Norcal is right. This is nothing to be so angry about. I for one cried like a bitch when Jeremy Piven was announced to host the show, He's the one of the funniest guys on TV, and I didnt know he was a WWE fan.

For all you idiots that want to see A listers on the show, how about this ditty for you? Most people dont think wrestling is cool. ZZ Top and Seth Green and Shaq actually like the WWE. They actually buy tickets to attend event. Maybe thats why they were used, because they like the product and arent just in it to be on TV and promote their own show, although that is obviously part of it.

If you dont like it, dont watch it. Simple, but you'll be missing out on some great RAW.

Im excited as hell i cant wait for the Real Gold Standard to be on RAW, Piven is so funny, and its 99% sure he's going to be playing Ari on RAW, so you can bet its gonna be funny... just with alot less swearing... and no mention of Ass fucking a chick then making her ride a bike home.

i can see him showing up in a suit with his 2 cell phones... and i would buy him running the show... just like i bought Heyman running Smackdown... never bought Bish as the GM of RAW becuse he was just hunter's little bitch... where as 'Ari' doesn't take shit from anyone no matter who they are... its gonna be good, cant wait... im not as excited about Shaq... would rather have seen Rodzilla baby!

I don't see why too many people are complaining with Piven being host. They are trying to garner in more non-wrestling fans and this is the way to do it. ZZ Top wasn't the right choice for last week because most kids have never heard of them. Shaq being host should be interesting and I look forward to watching. I wish they would do a celebrity one week and somebody from wrestling the next week and alternate but so far the guest host thing has been okay.

The guest host bit is providing Vince and the WWE exactly what it wants - press clippings.

Each week, several major media outlets are picking up on who's "hosting" the show. It's not about the individual's ability to be funny, be creative or be entertaining. Shit, ZZ Top proved that this past Monday !!!

I don't even think it's about increasing ratings. It's about making wrestling more mainstream and trying to attract new viewers in the long run, which MAY ultimately increase ratings.

Plus, if you haven't noticed yet, each guest host has had something new to plug while they're there... except Dibiase.

This week, it will be Shaq's new reality show on ABC and next week, when Piven hosts, it will be his new movie and more than likely, Entourage.

It really is a brilliant way to cross promote the wrestling business with show business. I just wonder if any of these guys will return the favor and plug wrestling during their shows, which I highly doubt.

Jeremy Piven is freaking awesome! He is another big star and a great choice for guest host. He will definetly bring some media attention to Raw. I guess it's for his new movie, which looks epic. I'm thinking Piven will be more like the Seth Green host, a genuine fan of the WWE who is going to have some fun. Anything is better than ZZ Top though.

Raw just keeps getting worse. ZZ Tops? really? Shaq? really does anyone give a shit about Shaq? maybe they should of got someone from the Lakers, you know seeing as they made the play offs, and well they won the play offs.

Quite a lot of people care about Shaq actually considering he's got one of the biggest Twitter pages on the web. He's an A-List celebrity who millions of people follow. Quite a few people care.

Piven? ugh dont get me started on this douche wad, yeah the show he's on is funny, but most of it being funny has nothing to do with him.

Well clearly you must not actually watch the show than. Everyone and their mother knows that Piven is the highlight of Entourage, he's won three fucking Emmys for it. You don't know what you're talking about.

Who next? Fallout Boy? oh joy cant wait........

WWE should be so lucky. I hate Fallout Boy but they would bring in a HUGE rating. But no, you don't want the WWE to try to win new fans for an industry you claim to love? You should be happy they're trying to capture new viewers.

They need to bring in someone exciting, although I would rather it not be someone the likes of Austin, Hogan, Pipper, Flair, the Rock, or a not so older popular wrestler. Sure those guys would drive the ratings up, but in the long run it would hurt and already suffering product. Raw has been shit since before WM25, and it doesnt look to be getting any better

Explain to me how Piper showing up for a night is going to hurt the WWE in the long run. That's completely asinine.

As Norcal said, you guys are acting like spoiled children who cries because he doesn't like his new toy. The celebrity hosts has ZERO, count it ZERO impact on the WWE, the product, or the show.

Everyone who has a problem with this, kindly shut your faceholes.

I marked out BIG FUCKING TIME when I read that, I'm a huge fan of Entourage and an even bigger fan of Jeremy Piven, dude is fucking GOLD and one of the most talented guys in all of Hollywood. He's got this charisma that just draws you into every single word he says like it's some of the most important shit you're ever gonna hear. He's absolutely hilarious as well.

Seriously, I haven't been this excited over a WWE TV show since I was like 8 years old. I'm AMPED for RAW in two weeks, it's going to be god damned epic. Best guest yet. And the fact that it's going to draw in Entourage fans and wrestling fans alike like myself is more than justification enough for this whole guest host thing. I don't understand why everyone is complaining about this, I'd rather have some celebrities to spice up the show than the same tired fucking RAW formula week-in and week-out. Some of you people will pick anything apart, we could have a Hulk Hogan-Stone Cold cage match and half of you would be on here calling it lame.

Once again, what Xfear said.

I remember reading somewhere, probably on the main-site so don't trust it, that the WWE is going with this for as long as they can pull it off. As long as they can get decent guest stars, they're having them roll on in. And to say it doesn't freshen things up is insane. How is having a new guest host every week not incredibly awesome? If you wouldn't read spoilers and not find out who the guest host is until the Raw before or even that very Raw, you would be so much more surprised.

As far as Jeremy Piven, he'll be great. Everyone who has HBO knows he's awesome as the manager on Entourage. I wouldn't be surprised if he hosts as that character. It'd be the funniest character to grace Raw this side of that Cena promo on Monday. Fucking "He's a hobbit. ...No, trust me. I saw the movie. He's a hobbit." :lmao:

Piven can do nothing but help. And it's not like he's going to spend an hour giving promos, so we're not going to have any less wrestling.

It should be noted that if the company continues to the storyline of having a guest host of Raw every week that there are plans of bringing The Godfather back to be the host of the August 24 edition of Raw in Las Vegas

Get ready for some jokes about Hos and Pimps, I for one would like to see how this plays out, It's been a while since we have seen The Godfather on WWE Television. Although, it says these are the plans as of now, anything can happen at anytime in the WWE, which means anything can change at any moment. But seeing him could be pretty interesting.

Somehow, I don't see this happening as this is the PG-era and the Godfather is not very PG. Although, If they do this the Godfather would have to be considerably tone down in order to be accepted by PG standards.

See everyone? They're trying to strike a balance between old wrestlers and celebs. Shaq, Seth Green, and Dibiase, Godfather. This guest host thing isn't just a influx of celebrities for ratings.

As far as how Godfather will do...He'll bring the HO TRAAAIN, hopefully. He's not the Godfather without his pros. Though, if he doesn't get his hos, he'll still be able to cut promos that will put the current wrestlers bar Cena/Trips/Orton to shame. This won't be bad. Not at all.

..That's assuming he comes back as The Godfather. If he comes back as The Goodfather I'll be all disappointed. I don't need a member of Right To Censor. I need a man with a train of hos...or Divas, however you look at it.

This should be pretty interesting, I saw the Godfather in Lexington, KY 10 years ago and the Ho's he brought out were pretty rough looking. He should have some nice Vegas ho's to bring down for sure if Raw is going to have him guess host. I'm no fan of guest hosts such as ZZ Top, as long as they have good matches on the show then it will be fine. I don't even think a main event like Hogan/Austin in a barbed wire match could of saved Raw last Monday though.

I remember a couple of weeks ago on some Wrestling website, not sure if it was this one, but in an article it said that The Whole Guest host thing was just to get the WWE out of the PG era, and on August 24th in Las Vegas is where its gonna happen.
He will bring the HOOOOOOOOOO TRAAAAAAAIN in and that will end it, that is the whole point of the celebrity guest host thing.

I'm sure it isn't going to hurt Vince or anyone else to lighten the fuck up just a little bit. They had a bikini match and all of those divas dancing ****eishly to ZZ Top last week. Anything he does will be no worse than any of that.

I highly doubt that WWE is gonna use the Guest Host thing to get out of PG, when they do decide to change its gonna be when JOHN CENA goes heel, that when Vince is basicly saying Fuck you to all kids.

I personally loved the GodFather should be a very funny Raw.

Since it looks like they are altering their way between celebrities, athletes, musicians, and former wrestlers I liked to see Dave Chappelle or Chris Rock guess host even though it will probably never happen. Any comedian would be good, especially if they had Sacha Baron Cohen as Bruno. Howard Stern is a fan, somewhat, of WWE and TNA. They could have him but since it's TV PG you cant do too much. Hence, that's why we saw the garbage they dished out last Monday. If Aerosmith is going to be at Summerslam or be contributing to it have them on Raw or AC/DC or even Metallica. Maybe they can play a show instead of stand around like ZZ Top saying 2 words all night. I would mark out for Mean Gene, Bobby the Brain Heenan, or Hillbilly Jim. I love Entourage but I don't want Jeremy Piven to host the show. Same thing with Seinfeld, Jason Alexander and Larry David is hilarious but I don't think Raw would be a great atmosphere for them. Bring back some WWE originals we haven't seen for a while. Mix it up a little.

Man, i miss the Godfather. one of my first wrestling memories was shouting "save the ho's" back in the day. I can't wait. But yeah, the Goodfather would be a dissapointment

Definitely Godfather over Goodfather. Goodfather can suck it for all I care. The Godfather was definitely fun and Right To Censor was bad for the WWE and they need to completely remove the horrible memory of that from everyone's mind with a new Attitude Era of sorts.

Raw is the flag-ship and them getting guest hosts means that Creative doesn't give a f*** about Smackdown or ECW or even putting the hosts on Superstars and adding viewers to that show. Piven would be hilarious and Shaq wrestling Big Show might be kinda funny since Shaq would be perfect for Big Show to try and restart his battles with other giants. The Shaqtus would be funny on the mic to though most won't understand what he says...

I will be at the 8/24 edition of Raw so it would be pretty cool if the Godfather was the guest host. I was assuming they'd get a huge celebrity to do it since they will be in Vegas but the Godfather would be cool too. If he does the show he will definitely be the Godfather, not the Goodfather. There is really no point in bringing the man famous for the HOOO TRAIIINNN to vegas if your'e going to have him pretend to be an uptight loser. The wwe shouldthink of something cool and creative since they're in vegas, like having all the matches determined by the spin of a wheel or something like that.

He was Papa Shango, Kama, Kama Mustafa (NOD Member), Godfather, Goodfather (RTC)

He was ok in the ring in the 90's. I think he was at least acceptable when it came to wrestling ability.

He simplified the Attitude era perfectly back then.

I hope this is not just a tease from WWE to get older fans to view again.

Im not asking for a complete blown out Attitude era, just tweek it up a bit.

Most likely he will participate as a host that day. Now with internet news flowing quicker than ever before. It'll be a big letdown if they dont deliver.

I wonder what he's been up to the last 10 years.

For 2 people that have asked me to explain why my 10 pics for hosting Raw, I'll be more than happy to comply and make their day. I'll do so, despite I dont see other people explaining their choices.

Here it is:

1)Dennis Rodman- we all know he made several appearances in WCW back in the day, it'll be interesting to see what kind of impact he would have. Plus I havent seen him on tv in some time.

2) Jay Leno- like Rodman, he has WCW TV experience and knows what it is to be in front of, even perform, in front of this style of audience. Plus I like Jay Leno and would be nice for me to see him blend with WWE, at least for one night.

3) Eric Bischoff- we all know the history here. It'll be nice to see him again and see what "decisions" he makes that night.

4) Marty Jannetty- it would be perfect timing since his old friend would be making a comeback of his own.

5)Jack Tunney- I explained in a prior post.

6)Jesse Ventura- it'll be nice to see what the old ex Gov is up to. Plus he always does a great job announcing.

7)Dusty Rhodes- has a son in Legacy, and it'll be interesting to see what would play out there.

8)Superstar Billy Graham- also, interesting to see what he's up to and what kind of affect he would have being on Raw.

9)Ozzy Osbourne- he was at Wrestlemania 2 so he also knows what it is to be with an audience like the WWE Universe, yes I know this was 23 years ago, but if he's be available for it, why not.

10)Hulk Hogan- A great moment for him to perhaps advertise his upcoming book due in October, and if he's in better physical condition he could perhaps start a program with someone.

I know it's highly unlikely, but I would absolutely LOVE to have Jim Carrey host Raw....maybe get into it with King a little bit. That would make my day.

Another one I'd like to see is Paul Bearer. Maybe have him "allow" the BOD to have a match on Raw, since we haven't seen Taker in forever.

'Stone Cold' Steve Austin.

I'm not sure what his position in the company is right now, but I would personally love to see Steve guest host a Monday Night Raw. For a time he was Co. GM of Raw alongside Eric Bischoff and was very popular with the fans because of it. As for being a guest host, it would be very exciting to see what matches he'd have in store. Plus it would go down an absolute treat with the live audience and the TV audience as well.

I would love to see Austin as a Guest host but I think in order for that one to work they wouldnt be able to have any build up to it and have it be a complete surprise when it happens....Like raw opens and no body knows whose in charge so you have Orton come out to the ring and declare that he is goin to run raw and have him cut some promo about how he's been gettin screwed by all of these guest hosts and now its his turn and THAN glass shatters and out comes the rattle snake and you can just see the Ortons look go to complete hoplessness and than he gets the stunner and boom we have the best guest host ever

Those all sound good except Jack Tunney. He passed away in Jan 2004.

Oh I didnt know that.

I assumed he was probably a bit sick because of old age and whatnot.

It would have been interesting for him to Host a Raw, he would definitely have had that Leadership role in him, since back then he was the "President" for a period of time in the 90's.
