I just see it as a waste of time. I done drama work. Local productions, nothing big time but each time I did anything I have put my all into not fucking up. I did a play not too long ago that was set in the 1800's... I really had period costume dramas but I did it. And I learnt the script and people complemented me for it.

He has one big moment, live in front of a crowd on a two hour show. And he screwed up the most important word he had. I liked him before that. The Les Miz gag was quite brilliant. A very clever spin on the name and gimmick. I didn't really think he needed Cena to come out as back up. He was quite solid on the mic. A little shaky at first when Miz came out but he recovered well. He was really good on the mic, clearly a natural born performer so it's unforgivable that he said Summerfest.

I really hope they put an end to this. Story just seems to fade away because of it. To much focus is put on the boss.

I probably should have stuck this under the "official" guest host thread, but people stopped reading that weeks ago.

Anyway... so Vince had the genious idea to have Sgt. Slaughter host next weeks Raw from Calgary, Alberta ???!!!

Could they have picked a more American themed individual to host the show north of the border ?? I guess Barack Obama was busy !!

Seriously... if they wanted a former wrestler, why didn't they uncover The Mountie from the rock he's been hiding under and rekindle his fifteen minutes of fame.

I wonder if anyone thought about giving Bret Hart a call ?? More than likely he would have told Vince to kiss his ass, but Sgt. Slaughter in Canada - this ought to be good.

Sgt.Slaughter isn't the best choice, or not the choice that I'd find overly entertaining, at least. We've seen Slaughter appear on WWE tv for quite some time now, doing small things for the WWE such as with the Diva Search contestants in the boot camp. So, therefore he won't be as speacial as the other celeb gms, because we've never seen them on WWE TV.

However, Slaughter does pretty well on the mic, and can be involved in some entertaining skits. We'll have to see what he does.

I thought Piven and Ken Jeong were decent tonight. Wasn't as good as I was hoping from two guys as talented as those two, I really wasn't digging the character that Jeong was playing, not one of his best. Piven was humorous, but it was obvious everything he was saying was incredibly scripted, it just didn't have the usual comedic timing and flow he's known for. There were still quite a few funny moments between the two though, and I'm glad they hosted over someone as boring as Sgt. Slaughter will be next week.

The Million Dollar Man was one thing, because he's been such a rarity on WWE TV for so long. Slaughter on the other hand is the definition of overexposed and overrated. Guy had some good feuds and matches in the 80s, and the Hogan feud was epic, but I wouldn't rank him among the best of his peers. That said, he's been on WWE TV far too much over the last 10 years, it seems like every time they need someone retro, they go to him. I imagine the fans will be pretty indifferent to the guy next week honestly.

Ok, the guest celebrity host concept needs to go. I was willing to see where they took it but every thing I've wanted from it has failed and failed MISERABLY. It seems the bigger the star, the more epic the fail. Seth green was bad but then we had zz top and that was HORRIBLE.. then we had shaq who is a big time wwe fan but his night didn't really do anything and finally tonight, they had the biggest guest host and a definite A-List celebrity who also was the first one willing to go heel, 2 things that I felt were desperately needed to bring validity to this concept... and both failed. This needs to end before raw loses its entire audience

Its been okay so far but eventually i think the fans will start to get tired of it.

Heres who I would want to see from past wrestlers:

The Rock: This probably won't ever happen but think off how amazing it would be. He would totally punk Randy Orton, and outstage Cena.

Stone Cold: I could see this happening more than the Rock but still it most likely won't. He would be a great choice

Trish Stratus: The best diva wrestler in the past 10 years IMO.

Hulk Hogan: Doubt he'll be one of them because Vince shoots down the idea everytime.

Eric Bischoff: Was the greatest GM IMO. He could make some amazing matches and could bring back the Raw roulette.

I dont think anybody likes it and I dont seem to understand why vince has it in the first place. So far not one celebrity host has done anything to improve the wwe and at the moment the reason wwe raw is loosing fans is because the guest host are only going on it to advertise what ever it is they are in.

I can honestly say there is not one host that done anything to the help the wwe for example:

Batista:Only went on it to get revenge on orton. But i dont think puting him in a gautlet match helped.

Seth Green:Basicly only went on it to promote Robot Chicken and even though he got in the ring and fought!

Shaq:Claimed he was a huge fan, humilated Chris Jericho and Big Show, but yet was too chicken to do anything in the end

ZZ rock:Done nothing but play music with santino!

Jeremy Piven:Was dumb enough to listen to John fkn Cena and bann miz from Summerslam, Summerfest, and RAW, claim he was a cena fan but yet attacked him in the end, and yet he also pretty much only went on it to advertise his new movies.

For the record, I love the whole guest hosting idea for RAW. It has been keeping it fresh and entertaining. So what if it doesn't exactly make sense on a kayfabe standpoint? Bottom line, if it is more entertaining, then it is good for show. If you don't like the guest hosting, do yourself a favor and try to look past that.

Anyway, I was really looking forward to Jeremy Piven tonight. Very naturally funny, and I thought that he born to do things like this. Well, maybe he is, and perhaps he could have been great last night. It would be a hell of a lot easier to deduct and rationalize a verdict if there was not the screams of some fucking dick hole Hollywood "pimp" still ringing in my ear. Piven's buddy "Mr. Ken" made me die a little inside every time he blabbered on the mic last night. I understand he was supposed to be annoying, but that was just fucking ridiculous. An atrocity. It looked like Piven had true potential in the backstage promos. He interacted with the wrestler fairly well and his decision-making process seemed believable.

As for next week's Sgt. Slaughter, I can't say I'm too excited. Understandable, as you cannot have a big celebrity or athlete every week, and I think every so often it is appropriate to bring back a former WWE performer.

I don't see why everyone keeps having a go at the 'celebrities' because i'm sure their contribution to the script and creative side is very minimal. They can only work with what they're given by the creative/story writers. At least they've shown enthusiasm (apart from ZZ Top). In hindsight it's easy to dismiss the guest hosting as a bad idea, but i think the WWE is so outlandish, that when people come from the real world and are given a big role straight away, they don't usually have the ego (apart from Shaq) to deal with all the other personalities, and end up looking awkward.

(Btw, am i the only person who thought the little Chinese guy was kind of funny, and not irritating?)

personally i think piven was a mistake. atleast for a match that had implications to ban a star from the show. Maybe that was the point though maybe the next feud miz has the person will remind him that he got banned from a show and the fans were so caught up with pivens that they didnt even send him off it was like no one noticed miz was even there on his "last night" on the raw roster. other than that one tidbit i was happy with piven and dr ken. that still shot of piven's cross body attempt , even though its a simple move looks like he is used to lunging at people in that manner. not to mention they let randy punt seth green it was time a face got to do his maneuver to a guest host just my opinion though.

Piven was decent as a host, but Dr. Ken did not need to be there. Piven should've been a heel for the entire show, instead of just for the Randy Orton match. He did a decent job backstage in his promos but his promo to start the show was awful. I was ready to turn it off after the first 10 mintues, but the show was not half bad when Piven and Dr. Ken werent in a segment. I am looking forward to Sgt. Slaughter as more matches should be made for Summerslam and I like former wrestlers as hosts instead of celebs who no nothing.

Raw is in my hometown in a couple of weeks and I am skipping due to the fact that I hate this guest host shit. I'M sure that some of this has been said, but the guest host is really taking excitement away from the product. You could have Deniro, one of my favorite celebrities host, and I still wouldn't care.

The guest hosts take away from the show-plain and simple. hopefully this format won't be around much longer.

So as we know by know Sgt. Slaughter is going to be next week's guest host on RAW. For some reason seeing a non-celebrity like Slaughter (not saying he's not famous, just not outside the WWE Universe) makes me think the end of the whole guest host dealie is coming.

If you think about it, we started with a WWE superstar as the guest host and if my predictions prove correct, a WWE superstar would end it. It kind of makes sense to end it this way.

Another thing is that SummerSlam (not Summerfest) is fast approaching. Could it be possible that the last RAW before SS will also signal the end of all the guest hosts?

Personally, I love having guest hosts on RAW. For me it gives it a little bit of a SNL feel with a celebrity hosting the show. It certainly makes it more entertaining. I only watch RAW just for the celebrity bits or if MVP, Swagger or Miz are in a match. I would love to see the whole guest host deal go beyond SummerSlam, maybe even to Survivor Series. But even if it doesn't, that just means more of my time devoted to SmackDown.

What do you guys think. With Sgt. Slaughter being the guest host next week, do you think it's the beginning of the end of the guest hosts?

Nah, i don't think the guest hosts are going to be over just bcuz SS is the guest host.... He might just be like Ted Sr. n make a few matches for SS

i don't think this is the end. All indications are that the guest hosts are going over really well, so I think they will continue with it. I think perhaps the location of next week's Raw has something to do with it (Calgary Canada). I also wouldn't be surprised if Sgt. Slaughter isn't helping plug the GI Joe movie (A paramount movie, paramount is under the same umbrella as USA network which airs Raw in the US)

No the only reason its not a celebrity is because nobody wanted to go to Calgary. Thus, Sgt. Slaughter takes over for a week. This wont end for a while as it is getting more rating despite the show getting worse and worse each week.

The only entertaining guest host was Shaq. Jeremy Piven was not at all interesting, except for his spot at the end of RAW. And that Asian guy was the most annoying thing I have seen in a long time. Raw needs to bring in a good GM to give the show continuity or use Vince in a regular role. I personally am tired of the guest hosts.

Slaughter was the gm back when HHH and HBK formed DX.
I think this is for a reason, but No I don't think Slaughter will be the last host.
I bet the final guest host will be the new gm.

not likely. the celebrity hosts have generally given a bump up in ratings. i think its just way of keeping things fresh. the sarge was reasonable in his role as commisoner so i imagine he will do an alright job. plus if u have celbrities every week it will get old and sooner or later they will run out and u will have to drag back some which may not be popular. im pretty much open to mixing it up

Do celebrities really hate spending 5 minutes to go through customs? In terms of flights going to Calgary from Hollywood isn't any harder than going to say Dallas.

But I live in Calgary so that's my two cents.

Sgt. Slaughter isn't going to be the end of the guest hosts. Think about this, DiBiase was Raw host and it didn't end the week he was there. They have to switch it up every now and then it can't always be a celebrity. I like when the wrestlers are Raw hosts. I enjoy the Raw host bit and I hope it continues. My only problem is this. They will eventually run out of hosts and then what. The people who only watch Raw for the hosts will stop watching and Raw will suffer. That's why they can't rely too much on the hosts to carry the show as much as the superstars on the payroll.

Lord I hope so!!

But I'm sure Vince is getting paid to use the guest host's that are there to promote their stuff. Seth Green = Robot Chickens new season debut , ZZ Top = A Greatest Hits Cd, Shaq = His own TV show and Priven = The Goods Movie, Its a fricken 2 hour commercial for their crap.

How about you get someone to do it that just wants to do it and not someone with a agenda then it could be interesting

Sgt. Slaughter, famous for his "Go America Fuck Yearh!" persona as a guest GM... in Canada? Come on people, I think it's safe to say he's going to be a heel GM. He'll come out, say a few statements glorifying America, all that stuff, get some decent heat, and start making some matches. Honestly I have been really enjoying the guest host appearances, and I hope it goes on for a while, rather than being a two-month stint.

No its not the end of the celebrity guest hosts. I personally like the idea of the guest hosts because its keeping things fresh. There were two reasons why Sgt. Slaughter was chosen:

1. Possible tie-in with the GI Joe movie.
2. No celebrity wanted to make the trip to Calgary.

I don't think it will be the end of the guest host simply because when the end comes they will hype it up to the max, I think 1 week they will say that the next host will become the permanent gm, obviously someone within the business. It could be a while before that happens but I do think they will go back to a gm for raw. I personally don't mind the guest host thing but it really doesn't feel like they are really in charge, when people like austin, hbk, hhh, foley ect all had power it felt like THEIR raw, its not really like that here, slaughter could be good though, he knows the wrestlers, knows the fans and simply knows the role of running raw, it will be more believable with him in charge. I agree with the other poster who mentioned the dx/slaughter connection, its the first thing I thot of, but maybe this era's fans are too young to remember all that. I think the guest host thing might go on until survivor series where 2 representatives have a team each fighting it out to be named permanent gm, that could be cool, face or heel gm kinda thing, just an idea but that's how I'd end it.
