I've decided to join the Army

Dude, every army needs to be bred, fed, and led. You need people to train the army, people to cook for it, and officers to lead it. I believe asking to be a cook isn't going to cause any problems. They will find you a spot. Every army needs someone to cook.

Could be good for you but if you have trouble handling how people treat you on a wrestling message board you are in for a rude awakening.

My thoughts as well. How are you going to react when your superiors are getting on your ass? Are you going to be a pussy and be all like "oh I can't do anything right, I'm so worthless"? cause if so don't go...

This could either be catastrophic or really good.

It's not as easy as that. There has to be a spot to put me in for me to for me to get it

Dude, if you are taking the asvab on Monday then you will probably ship out sooner than 6 months...and I'm talking about a few weeks kinda thing. You're recruiter makes money everytime he sends someone into basic.

Also, don't drop the soap...

And don't tell them you like wrestling because you will be everyones sparing partner

and don't volenteer for stuff. Make it where they don't notice you. You raise you're hand to do something and they will make you do everything.

I spent 5 years in the Army, enjoyed it and I'm glad you decided to do it. I would be very surprised if you are able to get a job as a cook. Sure, there are spots still there but they are disappearing as our defense moves to privatize many services that GI's used to handle, food service being one of them. It's not like it used to be where general jobs like that are all handled by soldiers. You would be very surprised at the amount of civilians that work on federal military installations now and get contracted overseas to provide those services as well. I would look into something more specialized that you could see yourself doing when you get out or after you retire. The Army has plenty of jobs that will make you very marketable once you are out.

Congratulations soldier. It's all you now. I've seen Bosnia, Afghanistan, Iraq and Germany during my 15 years of service and now retiring to receive an immediate monetarybonus and elect the REDUX system. Enjoy your stay, BT is far less strict than it was when i joined. Honesty you could've entered the reserves and made plenty, but I see the recruiter put those numbers in your head to persuade you to join full time.

RIP MILENKO
1987-2012

Tragically died in a friendly fire incident while serving in Afghanistan................He set fire to the kitchen while trying to flambe.

Well I'm currently laying in a hotel bed in Syracuse. I took the Asvab today and I take my physical tomorrow. After that if they don't find some reason to DQ me I just have to wait

Not if you're doing it in the name of Amurrica. And is it just US law? I coulda swore killing folks was illegal pretty much everywhere....
