According to PWInsider.com, there's speculation among some in WWE that the in-ring career of WWE Diva Layla might be over. Layla has been MIA for quite a while now and the site reports that her disappearance from television the past few months is due to her not being cleared to wrestle. The issue of why she hasn't been cleared, apparently, hasn't been specified.
Back in May 2011, at the Extreme Rules ppv, Layla both her ACL and MCL in one of her knees, putting her on the shelf for the next 10 months. Reports say she worked extremely hard to heal up and rehab as quickly as possible, earning her a lot of praise. All in all, however, Layla really hasn't been much of a presence throughout 2013 beyond a brief feud with Tamina, an alliance with Kaitlyn that was originally supposed to involve a heel turn that put her into a feud with Kaitlyn over the Divas Championship and a heel turn that did happen in which she aligned herself with AJ Lee for a while before disappearing altogether.
At 36.5 years of age, Layla is the oldest Diva on the roster with Tamina being only about 6 months younger. Whatever the situation is, whether it be problems with her knee or some other health issue altogether, I think the writing's been on the wall for some time that Layla's days as a top fixture in the Divas Division are over. I can see her being kept on in some role for the WWE Network either as some sort of host or commentator for any number of programs or possibly helping out as an additional trainer in NXT.
