Match of the Week

PPV matches or not, the MCMG/Beer Money matches have been the most epic thing I have ever seen. They have buried everything that either TNA has done in the past or anything the WWE has done in the past 5-6 years. I don't care if they drop any storyline around these guys and just have them wrestle every single week in a different type of match. I think I could stay entertained for months

I'm going with Rey Mysterio VS Alberto Del Rio this week. The match was solid, but this was just a great way for Del Rio to debut. He won using a submission. He made one of Smackdown's top guys tap out in the main event. It was very impressive for his first night on the blue brand.Christian VS Drew McIntyre was mediocre, and Dolph VS Kofi ws okay. Vickie's interference was expected, but it didn't matter, because you just knew Dolph wasn't going to lose this.

Out of all of the Nexus' matches on Raw, Wade Barrett VS Chris Jericho was the best. Every other match was just boring, and bland.

Kurt Angle VS Doug Williams was solid, but we all knew Angle was going to win this. Angle is marching toward the TNA World Championship, and he's probably going to end up wearing the strap at Bound For Glory.

Match Of The Week

Generally speaking, it's been something of a mixed batch this week when it comes to matches. Beginning the week off with the 23rd annual SummerSlam, the stand out matches were Kane vs. Rey Mysterio, Sheamus vs. Randy Orton & Team WWE vs. The Nexus. For WWE Raw, the stand outs were Chris Jericho vs. Wade Barrett & John Cena vs. Darren Young. None of the matches on NXT were of particular note and I missed SuperStars again this week. For TNA iMPACT, the stand out matches were Kurt Angle vs. Douglas Williams, Mr. Anderson vs. Jay Lethal & AJ Styles vs. Tommy Dreamer. Finally, for tonight's Smackdown, the stand outs were Dolph Ziggler vs. Kofi Kingston, Christian vs. Drew McIntyre & Rey Mysterio vs. Alberto Del Rio

WWE SummerSlam
Kane vs. Rey Mysterio - I enjoyed the match overall, though I thought it was a little slow at times. I think the lackluster first half of SummerSlam had really taken some of the excitement away from the crowd and me as a viewer. Still, it was a good effort from both men but it had the misfortune of following a lot of mediocre wrestling.

Sheamus vs. Randy Orton - I enjoyed this match a lot. I think Sheamus & Orton work well together and put on a fun match in general. I'm not too wild about the ending and I think the WWE ultimately used way too many cheap endings for their matches this week. Cheap ends in championship matches that people pay $50 bucks to see don't go over all that well. A really good match, but the cheap ending killed its fire.

Team WWE vs. The Nexus - People have been talking about this match all week. I thought it was a helluva match with most members of The Nexus ultimately having a damn good showing for themselves. Daniel Bryan's return as the 7th member of Team WWE was a nice surprise and he looked very strong during the match. Team WWE ultimately won the match around the 36 minute mark, possibly the longest match held this year so far, with Cena eliminated Wade Barrett. While I admit part of me would have like to see The Nexus come out on top, I can understand why they didn't. Some have been pissing and moaning about it all week, but I loved the match overall.

WWE Raw
Chris Jericho vs. Wade Barrett - This was the first match up these two had. Barrett ultimately got the win about the 5.5 minute mark and it was a good match. Barrett looked strong getting a clean win though I would have loved to have seen the match go another 5 or even 10 minutes. Ultimately, I think the match was too short in general, but it was fun nonetheless.

John Cena vs. Darren Young - Nobody expected Darren Young to win this match, but he made a good showing for himself. He gave Cena a pretty good time of it and looked strong throughout. Cena ultimately on at the 8 minute mark with Young tapping out to the STF. Personally, I would have loved for Young to have somehow gotten a win. A quick roll up with hooking Cena's shorts or something, for instance. It would've been the upset of the year. But, it didn't happen. An overall solid match but far too predictable.

TNA iMPACT!
Kurt Angle vs. Douglas Williams - This was easily the best match of the night on TNA iMPACT!. It was a good physical match between the two with Williams looking capable throughout virtually all of it. Angle got the win at the 5 minute mark via the ankle lock. A solid match, but too short and the outcome was far too obvious. If Angle lost, he'd "retire" and that ain't gonna happen.

Mr. Anderson vs. Jay Lethal - Another good, solid match on the card. Nothing overly memorable here and Lethal is really the one that made the match worth watching. Lethal's push seems to have stalled some as Anderson got the win around the 4 minute mark. Solid match for what it was, but far too short and nothing all that special. That's sad in and of itself as the match was part of the TNA World Heavyweight Championship tournament.

AJ Styles vs. Tommy Dreamer - Personally, I didn't care for this match but I included it as it was the iMPACT! main event. Nothing really much to be said about the match really. It was the initial match in the Fortune/EV2.0 feud with Styles getting the win via assistance from Abyss at the 6.5 minute mark. Dreamer bled, I guess maybe that's gonna be his thing in TNA I dunno. Nothing special or memorable about the match.

WWE Smackdown

Dolph Ziggler vs. Kofi Kingston - Ziggler and Kofi work well together and put on another good match tonight for the IC title. Ziggler got DQ'd around the 9 minute mark due to Vickie Guerrero. This makes like the 7th time they've wrestled and while this was a good match, it's getting a little monotonous. WWE needs to throw in some sorf of specialty match in or something. Also, the cheap finish didn't help either. As I mentioned, the WWE has used a lot of cheap finishes this week. I enjoyed the match, but the standard matches between them are starting to get stale.

Christian vs. Drew McIntyre - As per a few weeks ago when these two wrestled, they had a really great match up. They work well together and Christian is actually pretty much capable of having a good match with just about anyone. McIntyre has improved a lot over the past few months and has looked stronger than when he was IC champ. Christian got the win at the 12.5 minute mark and it was just a fun and entertaining match overall.

Rey Mysterio vs. Alberto Del Rio - I wasn't sure what to expect here. Like a lot of people, I don't think I expected much out of Del Rio but the guy impressed me. He has charisma and the guy can actually wrestle really well. He and Mysterio had a great main event match on Smackdown tonight and a lot of preconceptions I had about Del Rio have kinda gone out the window. If tonight wasn't a fluke, then he might be a legitimate star. Del Rio surprised me by getting a clean submission victory over Rey at the 10.5 minute mark. Impressive debut for Del Rio and a very good match up.

Match Of The Week - Team WWE vs. The Nexus - I don't think that there was ever a doubt that this would be MOTW this week. In spite of the complaints you'll hear about the ending, the match overall was excellent and more than lived up to the hype in my opinion. The match generated a lot of buzz and the overall fallout from the match is still being talked about and discussed as the IWC has been talking a lot about what they think is ultimately next for The Nexus. At roughly 36 minutes long, the match gave everyone enough time to shine through. It had a few pleasant surprises, some young guys came out looking like stars and it just clicked with me. Even if the ending spoiled the match for some, the sheer buzz generated is enough for it to be match of the week.

I'll do this in two separate ways.

One I'll count Sundays, and the other I'll count from Monday and onwards.

Sunday is pretty damn easy, it's simple - Team WWE vs The Nexus. Brilliant match, great return for Bryan Danielson, some lovely submission holds and suplexes performed (I love suplexes, Bryan performing the German Suplex made my day). Very back and forth, making both teams look great, while The Nexus suffered their first defeat. Well handled, and definitely worth match of the week.

If we count from Monday and onwards, I would say the winner of this week is probably Christian vs Drew McIntyre, boy do I not get how people can find him boring in the ring when he works with such brilliant people like Matt and Christian. Definitely another great match, that can't be overlooked, they got the time to perform in this one, and they sure as hell delivered.

A honorable mention in both cases would have to be Chris Jericho vs Wade Barrett. I loved this match, however I felt it could've gone longer and had automatically been a match of the week for Monday and onwards. The Codebreaker attempt into the Wasteland finish was awesome.

This week’s match of the week has to be the 7 on 7 Elimination Match from SummerSlam. This one had it all, drama, shock and good booking. The surprise return of Daniel Bryan had most of us up on our feet anyway, but the match itself didn't disappoint. This was a good back & forth contest with decisions that made sense (Miz Attacking DBD etc...) and logical finishes (Otunga Tapping to the Walls of Jericho etc...). Overall a tremendous main event that was without a doubt, PPV quality & the match of the week.

On television this week, we saw a few good matches as well though. Barrett vs. Jericho was an enjoyable 7 minute tussle which saw the right guy go over; clean! On NXT Kaval vs. Husky Harris was a solid encounter while on SmackDown we saw Drew McIntyre take on Christian in an enjoyable match. Overall a solid week of television for the WWE.

I will include Sunday in my week. I felt this was a good week in wrestling on the WWE side. Most of my MOTW candidates are from the promotion this week.

Summerslam: Team WWE vs The Nexus - This was a really great main event for the second biggest PPV of the WWE year. I felt this had all the right elements of anticipation, suprise with DB returning, excitement b/c the crowd was way into the match, and the action definitely didn't disappoint at all with Nexus looking strong and Team WWE held up their end as well. I'm not one of the people that down the ending as I thought it made sense and was greatly executed.

Raw: Chris Jericho vs Wade Barrett - It was quite suprising to see how far Barrett had developed as a single's wrestler since NXT. He had a good match with Jericho even though Jericho is one the top workers in the E; Wade was no slouch in the match at all. The finish of the match was really innovative.

NXT: Kaval vs Husky Harris - For two guys who are polar opposites of each other, they sure can work a match well together. They have the best chemistry of wrestling out of all the rookies on Season 2. I like their series of matches and this was no different and I was glad to see Kaval pick up the win here.

iMPACT: Kurt Angle vs Doug Williams - Sadly this is the only match I can have for TNA as a MOTW candidate for this week. There hardly wasn't any other match that caught my interest besides this one. Even though the time was extremely limited, they showed why their some of the top technical wrestlers in TNA. It was a fun little match considering the time period.

Smackdown: Christian vs Drew McIntyre - These two guys work really well together. I don't get the hate for McIntyre in-ring work b/c to me the guy really knows how to play the heel role well in the ring. If Drew could work on his promo skills a little bit more, then he could be the top heel of SD that Vince envisioned of him last year. I like the ending of the match as you don't see crucifix pins often. I also like the fued going on b/ Christian/Hardy vs McIntyre/Rhodes as it features establish veterans against two of my favorite young stars at the moment and has potential to have some great matches.

Smackdown: Albert Del Rio vs Rey Mysterio - This one caught me by complete suprise as I was apart of the huge group of the IWC who really didn't expect much from Del Rio. He impress in the ring and the way he carried himself in the rich latino character. Del Rio has the making of a great star in the WWE if he works like this every week.

It has to be Nexus v. Team Dubya Dubya E. One of the better PPV matches of the year, no doubt. I gave it a 9/10 on my scale that really has no relevance to anyone but me, so there ya go. Danielson was pretty freaking sick during his time in the match and the ending wasn't nearly as shit as many thought it was.

The second best match of the night was probably Sheamus/Orton, actually, which wasn't actually that good, but the ending made it decent enough.

I didn't really watch much else this week. I'm sure the Angle match was good, but it was only about 2 minutes long, so there ya go.

This was a pretty poor week for wrestling.

WWE/Nexus: This was a great match and really saved this PPV, it had everything from a great surprise to some awesome wrestling.

Barrett/Jericho:/B] Easliy the best match from Raw, Barrett continues to show that he will be a star some day and Jericho jobs clean (which is more than you can say for Orton and Edge)

Angle/Williams: This was a good match as you would exxpect from these two but I have two problems with it, it was too short and the result was nevver in doubt, add 10 mins and take away the retierment stip and this is a great match.

Rey/Del Rio: This way a very good match and Del Rio really impressed me, I wasnt expecting much with the vingettes but I realy liked what I saw, obviously the WWE are high on him as he beat Rey by submission in his first match.

Overall: WWE/Nexus gets itt for this week by a pretty wide margin nothing else really comes close to it.

Barret vs Jericho was a great match. Because of the 'whoever in the nexus lsoes tonight will be exiled from the group" factor, you felt that if a very capable Chris Jericho defeated the leader of the nexus, that the whole nexus group would just collapse. I think that the match was alright technically, but the fact that Barrett COULD have lost and that COULD have changed everything in RAW pretty much, made the match that little bit more exciting!

Match Of The Week

Overall, a decent week though not the best offerings in terms of matches. From Raw, the stand out matches I thought were John Cena vs. The Miz and Randy Orton vs. John Morrison vs. Ted DiBiase. An offering from WWE NXT made it in this week with Dashing Cody Rhodes vs. MVP. WWE Superstars offered up three quality matches with William Regal vs. Goldust, Vance Archer & Curt Hawkins vs. The Dudebusters and Drew McIntyre vs. Chris Masters. From TNA iMPACT!, the stand outs were The Motor City Machineguns vs. Generation Me and Fortune vs. Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy, D'Angelo Dinero & Mr. Anderson. From Smackdown tonight, the stand outs were Kane vs. Rey Mysterio and Kofi Kingston vs. Dolph Ziggler.

WWE Raw

John Cena vs. The Miz - I enjoyed this match a lot and don't think The Miz has looked stronger. It's a far cry from the matches these two had last year. Very good back and forth action with The Miz looking every bit a main event contender. The Miz wins via DQ at the 13 minute mark due to Daniel Bryan's interference. The purpose was to make The Miz look great and add fuel to The Miz/Bryan situation, so mission accomplished.

Randy Orton vs. John Morrison vs. Ted DiBiase - I gave this match a Thumbs Down in my review of Raw. The action overall was solid, but Orton came off looking like SuperOrton in this outing. I just got the sense during the match that he could've ended it at anytime. The match needed at least another 5 minutes to keep DiBiase & Morrison from looking like fodder.

WWE NXT

Dashing Cody Rhodes vs. MVP - This wasn't a great match, but it was a pretty good effort and probably the best match I've seen out of MVP in a long time. What surprised me the most is that this match was almost 25 minutes long. Cody Rhodes got the clean win and he's impressed me a lot over the past several weeks. The match was designed to eat up a lot of air time on NXT as there are only 3 Rookies left and a lot of the roster was off touring the Orient. Overall, a pretty good match.

WWE Superstars

William Regal vs. Goldust - Basically, this was a quality match by two quality workers. It's always nice to see guys like Regal and Goldust get time to actually be used well in matches. Regal gets the win at the 10.5 minute mark. Hardly a classic, but a quality match all the same.

Vance Archer & Curt Hawkins vs. The Dudebusters - This was also a good match for what it was. While it was on the short side at only 5 minutes, these are two good tag teams with 4 guys that can honestly wrestle. The Dudebusters do remind me some of the MCMGs and I think the WWE could make some money with these teams if they decide to get the tag team division back on track. I was a little surprised to see the DBs get the win, but it was good for what it was.

Drew McIntyre vs. Chris Masters - I was surprised by how much I liked this match. Masters & McIntyre put on a really good 15 minute match I thought. I like that McIntyre goes after parts of the body in the matches and keeps working on them. Very much an Anderson feel about that and the commentators mentioned that a few times. Chris Masters is somebody that I think could be a really good presence in the mid-card and has improved significantly overall. McIntyre got the win after a good physical match.

TNA iMPACT

Motor City Machine Guns vs. Generation Me - This was a fun, very quick paced match that saw both teams hit a lot of their signature spots. The match was a spotfest, but it was fun for what it was. The Guns picked up the win about the 6 minute mark.

Fortune vs. Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy, D'Angelo Dinero & Mr. Anderson - I gave this match a Thumbs Down in my review of iMPACT! as it came off as little more than your average overly booked clusterfuck of an iMPACT! main event. It was a little on the short side at only about 8 minutes and saw Fortune lose. Fortune should've won this match in my opinion as they definitely needed it. They were supposed to be the cohesive group and they simply don't look like a serious faction when they lose so much of the time.

WWE Smackdown

Kane vs. Rey Mysterio - I thought this was an overall solid effort from these two. It was a no DQ match with Kane ultimately getting the win at the 9.5 minute mark. It was a pretty good match, though nothing overly memorable. The post match beatdown of Rey at the hands of Alberto Del Rio was the best part of the entire segment. A good match, but something we've seel a lot of from these two.

Kofi Kingston vs. Dolph Ziggler - I enjoyed this match much more than I have the past few bouts they've had. It had some really good back and forth action, though I believe that the WWE has booked far too many of these matches too close together. This makes about the 3rd or 4th week in a row we've had a Kofi/Ziggler match. Kofi got the win via DQ around the 15 minute mark. All in all, a fun match but there've been so many that they're really losing steam. This feud really needs a gimmick match tossed in.

Match Of The Week - John Cena vs. The Miz - For me, this was the most overall enjoyable match on tv this week. Cena and The Miz has a great outing on Raw, the crowd was into it and a lot was accomplished during the match. The Miz looked like a completely different guy from the one feuding with Cena last year and definitely belongs in the main event. Cena played his part well and I liked the ending as both men looked strong overall. Daniel Bryan's interference didn't make The Miz or Cena look weak and I'm expecting The Miz vs. Daniel Bryan for the United States Championship to be announced on Raw for Night Of Champions.

Not a lot of great things to choose from of wrestling this week. However there's two or three matches that stands out to me really.

John Cena vs The Miz: Pretty decent showing by the two, they could definitely tear the house down at a major Pay Per View if ever given the chance to do it. And hell I would love to watch it. The Miz going up against John is great for his push, and this match made Miz look good, while loosing. Definitely worthy of a MOTW candidate.

Kane vs Rey Mysterio: I enjoyed this match, once again Kane got the chance to look dominant, and it's good that he gets to go over Rey Mysterio for once. For a no disqualification match it however wasn't really enough. There were definitely a lot more to be desired in terms of actually taking advantage of the no disqualification thing. But then again, what can you expect from a televised match? Would probably have been greater on Pay Per View.

Kofi Kingston vs Dolph Ziggler: I think the count-out hurt this one. Definitely was a great match though, and I can imagine it collides in something like Dolph loosing his belt if he doesn't retain cleanly. Definitely a decent showing by the two nonetheless, both pretty much always delivers, and this match shows it.

My choice for this week would also have to be John Cena vs The Miz. Just because of the fact that it showed great potential for The Miz, as well as it was a very interesting back and forth match that had both guys looking great. Like I said, they could definitely tear the house down if given a Pay Per View to perform on, and about 5-10 extra minutes.

If you were expecting a controversial change, then you were wrong as I too thought that the match of the week was John Cena vs. The Miz. It was a solid outing between two good talents. Miz came off looking strong after periods of dominance (what a difference one year makes) and the Daniel Bryan interference was pretty decent booking. It gave the Miz a win, made Cena look pretty strong and Bryan looked great with four refs trying to pull him off of Miz.

Special mentions this week go to McIntyre vs. Masters from Superstars, which was a good outing from these two. NXT's one and only match was, while not great, an entertaining match and it was nice to see these two guys get a LOT of time in this day & age.

Yea, going with Cena Vs Miz, turly a very damn good match, especially for TV. Nothing else this week was especially impressive, besides Ziggler Vs Kofi on friday, which had somewhat of a shit ending. Lots of time and back and forth given to Mizery and Cena.

Weak week of wrestling, that's for sure. MCMG/Generation Me would usually do it for me, but it just seemed a little off this time. Something was just missing there, perhaps it was the ponytails.

I suppose I'll have to go with Cena/Miz as well. Your typical solid Cena on Raw match with a little bit of Daniel Bryan thrown in. That'll always work.

Quite afew good matches worthy of a mention this week.

Cena/Miz: This was a very good match which proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that Miz is more that ready to hang with the big boys.

Rhodes/MVP: While this wasn't the best match ever it got a heap of time and it wasnt too bad, very old school style match though. MVP and Rhodes arent really the two people I want to see go 25 mins.

MCMG/Gen Me: Very fast paced and entertaining match as you would expect from these two teams it was a bit short though, still very good while it lasted.

Ziggler/Kofi: While this was the usual good match from these two there were two problems with it, firstly and most importantly we have seen this exact same match for the past five or so weeks, it isnt that interesting anymore secondly I didnt exactly care for the ending.

Overall: Cena/Miz gets it this week really good match that proved that Miz is more than ready to main event.

Match Of The Week

Overall, this week was pretty lackluster as far as matches go. On Raw, the only two matches worth anything really were Daniel Bryan & Kaval vs. Kofi Kingston & Michael McGuillicutty vs. The Miz & Alex Riley in a triple threat tag team match and a 5 on 5 elimination tag match featuring The Nexus vs. Team WWE. NXT featured only one match, a triple threat match between the NXT Rookies Kaval, Alex Riley & Michael McGuillicutty. WWE Superstars featured two good matches with Ted DiBiase vs. Goldust and Kofi Kingston vs. Chavo Guerrero. The offering from TNA iMPACT consists of a 4 on 4 elimination tag match featuring Fortune vs. EV2.0 and Kurt Angle & Jeff Hardy vs. D'Angelo Dinero & Mr. Anderson. From Smackdown last night, the stand out matches were Christian vs. Drew McIntyre, CM Punk & Luke Gallows vs. The Big Show and Dashing Cody Rhodes vs. Matt Hardy.

WWE Monday Night Raw

Daniel Bryan & Kaval vs. Kofi Kingston & Michael McGuillicutty vs. The Miz & Alex Riley - This was a short match but it was a fun match while it lasted. It gave the NXT Rookies a chance to get some further exposure on Raw and to hype the season finale of NXT the following night. The match only lasted about 3-3.5 minutes, but it was good while it lasted. Kaval looked strong during the match and was taken out by The Miz from behind with the SCF. Good little match, but far too short to be a serious contender.

The Nexus vs. Team WWE - Pretty good outing here though I would have personally liked to have seen it go about 10 minutes longer. The members of The Nexus looked strong overall and ultimately won the match and they needed to win it as it helped them regain some momentum and it maintained the relevance of their attack on The Undertaker earlier in the night. Heath Slater eliminated Sheamus, Justin Gabriel eliminated John Cena & Wade Barrett eliminated Randy Orton all cleanly so that was a nice little boost overall. I wasn't wild about the overall ending with everyone left just hitting their finishers right after the other, but it was a fun match.

WWE NXT

Kaval vs. Michael McGuillicutty vs. Alex Riley - This was a really good triple threat match from the NXT Rookies. I was hoping it'd go 20 minutes + like the Cody Rhodes/MVP match on the previous episode, but it went about 10 minutes and all the Rookies were featured well in the match. Kaval all but having the match won only to have Riley "steal" the victory was a nice way to end the match. Overall, the match was fun and it did what it set out to do.

WWE Superstars

Ted DiBiase vs. Goldust - A good back and forth effort in this match. In terms of physical conditioning and overall in-ring ability, I honestly think that Goldust is better now than he was during the peak of his WWE career in the mid 90s. DiBiase had a strong outing against the veteran and got the clean pinfall with Dream Street around the 10 minute mark. Maryse looked stunning as usual and gave DiBiase a soft, sulty liplock following the match.

Kofi Kingston vs. Chavo Guerrero - I really enjoyed this match and these two worked well together. During the match, both of them suffered "knee injuries" that they used to tell a good story. Both wrestlers sold the knee injuries quite well and it added some good psychology to the match. I had no doubt that Kofi Kingston would win and I honestly do think that it's a shame that the WWE has wasted Chavo Guerrero so much. He's a high quality in-ring wrestler. Kofi gets the pinfall about the 14 minute mark. Predictable that he'd win, but a fun match just the same.

TNA iMPACT!

Fortune vs. EV2.0 - This was a pretty good elimination tag match between these two teams. I still have little to no interest in this feud, but the two factions gave an overall solid match. The match was also used to add a little bit of hype to the Sabu/Williams and Styles/Dreamer matches at No Surrender. I wasn't all that crazy about the SuperDreamer moment we saw in the match where he single handely eliminated Beer Money within scant seconds of each other or that Styles looked as though he needed help to get the win over Dreamer. Still, Styles did get the pinfall around the 18 minute mark. Fortune needed to win this match as they've been floundering when it comes to being seen as a dominant faction since their members have lost so many matches overall since they were formed.

Kurt Angle & Jeff Hardy vs. D'Angelo Dinero & Mr. Anderson - I gave this match a thumbs down in my review of iMPACT! and just thought it was rather lackluster in general. I know the purpose of this match was to hype the semi-final match ups in the title tournament each of these partners will have at No Surrender, but it just felt flat. It shouldn't have been the main event as it didn't compare to the Fortune/EV2.0 match. I'd say that the Angle/Hardy & Pope/Anderson matches will be good, but this tag match just didn't adequately hype the importance of their matches at the ppv.

WWE Friday Night Smackdown

Christian vs. Drew McIntyre - A solid effort from these two. They work well together and have had great matches with each other before. The match was short and Christian got the win at around 5 minutes, but it was a quality 5 minutes. Still, it didn't equal their past match ups.

CM Punk & Luke Gallows vs. The Big Show - Again, I thought this was a solid match overall though it wasn't anything overly special. Show forced Gallows to submit at the 10 minute mark and I wasn't surprised. Show wins a lot of handicap matches and it didn't do much good for Punk to be on the losing end here. Punk laid Gallows out with the GTS after the match, so the SES is pretty much dead I suppose. A solid match, but nothing great.

Dashing Cody Rhodes vs. Matt Hardy - As with the other two matches from Smackdown, this was a really solid effort between these two. Cody Rhodes has impressed me over the course of the past several weeks and he looked strong here. Hardy's injured ankle coming into play told a nice story and continued the injury angle that they've used with him in recent weeks. Rhodes got the clean pinfall at the 8 minute mark.

Match Of The Week - The Nexus vs. Team WWE - There really weren't any fantastic matches offered up this week but, overall, I think I enjoyed this one the most. The Nexus needed a win and got the win, cleanly in fact, with several WWE main eventers being pinned. The match was fun overall, it wasn't spectacular, but the right people won and The Nexus regained some momentum. Some have been down on them since losing at SummerSlam and with Skip Sheffield out for 6 months with a broken ankle, The Nexus rebounded against a team of WWE main eventers on Raw, looked like a cohesive unit and got the win. Their win over Team WWE was also useful in maintaining the group's validation following the beatdown of The Undertaker. Losing the match would've made that beatdown meaningless. I can understand if people thought that the Fortune/EV2.0 match on iMPACT! should be MOTW but the reason I didn't choose it is because I personally don't really care about that feud. There's no one on EV2.0 I even remotely care about seeing and I think Fortune is so far out of their league in terms of both talent and relevance that I'm just not interested. It'd be like watching a feud between Barry Horrowitz and Chris Jericho.

I'm going with Daniel Byran & Kaval VS Kofi Kingston & Michael McGuillicutty VS The Miz & Alex Riley from Raw. It was kind of short, but the match had a nice pace to it, and Kaval looked awesome here. I just couldn't get into Nexus VS Team WWE. I felt like I was watching Summerslam again. The match it self was kind of boring to me. Smackdown didn't have anything that stood out either. Christian VS McIntyre was solid, and watching The Big Show dominate the Straight Edge Society is starting to get old. Plus, the match just wasn't that good, and I just can't get over that terrible shoulder block between Gallows and Show.

I was enjoying the Kurt Angle & Jeff Hardy VS Pope & Mr.Anderson match, but this just broke down into one huge brawl at the end. Also, for a match that was supposed to hype the PPV this Sunday, this just felt very bland to me. Although, I did enjoy the Fortune VS EV2.0 match. Fortune needs some momentum, and they got it here.

Not sure really. Didn't watch Impact due to Foozball on Thursday, but it doesn't sound like there was anything that breath taking, other than the great MCMG/London Brawling promo I saw.

Anyway, I'd go with the triple threat from NXT as the match of the week. Highlight of an otherwise mess of a show. The ending was a little odd with McGillicutty being knockout out for forever after the kick, but overall, good stuff.

Not a very good week for wrestling this week.

Nexus/Team WWE: This was a decent match up until the ending with about 5 people eliminated in 30 seconds, I understand that they didn't want to go too far overtime but couldn't they have either asked for 2 hours 30 for the show or cut out some of the filler ie the tag match or Swagger/Bourne and given their time to this match. Atleast the right team won though and the Nexus got to beat Raw's five top guys.

Riley/Kaval/Mcgillicutty: I really enjoyed this match, Kaval looked awesome in the ring and the other two both looked good, really good match.

Fortune/EV2.0: I actually quite enjoyed this match it got good time, the ring work was decent, the eliminations were well spaced out, the right team won and it advanced the story with not only EV2/Fortune but Abyss/Rhyno and Williams/Sabu. At the end of the day what more can you ask from a match?

Christian/Drew: Typical good outing from these two but it was a bit short, more time and this probably would have been MOTW.

Hardy/Cody: Truth be told the best part of this was probably the promo from Cody, this is basically the same as above typical good match from these two but it needed more time.

Overall: Fortune/EV2.0 gets it this week, as I said that match basically had everything that you could ask of it.

Match Of The Week

No offerings from TNA iMPACT! this week as it was pre-empted this week. I didn't order the No Surrender ppv and I've little doubt that Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Hardy was a helluva match. I'd not argue with anyone that gave this MOTW, but since I didn't see No Surrender, then I can't really fairly count it. The WWE overall I think improved and got back closer to normal in terms of match quality this week while the past few in general have been fairly lackluster. From Raw, the stand out matches were John Morrison vs. Chris Jericho, John Cena vs. Justin Gabriel & Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett. From WWE Superstars, the stand outs were R-Truth vs. William Regal, Goldust & Gail Kim vs. Primo & Jillian Hall and Curt Hawkins & Vance Archer vs. The Dudebusters. From Smackdown earlier tonight, the stand outs consist of Jack Swagger vs. MVP, Matt Hardy vs. Alberto Del Rio, Drew McIntyre vs. Kaval and The Undertaker vs. CM Punk.

WWE Monday Night Raw

John Morrison vs. Chris Jericho - A really good tv match from Morrison and Jericho. If Jericho lost the match, he was out of the main event at Night of Champions so I thought there was no way he was going to lose. Both worked well together and there were a few minor slow spots, but it was an overall quality match with John Morrison getting the upset at the 10 minute mark. I wasn't expecting Morrison to win so this ultimately leaves Jericho's fate and the future of the main event at NOC a bit up in the air.

John Cena vs. Justin Gabriel - This was a solid match, though nothing particularly earthshattering. Given what happened between Morrison & Jericho, I admit there was a tiny part of me that was holding out hope for the upset of the decade. Gabriel looked strong and capable against Cena. Gabriel needed a match to show that he can ultimately do more than just do the 450 Splash and this match did that. Cena pulls out a victory around the 7 minute mark, expectedly, but the match ultimately did what it was supposed to do. Cena wins but Gabriel ultimately looks pretty good during the match.

Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett - As with Cena/Gabriel, this was a solid overall match that generally made Wade Barrett look like a strong and capable opponent. I'd have liked to have seen a longer match in general, but what we saw was Barrett look like he could be a main event player. Orton gets the win via an RKO but with Darren Young coming out and distracting Barrett while he's in control of the match, Barrett's loss didn't really cause his stock to go down. It wasn't blatant interference, as it would have made Orton look kinda weak, but it was just enough.

WWE Superstars

R-Truth vs. William Regal - A solid performance overall, though the highlight of the match was Regal trying to rap before the match took place. I gotta pretty good chuckle out of it. The match in and of itself was pretty good, nothing spectacular, but good overall. Truth scored the win around the 10 minute mark. A good match, but it was ultimately just a throwaway.

Goldust & Gail Kim vs. Primo & Jillian Hall - Quality mixed tag team match here. Gail Kim & Jillian Hall are two Divas that can actually wrestle and they work really well together. In terms of his in-ring ability and conditioning, Goldust is better now than he was during his WWF/WWE career peak in the mid 90s. A fun match overall with Goldust getting the win around the 10 minute mark.

WWE Friday Night Smackdown

Jack Swagger vs. MVP - Pretty good match between these two overall. Overall, the feud between these two has been pretty lackluster but this was a fun match. Swagger ultimately got the win via the ankle lock around the 8.25 minute mark. MVP I think has improved, at least in my eyes, and doesn't seem as clodding as he used to be. A good match, though the lackluster interaction with them in past weeks couldn't all be fixed with one good match.

Matt Hardy vs. Alberto Del Rio - I enjoyed this match a lot. Alberto Del Rio continues to impress me with each passing week and he looked strong in his match against Matt Hardy. Hardy was a little slow during the match in a few spots, but he played his part in the match well. Del Rio scores the win via submission around the 11.15 minute mark. I like that they really haven't just been shoving Del Rio down our throats since he's been on televison. He comes out, does his thing and it's quality. Fun match here.

Drew McIntyre vs. Kaval - This was a very good "first real match" for Kaval as a member of the Smackdown roster. The match was a little short at about 4 minutes, but it was a good quality 4 minutes. Kaval looked strong during the match and showed some of the reasons why he won the second season of NXT. McIntyre ultimately got the win at the 4 minute mark, but Kaval did look strong and the right call was for him to lose here. They don't seem to be rushing into a push with Kaval and I kinda like that. This match was ultimately too short for MOTW, but it was fun while it lasted.

The Undertaker vs. CM Punk - This was Taker's return to the ring and I thought it was a high quality match. The match told a great story with both Punk and Taker playing their parts very well. Taker being "weaker" than ever in his career is one of the aspects making his feud with Kane interesting and this match moved that along very well. Taker looked good enough in the ring tonight, he looked as good as he was supposed to. Taker gets the win via submission with Hell's Gate a little past the 14 minute mark.

Match Of The Week - The Undertaker vs. CM Punk - I enjoyed this match quite a bit. It was a well worked match that told a great story and further hyped the NOC match between Kane & The Undertaker. Taker looked "subpar" physically during the match but that's exactly how he was supposed to look. In the storyline, Taker is still suffering the after effects of being in a vegetative state. He does look physically weaker and probably is overall as I've read he's only been recently cleared to start working out in the gym again. Really good match and a great return for Taker.

This week featured shit loads of firm wrestling on both Smackdown and RAW. Especially RAW which truly delivered in terms of matches this week.

John Cena vs Justin Gabriel is definitely the one that stands out to me in my memory though. John always gets good matches out of guys, and Justin certainly didn't seem like the guy that needed any help to get a good match, so it only made for it to be much better like that. Some firm moves from Justin, showcasing that he's not just a high flying one trick pony, as well as John Cena shows he can have a good match with even the smaller guys.

The Undertaker vs CM Punk was definitely not a match to discredit either. It was very back and forth, and CM Punk looked good, while proving to the world that Undertaker can still bring and perform good matches.

I'm torn between the two of them. However I would most likely lean to John Cena vs Justin Gabriel. Mostly because of Justin truly impressing me in the ring, he truly showed that he can perform with even the bigger guys. Also I liked to see that Justin, for being a high flyer of sorts actually delivered a suplex. Caught me a bit off guard.

The opener of No Surrender pleased me greatly. I probably liked it more than I should have, but I think it was just as good or better than any of their previous matches, talking about the Motor City Machineguns and Generation me of course. Despite me being slightly disappointed I didn't get the debut of London Brawling, I was more than happpy with replacement, especially with the whole heelish stuff afterwards. It made sense.

Hardy/Angle would've won if they didn't overbook the hell out of it, I suppose. Nothing great on free TV this week, at least not better than the other 2 matches I mentioned.

I'd say this was a very average week in terms of the TV Matches, none really caught my eye except for Jericho-Morrison on SD. These guys had a lot of potential for creating a great match, and while they weren't going for a high spot every three seconds I thought they did a very good job in putting together a television match to keep the crowd going. Jericho had his moments where he looked strong and yet had no problem selling for Morrison either; this was a nice little give-and-take match that saw both guys look good. Jericho lost to put Morrison over and to lose his spot at NOC; it makes one wonder if he's putting someone over on his way out, or if he's just putting someone over and advancing his own character into a potential face turn. Either way, it was good stuff here and I had few complaints.

Wow, what an improvment from last week. This was infact a really good week for wrestling.

Chris Jericho/JoMo: This was a very good match from two people who are very good between the ropes, it really needed a bit more time to be a true contender but a very good match all the same.

Cena/Gabriel: This was also a very good match which did it's god, show Gabriel as more than a one trick pony and it did that perfectly. The super AA was pretty cool aswell.

Orton/Barrett: This was another solid TV match but it needed much more time, it was also a bit boring in parts as I really can't remember much about this match.

Drew/Kaval: This was a really good debut match from Kaval which really showcased what he could do, the match was a bit short but was extremely entertaining considering the time given. The bump at the end was fucking sick and I thought Kaval was out. I have one complaint about Kaval though, he really needs to do more than just kicks, it seemed that every move he did in the match was some variation of a kick.

Punk/Taker: This was a long match from these two, Taker looked a bit rusty but for the most part he looked good, Punk looked as awesome as ever. I dont really have anything to say about this it was a solid match with noting really to complain about.

Overall: Im gonna give it to Kaval/Drew this week, the match may have been short but they packed a lot into the time they were given and put on an extremely entertaining match.

Tough week this week. On the TNA side of things, I did watch the Angle vs. Hardy match, and while I did enjoy it (arguably Hardy's best non gimmick match in years), the overbooking kind of took away from it in the end. Excellent contest though and definitely hard to top.

On Raw we got three solid matches with Morrison vs. Jericho, Gabriel vs. Cena & Barrett vs. Orton. They were all very solid and I enjoyed each of them. The best of the night though was probably the Morrison vs. Jericho match. i felt it flowed nicely and these have decent chemistry together.

I skipped NXT this week but I should be watching it sometime in the next few days. As for SmackDown, another decent edition. McIntyre vs. Kaval was a very enjoyable 4 minute scuffle and the booking was solid. More from these two in the future would be welcome

Hardy vs. Del Rio was another solid affair but the match of the night has to be Undertaker vs. CM Punk. The purpose of the match was to give Punk time to look good, whilst giving Taker the win, and that’s exactly what it did. This was a very entertaining match and WWE's best match of the week.

However, my match of the week this week goes to TNA: Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Hardy at No Surrender
