Former WWE Women's Champion Layla announced this evening on her Twitter account that she tore both the ACL and MCL in her knee and will undergo surgery tomorrow.

"Well my knee injury is worse than I thought... I tore both my ACL and MCL," she wrote. "Having surgery tomorrow."

"I'm ready to heal and be stronger than ever!!!!"

She continued, "Not gonna blame anyone yet for making it worse than after Michelle McCool and my match.

"Just need the time to heal. Thank you all for support always."

Layla announced on the May 13 episode of SmackDown that during her match with Michelle McCool at Extreme Rules, she sustained a serious knee injury. Following Michael Cole's interruption, Kharma emerged. Cole proceeded to trip Layla, allowing the monstrous woman to drive her into the mat.

Well first of all, I'd like to wish her all the best with her surgery and recovery. Like we talked about in the other thread, she's really nice and it's always a shame when people have serious injuries.

As far as how this effects the diva's division, I'd say that it effects it big time. She was gonna be the face of the SmackDown divas with Michelle leaving. They still have Natalya though; and they could give the fans the feud they want with Natalya and Beth Phoenix. Since SmackDown is the "wrestling" show, it'd be fitting.

Well, it's not like she's really had any momentum going for her since her time with Michelle McCool ended. Layla is one of my favorite divas, and as much as I hate to say it, I won't really notice she's gone until she's bought up periodically here on the forums. Kharma seems to be the focus right now. I wonder how long she'll be out. Remember when Melina went away for like a year? Everyone seemed to forget about her. The same can probably be said for Layla. She's one hell if an athlete but few will remember her once she's gone for a while. Whenever she returns, I'm hoping she turns back to a full fledged heel rather than a face. Sad to hear this though. But there's no doubt, after any injury, you only get stronger afterwards.

^It's hard to come back as a heel after an injury, and imo Layla never played a good heel anyway.

I think it will be a bigger blow than some people realize. Layla is the best diva they have. She's pretty darn charismatic, moves pretty darn good, and understands that being goofy > doing movez just to say she can do them. And she's like super gorgeous.

I do think she was set to get that big face diva run. I would understand too.. She's not uncomfortable on the mic, doesn't mind getting her ass kicked for the good of the program, and again.. She's the best diva they have.

Hope for a speedy recovery. Tho, once you get a knee injury, there's a good chance you won't be the same afterwards.

Agree with you 100 o/o Layla is the BEST diva they have imo along with Melina which I would of used for the flawless gimmick. Maryse hasn't been the same after her knee surgery too, Lets just pray that Layla comes back better then EVER
