Less Jobbing?

KKarvox

Pre-Show Stalwart
Is it me, or is WWE starting to stop using superstars as constant jobbers. Everyone from Paul Burchill, William Regal, Tommy Dreamer, Jesse, Goldust, Shelton Benjamin, Kane(Who i don't consider a jobber, but alot of people do), Big Show, etc. have been put in a more even light recently, picking up wins and put in decent fueds. I think the only true jobber right now is Chavo, who is doomed to be destroyed by little people. I think it's WWE realizing that using people as jobbers doesn't really make sense, because even if a young guy goes over a seasoned wrestler, it should make them look good, but if they beat someone who already loses to everyone, who cares? Anyone have any thoughts on this, or think i'm completely off on this?

I do somewhat agree with your post. The WWE has a couple of guys that could be used far better than they are being used right now. Ex: Shelton Benjamin, without a doubt one of the better guys in the ring, unfortunately his mic skills suck and he hasn't had a good gimmick since Team Angle. As for Kane, he isn't so much a constant jobber but the fact is that he's near retirement within I'd say 2 years. He wants to put over the young guys because he knows he's had his time to be in the main event. I feel so bad for Chavo, he went from being one of the best guys in the WWE cruiserweight division to being a joke by losing to Hornswaggle! Seriously, how much longer is that going to go on?

Will I think the WWE are putting a bunch of their would be jobbers on ECW to save the time of squash matches I mean 6 of the guys you named above are there on ECW. The only jobbers I see so far like you said are Chavo Guerrero and Jimmy Wany Yang if he would get more air time that is he would be jobbing. But thats a good thing if the's guys stop jobbing because I'd rather see no names get squashed than named wrestlers that are under contract.

Thank you, that was really my main thing. Using your contracted superstars as jobbers makes no sense, and constant jobbers don't make anyone look good. It's kind of like, yeah you beat a guy who hasn't had a win in months, so what? Even if they aren't going to be pushed, giving them wins here and there give them credibility to put guys over.

I agree the WWE could be using their so called jobbers better than what they are like Chavo. I mean the dudes a good wrestler he says all the time his a Guerrero the WWE needs to start treating him like one. That doesn't mean give him the WWE or World Heavyweght Championship but at least a run or 2 with the U.S. or I.C. Championship.

There is a jobber besides Chavo. Chris Masters. He hasn't won a match since his debut match, including the debut match. What was the point of his return? They could've used him so well in so many different storylines but they put him on the roster to job to all his opponents.

Evan Bourne, in my eyes, he is a jobber as well. I know what you guys are thinking, yeah, he won most of his matches but what is the point of him on the show if he beats the United States Champion and doesn't get a 1 vs 1 match with Kofi, or gets included in the 6 way match at Night of Champions even when Big Show was out of that match and they replaced him with Primo. And him defending Hornswoggle doesn't do shit for him. They can do SO much for him, storyline-wise.

Hornswoggle. Yeah, he's beaten Chavo 8-9 times. Fire him ASAP. He sucks, I don't like him and I'm sure the swoggle/Chavo storyline is fucking annoying to everyone. I mean, they should've let Chavo beat Evan Bourne finally and he was going to... until that ****** ass midget interfered, and it was an awesome match where we saw Chavo actually gaining some offense on his opponent. They should just fire Hornswoggle, I understand that the kids love him. Drop the whole PG shit and get back to the Attitude Era. WWE doesn't know how to run their own company.

I almost wonder why the WWE hasn't brought in local guys like they used to on RAW, when RAW was an hour and 3 mins. Remember the old days when Every match was a no name vs. a mid carder, then the main event was usually two upper mid carders. I think they could do that now, especially with ECW. On each show they could have one or two matches like this, specifically to get the newer guys, and lower mid card guys a few wins here and there. And who knows, maybe the WWE could find new talent this way.

This statement is so stupid. Vince Mcmahon created the attitude era, he created the WWF/WWE, and im pretty sure he knows whats he's doing with his own company. A man of his calibur and intelligence does not suddenly forget how to run a company based on scripts and his own judgements.Trust me, he is recycling the WWE (restarting it) and will turn it right around into the attitude era in about 8-10 years.

WWE has progressed so much and grows much more popular each year, so to say they dont know how to run their own company is absurd. You are saying it is bad because you are probobly older than 15 and actually watched the attitude era when you were younger, and realize this isnt as entertaining. But keep in mind that if your 8 years old and watching WWE right now, then when you grow up you will look back to this year and say how awesome WWE was because when you are young, whatever WWE is putting on the table will entertain you and you will fall in love with it.

Not having lower level wrestlers job every single match is the way to go. It makes some matches more interesting. Usually we are able to predict the outcome of almost every match of that calibur, but when you make a lower tier guy seem a little more on par with the guy who's being pushed it makes the match better. For example when Sheamus and Goldust had their few matches I thought it was a complete waste of time b/c Goldust would job and be destroyed. They had a couple of decent matches where we saw Goldust actually win one. That, to me, made the inevitable next match a little more bareable to watch. It gives the feeling of anyone can win on any night or lose on any night.

wwe id firing a lot superstars, refs, staff etc. but a lot of the people that have got fired are going to tna like earl hefner some of the superstars went there just so they would get a bigger part

Thats a perfect example of what i was talking about, giving Goldust a win made it seem more like a fued than a series of squash matches. It makes things way more interesting to watch. Plus, it makes both guys look good, as opposed to one guy. You tune in more often if you don't know who is going to win.

There are still jobbers, but they are just being used in a way that doesn't make them look like jobbers.

Goldust has only one one match since his jump to ECW (against Sheamus). Before this win, he lost to Shelton Benjamin and Zack Ryder; after the win, he lost to Sheamus again and in a tag match. I definitely think he should be winning more matches - he deserves it. His ECW fued w/Sheamus ddnt make him look like a jobber, although that was the first match he won on ECW.

Dreamer hasn't won a singles match since he lost the title, which I also think is stupid booking of the last of the original ECW mohicans, and can still put on a good match. Being affiliated w/Christian doesn't make him look like a jobber.
