained weight recently that has attributed to botch moves due to others not being able to account for the extra poundage, her face character is very boring and generic... and seems to sandbag her opponents in such move as the Mickie DDT by landing the move even if you aren't ready for it or don't want to take it.

For me, not as one of her biggest fans where she is my favourite wrestler to ever grace the professional wrestling ring (yes, even above such people as Bret Hart, Antonia Inokia and Ric Flair)... but as an objective women's wrestling viewer that actively follows the sport... I would say that Mickie James is neither overrated or underrated. She deserves every accolade in the positive sense she has been given and will continue to do so in the following years.

Any thoughts on the matter? There's a poll for those that don't want to post, as per tradition of the thread series.

I really think all these "Over-rated/Under-rated" threads are getting kind of old because of the sheer amount of them.

I would also agree that she is neither Over or Under-rated and feel as though she has received credit where it is due for each of her accomplishments and abilities.

I would like to see her involved in more angles, though ... other than strictly matches after matches. However, that is a big problem in the Divas division, as a whole.

She's rated properly. There's an old expression: you can't make chicken soup with chicken shit. The problem is simple: Mickie is a good wrestler, and other than Beth she's had zero to work with for a good long time now. Mickie is good, but she's not Trish or Lita. She can't save the other workers and bring them up to her level, and that's not something you can really criticize her for. Watch her stuff with Beth or Melina and you'll see how good she really can be. Mickie is fine.

It's funny, because even the people who trash TNA in comparison to WWE can't really deny the Knockout Division's superiority in both depth and athleticism over the Divas. Considering most of Mickie's matches last a max of about 3 mins., and most of her opponents have maybe a four- to five-move skill set, it's pretty hard to judge how talented she might really be. Moreso, she doesn't seem to really have much of a personality. She's not been given a chance to develop as much of an onscreen persona as either a Lita or Trish did, which was nearly as much of what both were judged on as their overall athletic ability.

Considering Mickie seems to actually have wrestling skills, it would be AWESOME to get to see her tested by some of TNA's talent. Then we'd know for sure whether or not she's over-, under- or accurately-rated.

I'd say Mickie is rated just about right. She's a very good wrestler, but ever since her feuds with Beth Phoenix, she really hasn't done anything worth remebering. Sure she had the chase for her to beat Maryse for the Diva's title this year, but it really didn't get you hooked like her feuds with Beth. I do miss the days when Mickie feuded with Trish, when she was playing the role of the psycho-fan. Maybe she needs a heel turn?

I would like to see Mickie go back to TNA. I know they would put that strap on her quick. yeah once she has a feud with Michelle McCool and Natalia Neidhardt we would have seen it all.

I think she is properly rated tho. the problem is these newer divas can't take her moves, and i was dissapointed when Gail Kim didn't take the ddt correctly, that was a great match that ended horrible. Aliesha Fox almost got her neck broke.

We do need to see more from Mickie as far as her character. When she first debuted and did the whole psycho thing it was great, but after that they stopped developing her like a trish or a lita

As long as she has that fat ass of hers she deserves her status. But really the girls a fine wrestler and she works hard as hell but she doesnt look happy lately. Maybe she needs Trish back.

HA! I was just talking about this last week. Mickie James is the only diva with an ass.

Although Mickie James has had quite a few solid, memorable matches in the past, that's definitely not the case anymore. The only recent thing memorable about her to me is how many crucial spots she's missed.

I agree with everyone who said that Mickie James is neither overrated or underrated. I hear some good things about her, and then I hear some bad things about her. So? That is true about the majority of the divas in the WWE. Same with the WWE Superstars. She is just where she belongs.

WWE has done and has been doing a very great job of booking Mickie James. That could be said about all 4 years that she's been in the WWE. That cannot be said about many other current divas. She debuted already in a stroryline, ironically, involving the greatest female wrestler ever, Trish Stratus. It was beautifully written. Everything about it was just great. She would later go on to feud with Ashley Massaro, Lita, Melina, Beth Phoenix, and others.

If WWE would make the smart decision of putting as much effort into booking other divas, like they've done Mickie James, then the Womens Division would be a lot more interesting. In the 4 years Mickie James has been in the WWE, she's become a 5-time champion. She's well on her way to tying or even surpassing the record set by Trish Stratus at 7. She could very well become the first diva, since the Brand Extentsion to find moderate-to-great sucess on both Raw and Smackdown. Things have been nothing but great for Mickie James.

So, I say that Mickie James is neither overrated or underrated. However, I can really understand why someone who say she's either of them. Some may say she's overrated since she seems to be getting more attention and exposure compared to the other divas, and better booking. While some might say she's underrated because besides all that, she hasn't been able to make as big of an impact to the business, like Lita and Trish Stratus has been able to do. I can understand both views, but me... I put Mickie James as neutral.

First off I'd love to say that Mickie James is one of the reasons I still watch wrestling after 13 plus years. I have seen alot of wrestlers come and go period, including some very talented Divas. I personally think Mickie James is one of the best female talents ever to grace the WWE, I think she VERY much deserves to be a top rated diva who is in the light alot. She can actually wrestle. I think alot of people who think she has sucked lately dont realize, you actually have to work together in that ring to make things look that awesome! And when someone as strong as Mickie has to go up against women( Alicia, Gail, Layla, Rosa) that arent as strong as other(Beth, Melina, Michelle, Natalya) Its hard to help that. I think the move to Smackdown is going to be great for mickie. And I do hope she surpasses Trish's number of times as champ, for Mickie does truely deserves her success!!!!

Mickie is definitely rated just right for her overall career. There's not much here I can say that anyone else hasn't already said, but I'll add this:

For a year or so now, Mickie has had absolutely nothing to work with, and has become more and more visibly upset with how she's been used. There's really noly one way to see if she can still "go", and that's for her to be a Knockout. They'd put her in the right matches, and give her decent storylines over random match-ups. If she can still hang with the likes of Sarita, Taylor Wilde, and Awesome Kong, then she's under-rated for her career. If she gets shown up, and looks out of her league, then I'd say she's slightly over-rated.

What the fuck is the point of this thread? Seriously. We get it Falkon, you love Mickie James. Shouldn't we save these kinds of threads for wrestlers who there might actually be a debate about? Or, I don't know, veterans? Sorry, but this thread just pisses me off.

Overrated or underrated...I'll go with overrated on this forum. The way some of our posters talk about her you'd think she was the female Bret Hart. Please, there so many better workers than Mickie, she's an amateur in the ring. But in WWE-land, amateur is good enough to be the best when it comes to working a match. She keeps my penis happy though and that's all that really matters in the WWE.

I'm leaning towards underrated but upon further review she probably just deserves her status.

It's ridiculous when people consider Mickie just having an ass as her being a fat ass. Please. That's just typical virgintastic garbage being spewed by nerds that feel embiggened by sitting behind a keyword. This is the same girl that these guys busted one over when she played her psycho stalker gimmick to a higher level than even Victoria could. This is the same girl that IWC geeks loved when she turned a hostile Chicago crowd completely against the old golden girl, Trish Stratus at 'Mania.

If Mickie is any worse it's because her opponents are worse. Who has she had to face recently? Kelly Kelly? Alicia Fox? Rosa Mendes? Please. They're all talentless lumps. No, Mickie's not great at carrying opponents but she's still damned good. Give her a good opponent and she'll most likely give you a good match.

Haters to the left.

The entire WWE Divas roster should be terribly unhappy, if working decent programs against talented performers is of any interest at all. The unfortunate fact for these women, which is also an up-side for the vast majority since they can't actually wrestle, is that in Stamford they only want these women around as eye-candy.

The WWE would rather have 10 girls on-hand willing to work a Bra-and-Panties match at the drop of a guest-host's hat than two capable of putting on a palatable in-ring performance. Since wrestling isn't really a priority, those performers actually capable of working a decent match aren't guaranteed a push of any kind . . . and, more importantly, are allowed to gather ring rust or muscle atrophy from so rarely having to flex those skill sets.

Even when WWE divas are put into an acceptable program with one-another, creative seldom assigns those any kind of memorable depth of writing. Stories like Mickie's stalker gimmick with Trish are so rare, they must be remembered, as there's nothing else in the Divas division worth mentioning.

It's really sad, because the WWE does have capable workers. While I'm not going to say she blows me away (it's a taste thing, and she doesn't), Mickie can go in the ring. They have other options, also, like Beth (I think is very talented and also a genuinely interesting CHARACTER), Gail Kim (sorry, she's VERY talented) and to even Melina (drop dead gorgeous looks AND in-ring skills). Sadly, since Beth isn't their "ideal" for a future Playboy pictorial, she's practically sidelined. And Gail doesn't seem to be what they're looking to book either.

Hopefully now that Mickie and Beth are on Smackdown, where wrestling seems of more importance, they'll get used better. Trust me on this one, though, I'm not holding my breath.
