A small crowd of newspaper and TV reporters are gathered within the media room of "Phoenix Corporate Tower" in Los Angeles, California. At the front of the room is a rostrum with numerous microphones attached, the logo on the front reads IC Entertainment. Behind the rostrum is a projector screen, displaying nothing but a blue backdrop. To the side of the room, three men in fancy business suits stand talking.
A hush falls over the media gathering as one of the men, dressed in a pinstripe suit with gold tie and gold framed glasses, steps up to the rostrum....
Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen and thank you for coming. Before I continue, please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Richie Phoenix. I am the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of IC Entertainment Limited.
As you may or may not be aware, IC Entertainment Limited has officially acquired 100% ownership of both World Wrestling Entertainment and Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling. These acquisitions make IC Entertainment the new biggest stakeholder in the world of professional wrestling, and I am here this morning to announce the direction in which professional wrestling will be taken by IC Entertainment.
As of this morning, both World Wrestling Entertainment and Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling have been officially dissolved, with all operations being rolled into one venture known as the Championship Wrestling Alliance or CWA.
Phoenix clicks a button on a remote on the rostrum, and the CWA logo appears on the projector screen...
Such a move has an obvious effect on all levels of business operations, from executive level to administration to backstage operations and the obvious effect on talent. We have rolled the new CWA administration and backstage operations into effect with minimal loss of staff, however there will be executive and talent shake ups.
The CWA creative team has been hand picked by myself. A number of people on this team are new professionals associated with IC Entertainment. The majority of creative staff members from WWE and TNA were either not retained or placed in a new role. The main reason for this being that we felt the biggest problems faced by both companies recently stemmed from their creative direction.
In regards to talent... we are in the final stages of finalising the roster for the Championship Wrestling Alliance, following ongoing negotiations with talent from both previous promotions. I can confirm that the CWA roster will contain talent from all 3 brands of WWE as well as talent from TNA, however using all talent that was previously contracted is simply not possible. A number of wrestlers have been signed to full time CWA contracts, with others being signed on part-time deals that ensure a set number of bookings. There were also a number of people signed onto contracts as road agents and developmental trainers. Any contracted person from World Wrestling Entertainment or Total Non-Stop Action who is not signed to a Championship Wrestling Alliance contract will be compensated in the form of a redundancy package.
In regards to CWA programming... We have signed a two year deal with the USA network for a two hour weekly show named Monday Nitro. This program will air live on USA on Monday Nights at 8.30pm Eastern, beginning with a three hour pilot, live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles and tickets go on sale for this event tomorrow morning. We will also hold pay per view events at a rate of one per calendar month, beginning with Ascension in December, from The Palms Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada also with tickets on sale tomorrow.
We have officially launched the promotion website, cwa.com. This site will be used to both market the product and keep fans totally up to date, as well as sell official CWA merchandise. The official finalised roster will be up on the website no later than the start of business tomorrow morning.
