Match of the Week

My pick for the match of the week has to be Orton VS Swagger from Raw. This was actually a good match. I know Orton pinned him clean, but I still don't think this loss made Swagger look weak. He was able to hang in there with one of WWE's well established guys, and he almost came away with the win. Also, Orton's face turn/tweener role has been very entertaining these past couple of months. I haven't been this interested in Orton in a long time.

I wanted to pick Edge VS Jericho, but I felt their Wrestlemania match was much better than the one they had on Smackdown. Plus, the double count out ending just killed this match for me.

I'm actually gonna have to go with Edge vs Jericho, that match while it wasn't as good as their Wrestlemania match, and it was a great week for some good wrestling matches, I will have to say these two put on the arguably best match of the week by far, and I don't think the double count-out hurt them, it might even prove to become an advantage cause it could set up for a triple threat at Extreme Rules, and that way they could book a good way to make all seem strong (if you ask me) where they could have Jack Swagger retain through eliminating either Edge or Jericho after the other person not being eliminated had just suffered a finisher, pin, retain.

Anyway, I believe this match was on for line.. 12-15 minutes (I could be wrong) and it kept me entertained throughout it all, very solid match, although I must admit it was a hard choice this week, cause Swagger put on some golden performances with John Morrison and Randy Orton.

I think Im going to go with the Angle vs Andersen ladder match because i kept thinking Angle was going to win but he would always come so close only to be ulled back down to the mat it kept me entertained through the whole thing

The Edge Jericho match was a really good one to me but the ending made me upset now were going to have another triple threat match its just getting overdone

John Morrison vs Jack Swagger was good too because it made Swagger look a little bit more credible and it might set up a feud between him and Morrison along with Edge and Jerich for the strap

Swagger vs Orton was good too because Swagger looked great in the match as did orton Swagger is showing alot of improvement and he has to be wrestler of the week

all of smackdowns matches were good but none of them measured up to the ladder match on impact

I think it has to be Angle/Anderson. Very solid ladder match this week, despite the stupid stipulation where the winner got the key to the cage. They've had a hell of a feud thus far. Really looking forward to their match at Destination X.

I didn't watch SD and NXT sucked, so nothing from there. Swagger/Orton was a pretty solid encounter. I've always been a fan of Swagger and he's definetly one of the best in the company if you go simply by what he does in the ring. Hopefully he'll be able to put it all together shortly.

WWE Smackdown 4/9/10
Jack Swagger vs John Morrison

I believe that this match proved that Jack Swagger is good to complete with jericho or edge. The match is entertaining also. Its started after Morrison revealed that Swagger have speech impairment so this match already have a small feud, during the match, there are certain times when Swagger prove that he is a powerful wrestler.

And also the referee clearing blood away from Swagger is worth taking note of.

I'm going to have to pick one of Swagger's matches as his matches against Orton and Morrison were both pretty good. I'll go with the Orton match on RAW simply because it was slightly the better of the two. I think one of the reasons I enjoyed that match more is because it involved Orton. Everything he does nowadays keeps me entertained. Also, Swagger looked good in this match and came out looking fairly good despite the loss.

I'll do one for last week just for GD

There wasn't a definative best match but there was two really good ones. These were the contest's between Orton vs Swagger and Morrison Vs Swagger. I was entertained by both and it showed that Swagger can have good matches with different types of styles and can hang with the big boys. I didn't feel that Swagger looked weak as Orton as been on a roll as of late and has been beating everyone. Morrison vs Swagger was a great opening match which showed both off very well and I could see both as future main eventers, main eventing pay per views.

If I had to give the edge to one of these I would give it Orton vs Swagger as the blood clear up was a bit shitty and put a dampner of the match but they still managed to put on a great match. Also I have become a bit of a mark for Orton so I must give him the vote.

since smackdown is something i wont be seeing this week ill have to go ahead and say rude vs hardy the clean ending made it that much better as rude has a nasty offense and stayed on hardys ass the whole time but when jeff got free he took his opporutunity to advantage rude worked the shit out of the match targeting hardys head the whole time and not to mention those bruises made him look like a fuckin man and the post match was great too they didnt have the supposedly tough guy heels running away scare they stood there and fought and won also this is the second week storm has did something fucked up to RVD and hardy with a beer bottle it makes everything so much more interesting when things are consistent TNA did a great job with this

One of the crap things about living in Australia (there aren't many, so lets call it the "having the best beaches tax") is that we get Smackdown a day earlier than everyone else. Actually, thats a good thing. What is a bummer though, is that I can't discuss it with my imaginary friends on the internet straight away. So when I saw the Triple Threat on Smackdown, I was like, "damn, I'll have to wait a whole day to discuss this!"

So that's my pick for match of the week. I love Swagger, but first title reigns are always in jeopardy, especially ones won so haphazardly. That's what made this match so brilliant, because it wouldn't be below WWE to simply just have Swagger drop it to either Jericho or Edge. Sure it might be a bit of a dick move to people expecting Orton vs Swagger, but its not like people wouldnt get their moneys worth out of Jericho vs Orton or Edge vs Orton. Swagger could have dropped the title and still looked strong, so I was on the edge of my seat.

Even though the finish was something as common in triple threat matches as a fucking referee, I seriously thought for a split second that they were going to give the title to Edge. Otherwise it was a great match and really showed what Swagger can do. He's hell cool.

For Runner's Up I'll say Orton vs Batista, which I really enjoyed until the finish, which was to be completely expected, but still tarnished a pretty solid match. Also, Cena counting off his fingers was fucking lame. Who does he think he is? This guy?

It'd be a toss up for me between the six man tag between the Hart Dynasty and Rey Mysterio vs. the Straight Edge Society and Darren Young or the triple threat between Swagger, Edge and Jericho.

Both matches were really good and both were a good 13-16 minutes long. Both matches were given time for everyone to show their stuff and they came off great. While I think it was fairly certain that Jack Swagger was going to win this match, I have to give the match the slight edge because Swagger is over his first hump as World Heavyweight Champion. There was always the possibility that Swagger would drop the title. Vince could have decided he wasn't ready or Swagger may have potentially said something inappropriate to a veteran backstage or whatever. There's always that hint of someone that goes from 0 to 60 in no time as Swagger has over the past few weeks of getting slammed into the guard rail. However, Swagger successfully defended the title against two of the biggest names in wrestling in a great match. If he can get by Orton at Extreme Rules, I'd say there's at least the possibility of Swagger having a decently long run with the title.

I've got too choose a match from Smackdown again this week and my choice is R Truth vs Dolph Ziggler. This match was very good for how little of time they had and I would love to see more of them. Nah I'm only kidding LOL.

My actual choice is the six man tag match between The Hart Dynasty and Rey Mysterio vs S.E.S with Darren Young. It was a very entertaining match which showed off each guys skills. It was given a good amount of time and it made me want more. It was good to see The Hart Dynasty get a win over a team the fans like instead of Cryme Tyme and the "Dudebusters. It also showed me that Darren Young how good he is and the potential he has. He was good in this and seemed like a proper superstar. The black Cena is here to stay. The only thing that was the down fall off this was Miz on commentary, not the fact he was talking but how they cutting to see him and it made it seem like the match was less important but it wasn't that big of a deal. Over all a very good match that made a pretty shit Smackdown quite good.

My Choice of this week is definitely the Triple Threat match on Smackdown for the WHC title.

First of all, it put Jack Swagger over very very nicely if you ask me, it made him seem strong, made him seem like he could hang with the crowd, and while he did pin Jericho because of Edge, he eliminated Edge from active fighting for the title so to say, and picked up the win on Edge's actions, which still proved to be a strong move because, well he retained after a good what, 15 minute match with two multiple times world champions? if that doesn't scream "I got put over" I don't know what does.

Also the fact that Jack Swagger actually got back into the match after the spear, is a very good sign that he's strong, not easy to eliminate just like that, while yes it took some time, what matters is he got back, and got the win.

And to top it off, I liked how they made him seem even more dominant by power bombing Edge.

I'm also going to have to go with the triple threat match for the World Heavyweight Championship from Smackdown. This was a very fun match to watch, and it was damn near ppv quality. Although, I'm glad WWE didn't put this on ppv because I'm looking forward to the Orton Vs Swagger match a lot more. We all knew Sawgger wouldn't lose the title here, but this was still an entertaining match. All three men put on one hell of a show in this one.

Triple threat for WHC , hands down.

I just finished watching SD and once again they come out as the best show of the week , and its Main Event was the best match of the week.

First of all I love world championships on tv.They are always fun to watch. Then I have to say they did a great job to putting the young champ over.I think up to now his regin has been way greater and more meaningful than Sheamus's.He has had 3 good tv matches against Orton , JoMo and Jericho and Edge , He showed he is less green as a champion that Sheamus was , and I'm kinda certain he won't look back in his career.

Let's talk about the match.Jericho and Edge did a good job to relive some of their WWm match moments. It didn't look stale.Match was also unpredictable in my eyes , cuz there were some points i thought match is gonna be over but it didn't happen. And at last but not least , Thank God that Orton didn't show up and it ended clean.

3-3.5 star match.

No surprises here as I'm also going to have to pick the triple threat match for the world heavyweight championship. It was quite surprising to see the match take place at all seeing as how the Swagger vs Orton match has already been made. This did make the result a sure thing but they were still able to pull out a good match.

Edge and Jericho worked very well with each other, as you'd expect, but the important thing is that Swagger looked good and not completely out of place amongst two of WWE's best. Overal, I'd have to say this was an above average TV match and far better than anything else on WWE programming this week.

It has to be RVD VS AJ Styles. I really don't see how any other match could compare to that one. RVD winning the title was a legit shock moment. It's something I didn't see coming. The match was very good, and seeing RVD celebrate in the ring after it was over was just great. There's a part of me that would've liked to see this match at Bound For Glory because with the proper build, this could've been an awesome match to headline TNA's flagship ppv.

Swagger VS The Undertaker from Raw was also a nice match. It was kind of shocking to see Taker wrestle so soon after Mania because he usually takes time off after the big show. Still, RVD VS Styles gets my vote for match of the week, and this was an easy pick for me.

Well if we're counting last Sunday's Lockdown PPV as part of this week, (and well, why wouldn't we?) then without a doubt this award goes to the cage match that Kurt Angle and Mr. Anderson had. An absolute classic, five star match that I watched nearly a half dozen times this week just to confirm it was indeed flawless. The match was all about Kurt Angle getting his revenge and he got it in just a perfect way with some of the absolute sickest spots I've seen in a long time. That match was a damn classic and one for the ages, match of the week probably motherfucking match of the YEAR man.

Angle vs Anderson. I wouldn't be surprised if this ended up on a DVD(Besides TNA Lockdown 2010). Because it was a 5-star classic match. This is one of the best matches in story-telling and ring psychology. That moonsault off the cage was amazing it was done beautifully, It was so fluent and was Hit with perfection. So there is my pick.

Angle/Anderson was simply fantastic, or so I heard. I then checked it out for myself, and it was as good as it was made out to be. The WWE might regret getting rid of that Kennedy guy. He's really becoming something special. Hopefully he can keep it up while working with someone other than Kurt.

Obviously, RVD/AJ was another great match from this week, simply for the shock of RVD winning the world title. One of the few times I've gotten a little excited whilst watching wrestling on Monday nights. Great week for TNA.

I should probably check out that Angle/Anderson match. I've heard alot of good things about it. But seeing as how I'm probably not going to, I'll go with the Taker vs Swagger match from RAW. I think this is like the third week in a row i've picked a Swagger match, and his match with Morrison on Smackdown was pretty good too. The guy has just been on fire since Wrestlemania and I'm really looking forward to his match with Orton at Extreme Rules.

This week my pick is going to have to be The Hart Dynasty VS ShowMiz for the unified tag titles. I literally was jumping up and down in my room when they won the belts. Smith and Kidd winning the titles is something I've been waiting on for a long time. They are a true tag team, and I hope they have lengthy reign.

I remember how frustrated I used to be when they wrestled Cryme Tyme 10,000 times during their days on Smackdown. I was fan of Cryme Tyme, but It drove me nuts because I always knew the Dynasty could be doing bigger and better things.

I have to agree with Mitch, I'm picking the ShowMiz / Hart Dynasty match from Raw. The Dynasty are truly deserving of the belts, as well as a lengthy run. Too bad the division doesn't exist, but that' another thread altogether...

I personally was tired of ShowMiz, and anyone could see their eventual breakup coming from a mile away. They were simply a thrown-together team holding the belts simply for no other reason than to hold them. The Harts are a true team and will help elevate the belts, if given proper challengers to defend them against.

I suppose I'll agree with the consensu here. Hart Dynasty/ShowMiz was one of the best tag matches we've seen in the WWE for quite awhile. Despite not doing much for awhile, I've always thought Tyson was quite good and had the potential to do something at some point in the WWE. Not so sure about DH, but he has the body, so who knows.

I haven't watched Extreme Rules yet, but apparently it wasn't that spectacular. From what I hear, Punk/Mysterio and Cena/Batista were pretty good though, so one of them could get the nod here.

The WWE put out a lot of really good matches this week, but I'll also probably go with the Hart Dynasty vs. ShowMiz. The crowd was extremely hot for this match from start to finish and is among the best tag team matches I've seen from either WWE or TNA in a good long while. The Hart Dynasty also had a really good match against the Dudebusters on Superstars, but the Raw atmosphere coupled with the overall importance of the match with ShowMiz definitely gives it an edge of the Dudebusters. Seriously, why doesn't the WWE just rename those guys The Tools? It's what their heel personas are and they could wear the name like a badge of honor.

I'm breaking the trend and going with Jericho and Christain from Raw. The two have chemistry and on Raw, they were given time to show that chemistry. After a strong showing from Christian and the fact that the draft picks were roughly even by this point, I could picture a Christian win and almost found myself cheering for him. I haven't enjoyed a free televised wrestling match this much since last week's iMPACT.
