John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels III

At Wrestlemania 23, we saw one of the greatest WWE Championship matches of all time. We had then and now WWE Champion John Cena defend the title against Mr. Wrestlemania himself, HBK. We all know that the ending saw Cena forcing "The Showstopper" to tap out to the STFU.

On the April 23, 2008 edition on Raw (Cena's 31st birthday), we saw a rematch between the two. However, this time, the WWE Championship was not on the line. In a match that lasted well into an hour long, we saw Shawn Michaels pick up the victory after two "Sweet Chin Musics", but we all know that happened simply because the title was not on the line.

Since then, I do not think we've seen Cena and HBK go one-on-one again (correct me if I'm wrong). So, what I want to know is do you think we will see these two go one-on-one with each other again. If so, who do you think will win? Will the WWE Championship be involved? Would HBK still be in DX if and when the match occurs? Or do you think WWE will leave the HBK/Cena matches alone at one apiece? Thoughts?

...Not sure I'd call their Wrestlemania match "one of the greatest of all time". In fact that's absolutely absurd now that I think about. I could think of a dozen title matches from this decade alone that were much, much better. More than a dozen presumably.

I really don't want to see these two go at it again. HBK should be putting over younger talent like Legacy, not jobbing to the biggest face in the company who's already well established. Not seeing how this feud would benefit anyone involved. Really wasn't impressed by any of their previous matches, and I could really care less for another one. If it were to happen though Cena would obviously win.

It's 50/50 for me. Their Wrestle Mania match was great and the UK 1 hour long match was def a match of the year. Right now though HBK is with HHH building up Legacy and Cena is STILL fighting Orton...so who knows if and when there will ever be a good time to see it again...

They went one-on-one twice during the JBL/HBK feud on Raw with one win-a-piece I believe.

No I don't think they should have another one on one match. HBK's time now is to put over new talent. Have the up and coming superstars have a decent program with Shawn, then after that they will be ready for a main event feud with Cena. HBK/Cena has been seen enough, let's try and push new feuds.

Well you said to correct you if you're wrong, and you are. During the storyline where Michaels was working for JBL and JBL was the number 1 contender to challenge Cena for the WHC, we saw Cena vs. HBK on Raw twice. HBK got the win the first time after a sweet chin music following a distraction from JBL, and Cena got the win the second time when JBL screwed it up for Michaels somehow.

Personally, Cena vs. HBK has been done enough that I'd be desensatized to it by now...kinda like Cena vs. Orton or Orton vs. Triple H. Sure, Cena vs. HBK hasn't been done quite as much, but it's been enough. I'd rather see some new feuds. And I agree with xfearbefore that HBK is fine where he is, helping out Legacy. I wouldn't mind seeing HBK have another world title run, but I don't know if that's gonna happen, so might as well keep him where he is.

I can't stand seeing Kane wrestle anymore. Unless, he starts goin crazy like he used 2 be when he was unmasked & tombstoning Linda McMahon & electrocuting Shane & what not.

but back 2 the topic, Shawn vs. Cena, i would like 2 see the feud again. Was there in Detroit 4 Wrestlemania 23, the match rightfully went last as should have Taker & HBK, but it didn't.

I just remember seeing Cena present that video package of Michaels turning on every tag partner he had & thought "wow" & just watched Raw every week anticipating when HBK would FINALLY play the tune of chin music on Cena's jaw.

I also remembering arguing w/ sum little kids who were Cena fans as i was rootin 4 HBK lol it was all good though, nothin hostile, just all fun & games

You're only forgetting one match that has already been elaborated on.

I personally believe that Cena and Micheals couldn't pull another match that would top any of the three superb matches they've already had, therfore I don't want them to face off again.

Also, I don't see them facing off in the near future, espeacially now during HBK's dx stint. They could, however, be in a match later, possibly. I think, though, that the three matches they've already had was top-notch and unsurpassable.

Ok. All of you who said that HBK and Cena actually faced-off 4 times is correct. Those two matches that involved J.B.L. totally slipped my mind. So the score is really 2-2. So, the title should really be, "John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels V".

Personally I while I would love to see these two go at it again I don't think it will happen. Just like I would love to a see a clean match up of Cena vs HHH IV on pay per view. Somehow these men have great in ring chemistry. They mesh really well. Both are able to tell a story in and out of the ring and know how to get the crowd really into it. I would love to see this match happen.

I would like to see HBK go over though if the title is involved. I would like for him to have one last title run for old times sake. If the title were not involved then I would love for Cena to win the match.

Either way though while I would love to see the match I know it will not happen. HBK needs to keep putting over the younger talent while Cena needs to still be in his " Hogan-esque " phase of his career.

Well since they are tied 2 wins each i would not mind seeing one match to break the record. It dose not really have to be on a ppv or even one of the big 4. But i just want to see them face each other one last time and giving a good amount of time.

I think with Cena and Shawn Michaels, it really depends on the atmosphere. I personally don't care for their WrestleMania matchup. It was not up to par with Shawn's other great Mania performances in my opinion, and John Cena is John Cena. However, I was a huge fan of their match on the UK edition of Raw in April 2007. The match was perfectly paced and believable. If any of you reading this haven't seen the match yet, I recommend that you take a look at it sometime.

As far as a future match, I think it is a scenario of having gone to the well too often. They've already had four matches. If WWE decided to go Cena vs. Michaels at Mania again, they would have to make the storyline that much more intense. They would have to change the storyline from the other storylines of wanting the WWE Title while being a tag team partner Cena can't trust and the JBL story. I think you'd be grabbing at straws trying to find yet another reason Shawn Michaels and John Cena collide.... unless it involves DX in some way.

i think that they should have them feud again and put the title on hbk as a heel dx (if it is possible) and let hbk have a good title run then have hunter and shawn feud for the wwe title and have shawn to retire as wwe champ or have bret screw him over against a up and comer

I'm down with another HBK/Cena match. That one hour long match was classic and was definitely one of the best matches on RAW. When's the last time RAW had a match like that? Nobody expected it to go that long. I don't remember much from the Wrestlemania match to be honest, but Cena/HBK definitely have good ring chemistry. I'd love to see a feud with these two.......the two top superstars of the past and present should have like a Rock/Hogan type build up.
