Match of the Week

If we're counting Sunday then I will have to go with the RAW money in the Bank. It was pretty good. Had me on the edge of my seat the whole time trying to figure out who would take home the briefcase. I marked out for Miz getting it, mostly because I did not expect it over some of the main event talent.

If we're not counting Sunday, then the choice falls on the RAW triple threat. It was awesome. All 3 could've qualified for Summerslam, or well no they couldn't, 2 heels. Oh well, it was still great. Some decent wrestling, as well as a very back and forth showing. I loved the consecutive RKO's right after each other.

Honorable mentions is of course Kofi vs Ziggler, decent showing as well. But it didn't really do that much to me. Same goes for Rey vs Jack Swagger.

Over the course of this week, there've been several stand out matches. If I'm not mistaken, ppv events are usually counted as well here so I'm gonna count the MITB ppv.

At MITB, you have the Smackdown & Raw MITB matches, Rey Mysterio vs. Jack Swagger for the WHC and Sheamus vs. John Cena for the WWE Championship as the standout matches for the show. On Raw, you had Randy Orton vs. Edge vs. Chris Jericho in a #1 contender match and Sheamus vs. Evan Bourne. For iMPACT!, the stand out matches were Jeff Hardy vs. Samoa Joe and the MCMGs vs. Beer Money in a street fight. On Superstars, you had The Uso Brothers vs. The Hart Dynasty. Smackdown, you had Christian & Matt Hardy vs. Drew McIntyre & Cody Rhodes, Kofi Kingston vs. Dolph Ziggler & Rey Mysterio vs. Jack Swagger in a 2 out of 3 falls match to determine the #1 contender for the WHC.

The MITB matches at the MITB ppv were, obviously, the overall center point of the show. Both Raw and Smackdown put forth two excellent MITB matches, one of which saw a long time favorite win for Smackdown, namely Kane, and The Miz won for Raw, which all but guarantees he'll be WWE Champion some day. Rey Mysterio & Jack Swagger work very well together and put on a quality world title match and, though some people are disappointed in Sheamus/Cena, I enjoyed it overall. But, those two matches were overshadowed by the MITB matches, and rightfully so in my view.

Raw started off big Monday night with Orton, Jericho & Edge in a great 15 minute, ppv quality match. These are three guys that also work extremey well together and the match had true significance. The downside is that I the outcome wasn't in dobut really. I figured that the egos of Edge & Jericho would get in the way and cost them the match. Even though it didn't exactly turn out to be the case, Orton still got the win. Sheamus & Evan Bourne also put on a great match. Bourne looked very strong and looked very credible against Sheamus. However, the outcome of the match was never in doubt as Sheamus was going to win, but Evan Bourne continues to look like a star.

For TNA iMPACT, I think the best match was Jeff Hardy vs. Samoa Joe. It was the first time these two met in a match and it was a solid, quality match. However, TNA treated the match as if it was virtually nothing. They put a phone call from Eric Bischoff in the match, they spend the night hyping the ECW Originals. Basically, this potentially important match was shoved aside for ECW. The MCMGs & Beer Money match, the second one of the best of 5 series, was a street fight. There were some cool spots and all but, in my review of iMPACT! this week, I gave this match a thumbs down because it was too short and it also didn't have that big match feel to it that their ladder match had last week. Six minute street fights just don't leave that lasting feeling for me.

On Superstars, The Hart Dynasy & The Usos had a quality 10 minute tag team match against each other. It was a good match, both teams looked strong but it took place on Superstars. Superstars, while often having some good wrestling on it, is typically a throwaway show. This match didn't feel particularly important even though it was much better than the match they had at the MITB ppv.

Christian & Matt Hardy vs. Drew McIntyre & Cody Rhodes was a quality tag match. All four of the wrestlers worked hard and put on an entertaining match. At the end of the day, however, the match really wasn't very significant in and of itself. It was basically just a good way to spend 13 or 14 minutes of your time. Kofi Kingston & Dolph Ziggler was also a damn fine match. It told a great story and it had some signifigance I think. Ziggler won the match, so he's probably the #1 contender for the IC title at this point. Lastly, Rey Mysterio & Jack Swagger in a #1 contender match for the WHC in a 2 out of 3 falls match. These two always work very well together. The match went on for about 20 minutes with Rey getting the win and it was better than their match at MITB. It also felt significant in the sense that whoever won would face Kane at SummerSlam. The downside here was that the outcome wasn't really in doubt because, given the way Kane won the WHC at MITB, of course Mysterio is the logical choice to go up against him.

Overall, I have to declare the match of the week, in my opinion, to be the Raw MITB match at the ppv. I thought that it was the overall better of the two MITB matches and The Miz winning it was just the icing on the cake. The Miz is a great talent, he's paid his dues and he honestly deserved to win. I think the runner up goes to Mysterio & Swagger from last night's Smackdown. It's rare to see a two out of three fall match and this was definitely high quality. I honestly wouldn't mind if the WWE sometimes were to do a best of series between wrestlers sometime. But, in any event, that's my take on match of the week.

Sunday does count, which makes the match of the week quite easy for me. In reality, it wasn't much of a match at all. Short, sweet, and to the point though. Of course I'm talking about Kane v. Mysterio for the Title. It may not have been more than a MITB cash-in, but those are the best types of matches, in my opinion. And it was Rey losing, which is always great to see.

The triple threat on Raw wasn't bad either. RKO, sucka. R. K. O.

I'd say that the match of the week would have to go to Swagger-Mysterio from MITB, it was exactly what we expected, great counters, Swagger dominating, and then Mysterio FINALLY beating someone in a dirty fashion, the best part was when Mysterio payed for his "sins" after the match and lost the WHC, and that DDT off the top rope wasn't too bad either. I felt their rematch on SD was pretty bland and had a predictable ending, but I did like how Swagger was able to make Mysterio tap out.

My match of the week would also have to be Kane vs The masked midget that is Rey Mysterio. For one sole reason we finally got to see Kane win a world title again and get a well deserved push and it was off Rey Rey. :)

SD! MiTB and the Triple Threat came in as Close seconds. Well I'm here Sheamus vs Cena was the worst and most boring steel cage match 'I've ever saw.

Match Of The Week

As seems to be usual, there were several stand out matches on television this week. On Raw, the matches were the seven man elimination tag team match between The Nexus & Team Raw and the tag team main event featuring John Cena & Chris Jericho vs. Sheamus & The Miz. For TNA iMPACT, the stand out matches were the cage match in the best of five series between the Motor City Machine Guns & Beer Money, Inc. and the hardcore match with Tommy Dreamer vs. Abyss. On WWE Superstars this week, the stand out match was MVP vs. Chavo Guerrero. Lastly, for Smackdown this week, the stand out matches were Christian vs. Drew McIntyre, Kofi Kingston vs. Dolph Ziggler and Rey Mysterio vs. Jack Swagger.

The Nexus vs. Team Raw - The seven man elimination tag match was pretty good. Most of the wrestlers comprising Raw's team could definitely be considered the "B-Team" I suppose and the match in and of itself was designed mostly to show The Nexus as a strong, functional and cohesive unit. It wasn't the match of the week, however as the outcome was never remotely in doubt and the competition for The Nexus didn't include the A-Team of Raw. Understandable as they're saving most of those guys for the match at SummerSlam.

John Cena & Chris Jericho vs. Sheamus & The Miz - I thought this was a fun and entertaining tag team match that told a couple of good stories. Cena & Jericho, while on the same team at SummerSlam, struggle to put their personal dislike for each other aside and that was the common theme of Raw Monday night. Sheamus & The Miz had the same difficulty, though for different reasons as The Miz has been opportunistically looking for the means of cashing in his MITB briefcase to take Sheamus' WWE Championship. Overall, a good match between the two teams that I thought would wind up ending in a no contest due to both teams breaking down and fighting with one another. I liked the ending as The Miz scored the pinfall on John Cena due to Jericho turning on Cena and hitting him with the Codebreaker. From a kayfabe perspective, The Miz scored a pinfall victory over the top face in the WWE so that does make him look good.

Motor City Machine Guns vs. Beer Money, Inc. - This was a fast paced, hot cage match between these two teams. Some good tag team moves were pulled off along with a few nice high spots that made use of the cage. This was the third match in the best of five series between these two and I thought it was a much better effort overall than the street fight the two had last week. I do believe that there were a couple of snags during the match, however. Lasting a little more than 8 minutes, the match was a tad on the short side for a cage match. If there's been any real flaw in this series overall thus far, it's that the matches have all been on the short side. The other snag is that the outcome of this match wasn't remotely in doubt. The Guns had to win this in order to keep the series going and thus remain the TNA World Tag Team Champions, which meant that you had a better chance of winning a $250 million Powerball jackpot and getting struck by lightning on the same day than the Guns had of losing this match.

Tommy Dreamer vs. Abyss - In my review of Thursday's iMPACT!, I gave this match a thumbs down. I listed it here as it was one of the stand out matches of the week. This was very much a watered down hardcore match and was certainly not what we were lead to believe it would be. With the presence of the ECW originals and all the nostalgic love surrounding the upcoming ECW themed Hardcore Justice, I think most people were expecting this to be along the same vein as an old school ECW brawl. It wasn't that at all. The match was slow, plodding and just extremely watered down.

MVP vs. Chavo Guerrero - This was a surprisingly good effort on the part of these two. The match made it to the 15 minute mark, which was somewhat surprising since they had these two wrestle on Smackdown not long back and it was little more than a 2 or 3 minute snoozefest. There was some good back and forth action between these two and it didn't seem to have the slow, plodding pace that a lot of MVP's matches have. It was slow in some spots and it did take place on Superstars. Superstars is the throwaway show of the WWE, Superstars often does have one really good match on it each week. As a result, I think it deserves mentioning.

Christian vs. Drew McIntyre - This was the opening match on Smackdown last night. They had a really good match and they work very well together. I think that what hurts this match is that did didn't really have a special feel about it. It was an entertaining match but it didn't really have that big match feel about it.

Kofi Kingston vs. Dolph Ziggler - As with McIntyre and Christian, Kofi and Ziggler work really well together and put on another entertaining match. Both wrestlers looked strong and Ziggler did get the victory. As with last week, Ziggler won due to some minor outside interference via Vickie Guerrero, but the interference wasn't blatant and didn't make Ziggler look weak. Kofi losing control after being slapped and just pounding on Ziggler until he got DQ'd showed a fire in Kofi that I think's been missing. Later, it was announced that Kofi will face Ziggler next week on Smackdown for the IC title, so it made this match have some real signifigance.

Rey Mysterio vs. Jack Swagger - This was a no DQ match between Swagger and Mysterio and it continued the streak of really good matches they've had with each other. Swagger looked very strong and aggressive during the match and I was really surprised that they took the match outside the arena and down by the waterside. It's a nice little novelty that we don't see very often on any wrestling show and it gave this match something of a different feel to it. I liked the no contest ending via Kane's interference as neither Mysterio or Swagger lost any steam as a result.

Match Of The Week - Rey Mysterio vs. Jack Swagger - What really made this match stand out was the fact that it went all over the place, including outside of the arena and down by the water. Why? Because we don't see it very often on any wrestling show from any wrestling company. Sure, it's basically a novelty. But it's a very rare novelty that gave this match a certain, special flare. Swagger and Mysterio have put forth some really high quality matches and I think this one matched up well with the two out of three falls match they had last week.

Thanks for providing a list Jack, I was a little dry on the matches this week that were actually worth anything. The only two that really stood out to me would have been Christian vs Drew McIntyre and Kofi Kingston vs Dolph Ziggler.

I think however that Christian vs Drew McIntyre has to get the nod on this one. Kofi vs Dolph ruined it a bit with the disqualification ending, I mean sure it gives Dolph a championship match next week, which I'm happy for. But could've at least build him to look strong going into the match by actually defeating the champion.

Christian vs Drew was good, as usual, very back and forth and actually had me believing that Drew was gonna win when he hooked up for the Future Shock DDT. Christian shows the world that Drew can work good matches, and he can do it on a regular basic. The roll-up wins it over for me rather than choosing Dolph vs Kofi. So that's my choice.

Shit wrestling on Raw this week, same on NXT as well as the travesty of Eli Cottonwood being eliminated.

Motor City Machineguns/Beer Money was once again the only thing worth anything on Impact this week. The jump off the steel cage was pretty sick. Not as great as their previous matches, but still pretty awesome. Likely my choice.

Swagger carrying Rey out to the Gulf of Mexico is definetly an honorable mention.

There were some good matches this week from iMPACT, Smackdown, and even Superstars gave a good one. I love the MVP/Chavo match on Superstars which I feel won't get the credit that it deserve. The MCMG/Beer Money cage match delivered as usual and should be great again in the Ultimate X next week. The Christian/McIntyre match was pretty good even though it had the lackluster feel to it. I was loving the Kofi/Ziggler match even the ending too and I'm looking forward to see how this fued develops now that Ziggler has a title match that I think should be saved for Summerslam. The Swagger/Rey match was good much like last week and I find it funny with all of Swagger's awards and accolades that he doesn't know how to swim.

Really not much to brag about on Raw, NXT, Smackdown, or Impact this week. Impact had the steel cage with the Machine Guns vs. Beer Money. This match was pretty enjoyable. These two teams could go at it for 2 months in a row and they couldn't put on a bad match. I may sound biased, but I have to go with the last few weeks of matches between Motor City and Beer Money as the matches of the week. When the feud is over with, I probably wont be able to say that about Impact anymore.

Afew matches deserve mention in my opinion for match of the week this week.

Cena/Jericho vs Sheamus/Miz: This was a pretty decent main event tag match which told a good story being that niether team was on the same page. Not the match of the week but deserves a mention

Drew/Christian: As usual these two put on a good match, they have really good chemistry together, it was a bit boring in bits though so not MOTW.

Kofi/Drew: Similar to their match last week, which is a good think the only thing holding this back is the DQ ending otherwise this is probably my pick.

In the end I have to go with

MCMG/Beer Money: I think that it is impossible for these teams to have a bad match, they could all be wearing blindfolds and still have a passable match. Anyway this was the usual match from these two which is definitely a good thing, cool top if the cage spot with the crossbody. Only bad part about this is that the Machine Guns were obviosly winning here.

I think these two are two of the shining lights on smackdown. And this match proves it.

Zigglers passion towards the IC title is giving it back its importance and makes me want to see him with it in time.

Kofi himself is deserving of credit most of the time since hes a pretty solid worker.

Put these two together on a PPV and your gonna get a great match, maybe even match of the night calibur if given enough time.

The Beer Money VS MCMG series continues to impress me, and I'm going with the X match as my pick this week. I thought the steel cage was better, but this was still good.

I've seen better from Cena and Jericho, but the match on Raw was pretty solid. I hated the ending, because the match was really starting to pick up around that time, but I understand it. The ending to Cena VS Jericho was just another way to help further the Team Cena turmoil storyline.

McIntyre VS Mysterio on Smackdown was decent, but the rest of wrestling on Friday night was pretty mediocre.

A pretty good week for wrestling this week with a few MOTW candidates

Cena/Jericho: This was a pretty good match although they have had much better, the weird ending stopped it from bieng MOTW for me.

Orton/Miz: It was good to see The Miz in the main event for the 2nd week in a row and he managed a pretty good match with Orton this was a good match but not the best of the Week.

Kofi/Ziggler: This was another good match from these two just like the past couple of weeks, Vickies interferance ruined this for me and the fact that Ziggler basically no sold the TIP, still good to see Ziggler finally get the title.

Rey/Drew: Although I dont like either man in this match I will give it to them that they managed to put on a pretty entertaining match.

This week I have gone with

MCMG/Beer Money: For the 2nd week in a row I have gone with these guys and as I said last week they are incapable of having a bad match together and have been the highlight of Impact every time since the series started. That DDT spot was awesome BTW.

Some good wrestling this week. I'll admit I didn't watch iMPACT this week so I can't really say whether the tag team match was good, they usually manage to pull through though.

I've got 3 matches that really stood out to me this week. Cena vs Jericho, great match that while I knew John was gonna win, actually had me suspending beliefs that he was gonna win, just for a few seconds to say the least. I had hoped that Jericho actually would've won, not because we'd be rid of John, but because I would've loved to see Jericho get a win.

Actually a really good back and forth match, sadly ending a little crooked, which I think might have hurt it just a little bit, but nonetheless still a good match.

On the other hand we have Rey Mysterio vs Drew McIntyre. I guess Rey really can pull a good match out of anybody. It was very back and forth, actually a shame that Rey Mysterio won it, because it would've made Drew look great if he had won this match. Oh well.

And ultimately Kofi vs Ziggler, good title match. They both usually pull through, so really no surprise there. Very back and forth, not really anything out of the ordinary to what these guys manage to pull out of their sleeve, but nonetheless one of the better matches this week.

I think however my choice is gonna have to fall on Rey vs Drew, not because I particularly like it, I would've much rather given it to John vs Jericho, but I think the ending ruins it just enough to tip it down to a 2nd place this week.

Match Of The Week

Overall, it was a pretty good week of wrestling matches. The stand out matches from Raw were John Cena vs. Chris Jericho & Randy Orton vs. The Miz. The stand outs from WWE Superstars were Vance Archer & Curt Hawkins vs. The Dudebusters & Evan Bourne vs. Zack Ryder. For TNA iMPACT!, the matches that stood out from the crowd were the MCMGs vs. Beer Money in an Ultimate X match & Jay Lethal vs. Ric Flair in a street fight. Finally, from Smackdown we had Cody Rhodes vs. Matt Hardy, Kofi Kingston vs. Dolph Ziggler & Rey Mysterio vs. Drew McIntyre.

John Cena vs. Chris Jericho - Jericho & Cena had a really good match against one another. It furthered the storyline of division between the team representing the WWE against The Nexus at SummerSlam and was an entertaining match overall. It's hard not to have a good match with Chris Jericho. As with just about any match if you pay attention to the storyling surrounding the match, the outcome here was predictable with Cena winning. John Cena isn't going to lose and be off the team at SummerSlam. That'd be like Superman not leading the Justice League into battle, which means they'd get absolutely creamed.

Randy Orton vs. The Miz - A good effort by both men and, like the Cena/Jericho match, it went for about 15 minutes. The Miz shows to me each week that he has the makings of a long term main event player. He looked strong in the ring against Orton and, obviously, Orton won the match because he has the WWE Championship match against Sheamus at SummerSlam.

Vance Archer & Curt Hawkins vs. The Dudebusters - A very solid tag team match from these four on Superstars. Some people hate both these teams, especially the Dudebusters, but both teams work well together and they put on a good tag team match. As neither of these teams have been particularly prominent, nor has really any tag team in WWE for a while, I wasn't exactly sure who'd come out with the win. Hawkins & Archer did ultimately come out with the win in a good 10 minute match. However, as Superstars is typically the throwaway show of the WWE, this overall meaning of this match wasn't all that much.

Evan Bourne vs. Zack Ryder - Bourne & Ryder had a good 13 minute match up on Superstars to main event the show. It was a little slow in some places, but they work well together. With Team WWE vs. The Nexus being the top theme for Raw, Bourne hasn't been as much of a focal point as he had been. Still, he looked strong against Ryder and did come out with the win.

Motor City Machine Guns vs. Beer Money - This was match 4 in their best of 5 series and it was a really good one. The Guns and Beer Money have really been the only four guys on iMPACT! for the past month or so that've been worth watching. Not surprisingly, this match was easily the highlight of the show. I do have to say that I'm not overly wild with the willy nilly way TNA tosses out gimmick matches. It was a good Ultimate X match, better than most for me as it wasn't just a mindless spotfest. There wasn't 8 or 10 guys hopping around all over the place, flying and flipping through the air to see who could hit the mat the hardest. The outcome was predictable, but the Guns scored a strong win in a very strong 10 minute match.

Jay Lethal vs. Ric Flair - I gave this match a thumbs down in my review of TNA iMPACT! because it was simply a really bad match. Once again, it's an example of TNA just tossing out gimmick matches. But, what bugged me about this match primarily was that it was a street fight that lasted about 5 minutes and Ric Flair allowed TNA to make a mockery out of him. Ric Flair is arguably the overall greatest pro wrestler in history and he spends most of this match running around in his underwear looking every bit the pathetic, beaten down old man.

Cody Rhodes vs. Matt Hardy - Nothing overly spectacular about this match, just an overall good solid effort from both wrestlers. I think that Cody Rhodes could possibly be a star on down the line. He's very young, he's got skills in the ring and he's actually pretty good on the mic. I'm not really all that wild about "Dashing" Cody Rhodes but maybe it'll grow on me. A solid 10 minute tv match, but not particularly memorable.

Kofi Kingston vs. Dolph Ziggler - Kingston & Ziggler are two wrestlers that've worked really well together in my opinion. They've produced really good matches and last night was no exception. Ziggler scored the win and finally won the Intercontinental Championship. He did have a little outside interference, but it wasn't a huge deal and it didn't overshadow his efforts in the ring. Kingston going wild and beating on Ziggler's ass as he did last week was a nice treat. That's really been the only thing missing from Kofi. Good effort from both men.

Rey Mysterio vs. Drew McIntyre - Great 15 minute match with these two. McIntyre is someone that I think has come a long way in a short period of time. He's much stronger now than when he first won the IC title. Mysterio is someone that you can always pretty much count on to give a quality match. I didn't expect Mysterio to lose of course as he's got the title match against Kane. Still, an entertaining match.

Match Of The Week - MCMGs vs. Beer Money - I've got to give the MOTW to the Guns & Beer Money this time around. Overall, I think they delivered the overall most exciting match on the week. I'd have to say that they're probably the two best tag teams in wrestling today and have made me give a crap about the TNA tag team division in and of itself.

Honestly as surprising as it sounds I thought Superstars had the best wrestling this week with the Evan Bourne-Zach Ryder main event, that was a damn good competitive contest with both men working their tails off for about 15 minutes with a few fun spots and a great finish, really good match there I had rated at ***1/2 stars.

I also gave ***1/2 stars to the Beer Money-MCMG Ultimate X though, so that should rightfully be co-winner this week I suppose. This only covers TNA and WWE though as I still need to catch up on a few New Japan shows and a NOAH show from a few days ago to be properly up to date. As far as American wrestling goes though, toss up between Bourne-Ryder and Beer Money-MCMG for me.

I'd say I'll go with MCMG/Beer Money every week until they stop having matches against each other. Quite entertaining, to say the least. Hopefully they give them a lot of time for their match on Thursday, as they could really use 5 or 10 more minutes on these things. Still, good stuff.

I didn't enjoy Raw at all, nor did I watch Smackdwon or Superstars, but McGillicutty/Miz was alright for what it was. I enjoyed it.

Easy peasey lemon squeezing this week, Motor City Machineguns v. Beer Money. The serires has been fantastic thus far, as I'm sure you know, and their final match may have actually been the best of all. Not huge on the ending, but can't really complain. Had me entertained from the opening bell.

RVD/Abyss wasn't bad either. A hardcore match that wasn't completely shit, actually. Quite the surprise.

Honestly, didn't really watch anything else this week, but I'm sure nothing was better than the tag match.

Didn't watch iMPACT this week, so can't really comment on it. However I'm sure MCMG and Beer Money tore the house down, like they usually do.

RAW Was shit for wrestling this week, if there's anything really worth mentioning it was the main event, and it was still mediocre compared to what those 3 (4 if you actually count Bret as a in-ring performer) can put on against each other.

Smackdown was pretty decent however, Rey Mysterio vs Dolph Ziggler was actually good, they usually put on one hell of a performance, so I guess, mostly because this week was shit, that I'll go with Rey vs Dolph. Didn't like the ending though, must be because Rey didn't need that victory, he has way too much momentum compared to Kane who should actually be the one with the heel momentum.

However a honorable mention would probably be either Christian vs Cody Rhodes, or Matt Hardy vs Drew McIntyre.

Match Of The Week

For this week, the standout matches on Raw probably had to have been The Miz vs. Evan Bourne and John Cena & Bret Hart vs. Chris Jericho & Edge. The matches on NXT stood out well this week with Kaval, Lucky Cannon & Percy Watson vs. Michael McGuillicutty, Alex Riley & Husky Harris and The Miz vs. John Morrison. I didn't get a chance to watch Superstars this week due to a brief power outage and I was too tired to stay up to midnight and watch the replay. For TNA iMPACT!, the stand out matches were Kurt Angle vs. AJ Styles, the Motor City Machine Guns vs. Beer Money and Rob Van Dam vs. Abyss. For Smackdown, I have to go with Cody Rhodes vs. Christian, Kane vs. Kofi Kingston and Rey Mysterio vs. Dolph Ziggler.

WWE Raw
The Miz vs. Evan Bourne - It was a quality match, but a bit on the short side. Bourne hit a few impressive spots and The Miz looked like a strong and legitimate main event contender. But, the match was only about 4 minutes long. It was a quality 4 minutes, but it didn't last long enough to be really special.

John Cena & Bret Hart vs. Edge & Chris Jericho - There really wasn't much to this match, but it did have people interested. The match in and of itself was little more than a stage for the final push of the7 on 7 elimination tag match at SummerSlam. It could have actually been a great match, but the match in and of itself was only secondary to the primary goal.

WWE NXT
Kaval, Lucky Cannon & Pecy Watson vs. Michael McGuillicutty, Alex Riley & Husky Harris - This was a return match to a very forgettable 6 man tag match they had on Raw. Overall, a really good 6 man match that gave all the NXT Rookies a chance to show off some. Kaval getting the win about the 11 minute mark was a great moment and I was hoping that he'd be the one to score a win for his team.

The Miz vs. John Morrison - These two always work very well together and it was a nice treat featured on NXT. John Morrison looked strong overall this week. He seems to be more along the lines of his old self in terms of passion and energy. He wasn't just phoning it on on Raw or during his match with The Miz. Both guys looked strong but The Miz picked up the win around 11 minutes.

TNA iMPACT!
Kurt Angle vs. AJ Styles - This was a strong and solid match to start iMPACT! this week. They've had classics against each other in the past and this match, while good, did fall far short of the bar they've set with each other. Also, the Kurt Angle retirement stipulation gave away the ending of the match really several weeks ago. We knew it was only going to be a matter of time before they had a match, as they're two of the top 10 contenders for the TNA World Championship, so that stipulation kinda ruined it. The match also only lasted about 8 minutes. It was a good match, but not a great one.

Motor City Machine Guns vs. Beer Money - Great match between these two to close out the best of 5 series. The final match turned out to be a 2 out of 3 falls match that the Guns won around the 21 minute mark. This match combined the excitement the series and generated in general along with the chemistry the two teams have and combined it with a match that went long enough. Couple all that together and you had the only match of the series that really felt epic. Most of the others they had were very good, but this one had all the dots connected.

Rob Van Dam vs. Abyss - I like hardcore matches now and again and this one was also the first time in a very long while that the main event for TNA iMPACT! actually felt like a main event. Both wrestlers hit some good spots, RVD hit all his big famous spots and all and got the win around the 18 minute mark. It's the best match Abyss has had in years in my opinion and it's easily the best match RVD has had since coming to TNA.

WWE Smackdown
Cody Rhodes vs. Christian - I enjoyed this match a lot and thought Rhodes & Christian had really good chemistry together. Overall, it was a quality 9 minute match with Cody Rhodes getting the win. I can understand some people not being in love with the way the WWE is using Christian, he's a great performer overall, but he could lose a dozen matches straight and still come out smelling like roses.

Kane vs. Kofi Kingston - Kind of like The Miz & Evan Bourne, this was a quality match but it was a little on the short side. Kane & Kofi work well together and I'd love to see something more happen with them. Kane got the win about the 5 minute mark. It was quality while it lasted, but it was just too short.

Rey Mysterio vs. Dolph Ziggler - Mysterio & Ziggler had some killer matches last summer and I thought their match on Smackdown was a great one. I would have like to see Ziggler get the win here, but Rey is going after the World Championship at SS so it makes sense that he went over. Mysterio gets the win around the 13 minute mark. Overall, just a really fun and entertaining match I thought.

Match Of The Week - Motor City Machine Guns vs. Beer Money - Overall, this really was the best wrestling match shown on tv this week. Overall, the two teams have had a great series of matches and last Thursday's match finished it off on a high note. It was easily the best match that's been on iMPACT! in a long time in my view. The match had everything going for it. It had the energy, chemistry and it went long enough for anybody to be completely happy with it.

Do PPV's count as part if MOYW? I'll just assume that they do, saying that here are my candidates.

RVD/Sabu: If this counts then it was a good match for what it was supposed to be, it was a spotfest but fun as hell.

Angle/AJ: Good match as usual but too short, a bit longer and it would have been a serious contender also the botched DTT didnt help it, to be fair it was a hard spot to pull off.

MCMG/Beer Money: Amazing match, thats all I have to say.

RVD/Abyss: This was an entertaining hardcore match, good to see the Van Daminator make a return.

Ziggler/Rey: Good match as usual between these two, it felt like it was missing a bit though, they have had better matches.

Nexus/Team Raw: If this counts it was an awesome match, awesome surprise with Bryan returning snd the match itsself was really good.

Overall: If PPV matches count then I will go with Nexus/Raw if not then I will go with MCMG/Beer Money.

If PPV matches do count they have to be in the same week, that Nexus/Raw thing was shit anyways. My match of the week no doubt goes to MCMG and Beer Money, this is a MOTY canadite for me.

It was a really tough pick this week, but I'm going to have to go with Nexus VS Team WWE from Summerslam last night. This was a pretty damn good match, and I didn't hate the ending like a lot of people did. I thought it was fine. Cena turning heel would've been a mark out moment beyond belief, but the match was still very good. Danielson looked awesome, and he showed no ring rust. It was a complete surprise, and none of us could see it coming. I'm also glad Miz didn't join the team, and pull of the betrayal, because it would've been so lame. Orton VS Sheamus was VERY boring, but I expected that, because I can still remember their match from the Royal Rumble. Mysterio VS Kane was decent, and Taker's return wasn't that much of a shock.

The MCMG VS Beer Money in the 2 out of 3 falls match was a very close second for me. This was just amazing, and the match had me on the edge of my seat until the very end. I'm sure going to miss seeing these two teams wrestle each other. Kurt Angle VS AJ Styles was pretty good, and RVD VS Abyss in the Stairway To Janice match took me by surprise, because I had it feeling this would be bad.

Can't not go with the Guns and Beer Money. I found their gimmick matches to be highly overrated, but when they got right down to business in a straight tag match this week, they really shined. Couple top notch action on free TV with a red hot crowd and the right guys going over, and I can't say I've had a better experience with the business this year. My choice for match of the year at this point.
