Mickie James Criticizes Hogans' Praise of Garrett Bischoff; Is It A Work?

That wasn't the initial plan, was it? The fact that the fans chose to cheer for him is a whole 'nother story. He was shooting on everyone, including the fans. WWE chose to tone his heelish behavior down in terms of his verbal attacks toward the audience and slowly push him into the babyface lane, which of course ended up in a big wad of nothing, resulting in Punk being about 20% over of what he used to be and generating no other benefits for the company other than selling some T-Shirts, but that's WWE for ya. Trendin' on Twitter, C-List celebrities and T-Shirts. Pro wrestling as it was meant to be.

All bonafide truth aside, If TNA wants an "edgy" Mickie heel, they'll keep her that way. Will it generate heat from the crowd? Eh, who knows, chicks aren't that good at getting in people's heads except if they're screeching real loud a-la Vickie or Rayne. We've had some faces who were great heels, we've had some faces who were shitty heels. Plus, I doubt she's as good as Punk on the mic, good enough to make people actually like her through respect or some other variable which will eventually yo-yo her back to being a face.

At the end of the day, anything she does will be better than this vanilla WWE bullshit she's been doing since she came along. Velvet could use some revamping too but poor gal's so talentless when it comes to something other than grinding on a rope that a heel turn would only ruin her career.

And please don't be silly enough to deem this as a bust before it's happened, because you're just as ignorant as those you mock who say that the heel turn will make her better, I hope your smart ass realizes that.

I know, you hate when I write a lot because every word I write makes you sound dumber. Silly boy, if only you dropped your bias for two seconds and thought like a normal person, I wouldn't have to constantly do this to you.

First off, your first paragraph makes you sound like a complete moron. Punk is hugely over in basically every arena, he's selling like crazy, and he's getting a match at Wrestlemania with Chris freakin Jericho. I'm not sure how you deem that as toned down. If anything, I think they tried to tone him up too much. He said too much too soon so the insults and "4th wall" stuff lost a little luster for a time. Now that he'll feud with someone that isn't management though, it should help I think. Then again, your whole paragraph scream of "I need to try and knock down something WWE has discovered and is doing very, very well."

This is about Mickie though and while he's always been a solid worker and my favorite female worker since Lita, she can't talk. Like, worse than Jeff Hardy in that she can't talk. Don't believe me, just watch any time she sits at a desk to commentate on a match. It's awful. Her promos themselves aren't any better so if anyone is going to pull of whatever role you came up with for her, it can't be her. She will fail. And no, that's not just "not giving it a chance", it's making an educated guess based on A LOT of data.

To close, your main argument is to "change it up because it'll be better than now", but it's a stupid argument. Her now is the most over knockout on the roster. Since her time in WWE, the fans have liked her and have popped for her and basically only her. Velvet gets a little reaction and the rest of the knockouts get nothing. Mickie gets a reaction so naturally she's the one that needs to change right? I love this logic in silly fans.

My argument is that your talking about a knockout. It's not like the women sell anyway. That said, why would you take the only one that does and turn her into something she's not. Makes no sense, which is why I fully expect it to happen..........and for no one to care and for it to flop.

Mickie James has feuded with Madison. She feuded with Tara as part of the Madison Rayne feud. She feuded with Gail Kim. She feuded with Winter/Love. What else is there left to feud with on the heel side? Unless she is slated to continue her feud with Gail, turning her heel is likely the best route.

The one thing I worry about, and I may be wrong about this, its a heels job to carry the pace of the match (especially in a longer match) until the babyface makes their comeback. Mickie can incite the crowd with heel mannerisms all she wants, when it comes time to slow the pace of the match down, I don't think Mickie James carries people like some of the better Knockouts do. Gail can carry a match. Winter can carry a match. Tara, when heel, can do that. Tara carried Diva's like Kelly Kelly for Christsakes. Madison is a solid worker, she too can carry a match. Maybe because Mickie has been face for so long I'm used to her doing the stereotypical babyface comeback. Would a heel Mickie James match work? And besides, she wouldn't be the stalker psycho chick, and who knows what heel character she would be.

We'll see. I would welcome a heel Mickie. When Hogan went from Red and Yellow to Black and White it gave his career the breathe of fresh air it needed. I am not saying Mickie will become Hogan... all I'm saying is turning a popular babyface into a mega heel can freshen them up, breathe new life into them. Mickie might have fun again. I feel she is going through the motions right now. There is no life. So maybe, just maybe, a heel Mickie is just what the Knockout Division needs.

Were Mickie's comments a work ?
Well, they've got to be - there was definitely a Punk-esque style to them that, for me, was easy to see.

If they were genuine unscripted comments, then history says her tenure in TNA is going to take a dive.
You do not, DO NOT, bash Hogan in ANY capacity (be it in jest, or otherwise) and get away with it.
1) ODB was champ. She comically referred to Hogan as her bitch in an interview. She then lost her belt 2-0 in a 2/3 falls match, and was out of the company shortly after.
2) Daniels was in a heel role, trying to get the crowd against him when he was in a match against Val Venis (yeah - a tough task), he said something derogatory to Hogan's daughter for the purpose of cheap heat .. he ended up losing his feud (yes, against Venis) and was out of the company.

I was in the Wembley crowd for the currently shown Impacts.
In the Mickie/Velvet match, I was half-heartedly cheering for Mickie because of her original TNA run with Raven's gathering .. you know, when she was cool, and her character could NEVER get stale ; )
When she started teasing a heel turn, I was popping for her all throughout the match.
My point is that I'd much prefer Mickie to be edgy, and if a heel twist is what she needs to display that, then I'm all for it.

So that leaves the Knockout division lopsided.
However, so few knockouts are featured in big storylines at any one time that, believe it or not, the lopsided allocation won't be overly noticeable. When there's an opening, someone will get a face turn to even things up.

Incidentally, when Hogan anointed Baby Bischoff as the future of the company (leading to Mickie's twitter work) the Wembley crowd booed the shi% out of Garrett .. but 'thanks' to a heavy dose of dubbing, this didn't come over on the TV broadcast.

Right. Because there hasn't been a TNA guy (or gal) who's been vocal about their environment before. Clearly. But in the world of smarkdom, I guess everything is up for debate. Now random blogs are treated like backstage promo's and grounds to take seriously as part of a show. Because clearly, you can turn heel via a blog now voicing your opinion on a matter you are totally unrelated to kayfabe-wise. I guess I should go make a thread about how The Rock might head to TNA because he praised Bobby Roode.
