Live Discussion: RAW 7/14/2008

Don't forget Vince blew up his own car and SCSA kept running over cars...What is with Vince and cars anyway?

oh yeah. i remember when stone cold ran over the rocks expensive lincoln. funny stuff. just remembered a few more.
jbl's limo getting destroyed last week
when the big show flipped that car in a hardcore match that one time.
stone cold dropping a wrecking ball on the DX Express. lol

Overall, it was a very good show, that went by pretty fast. And I mean that in a good way. They started the show off with a bang, and hardly missed a beat, hardly slowed down. They got tons of talent onto the show, there was a nice balance of wrestling and promos. We had action, drama, and just the right amount of comedy, and good comedy too. AND we've got plenty of build-up to both the PPV AND the next RAW. Some parts of the show were a little weak, and yes, a bunch of people are gonna start whining about what they didn't like. But Jesus Christ people, it's a two-hour variety show, you're not gonna like everything you see.

I'm glad they did away with JBL's limo; now that he has to walk himself to the ramp his fat ass can get some exercise, other than the flurry of punches that make up his matches. And what's up Ted DiBiasie!? The only offense we've seen from in since his debut is the Millions Dollar Dream at NOC, kicks, punches, and a generic submission hold!

How about when Austin dropped Triple H 20 feet when he was in his car :p

I hope they don't think we're dumb enough to believe that Cena was actually hit by JBL's car. The angle was horrible, you could clearly see that Cena wasn't there. Or maybe they're trying to make Cena the next Undertaker and he'll magically rise from the dead :undertaker2:

Good show overall, I'm glad they finally teamed DiBiase with JBL. I'm really curious where the Kane angle is going. From the looks of it, he's probably going back to the mask sometime soon. At least, that's what the bag looked like.

Best segment of the show:

Kane: WHERE'S PUNK??
Santino: Did you check near the Pepsi machine?

LOL

Yeah I love heel Kane, he's so much more intense in the ring. And i enjoyed the ME tonight but if you're trying to make Punk look like a legitimate champion why is he facing Kane in the middle of the show!? It seems that Punk/Batista has taken a backseat to the ever more boring Cena/JBL.

Still kinda shit though. Although I was surprised at how decent that match was.

Because it was the Hour 1 Main Event.

It seems that Punk/Batista has taken a backseat to the ever more boring Cena/JBL.

Two problems with this statement.
1) If the two matches had switched places on the show, then JBL would have ran over Cena half-way through the show. I think everyone would be a bit too distracted to care about Punk vs. Kane by that point.

2)Cena/ JBL is a money fued, and is easily one of the most entertaining storylines going on on RAW, possibly as good as HBK/Y2J. Plus, either of them is by far more entertaining than Punk and Batista combined. So the two of them together? Yeah, it's the better of the two fueds.

1) Was the whole JBL running over Cena even necessary though? I'm sure the writers are more creative than that!(...well...)

2)That's fair, I guess I just believe the World Title should take precedent over anything else.

Benoit's title reign had a similar fate. I can see Punk's reign playing out very similarly to his, and possibly even remain in the same holding pattern Benoit was held in afterwards. IC/US Title reigns/top of the bottom-bottom of the top position.

How would YOU try to take someone out? Me, personally... I'd hit em with a car.

You're right it should. But there just happens to be more exciting things going on right now. At PPV's, I think the World Title matches should be on the top of the cards. But for TV, it should be whatever is the most intriguing aspect of the show, and whatever is the best way end the show, whether that's the World Title or not.

That's why I like RAW so much more than SD! lately. There always something interesting on the show. On SD!, the only big deal seems to be the World Title, and it's been that way for ages. Nothing on the undercard is important, and it shows on the PPV cards. Raw has three matches, SD! has two, and one of them is a throwaway match. Is there honestly a single person who cares about the new Diva's Championship? It looks like something you'd get packaged with a My Pretty Pony or a Barbie. There's nothing on the SD! undercard. The whole show is about HHH vs. Edge, which hasn't been nearly as entertaining as it should be.

The reason i believe HHH/Edge hasn't lived up to the hype is that they've barely interacted! I believe the only encounter they had was on the VIP Lounge. And i'm sure that HHH will ruin the wedding on Friday/Tuesday to give us something to look forward to at the GAB. After all, according to WWE's "Did You Know" not a single wwe wedding has gone off without a hitch.(fun fact) But seriously, I hope they're prolonging the HHH/Edge feud so that we have an awesome build up to Summerslam.

edit: actually i think that was just Vikki during the VIP, and there was also when HHH saved Batista

I'm really starting to wonder why Raw seems to love "killing off" (or trying, badly) random people. I rarely see it coming, and that's because it's always unnecessary. Mr. McMahon, Cena, etc. Why?

And did Beth actually get a face pop tonight? I think that's the first time I've heard her cheered. Poor Santino.

The Pepsi line though... dear god... classic. I, like many of you, nearly pissed myself. Good times. Santino probably could have picked up some more heat by suggesting Punk was by the Coke machine, although I'm not sure how even Santino could butcher that with his accent. Mast-rio will be hard to beat.

I just wish it made more sense. I'm glad they at least picked someone I wanted to see dead. Perhaps this will inspire a comeback from the ECW Zombie, but it will be a flannel-donning Cena in a wig and powdery make-up. Now there's something I'd like to see.
