IMPACT Wrestling LD for 04.10.14 — Oh NOES! The Bitch is Back!

A bearded man who is known for being goofy a lot of the time, uses a front missile dropkick and has been getting more serious lately is wrestling twice in one night after earning a title match earlier in the night.

Not the worst idea to steal.

"Lets go EY, EY Sucks" chants!??!?!?! o_O

There you have it, Eric Young is the John Cena of TNA!

:wtf::bringit:

Could TNA possibly be more transparent? They pull this shit after Daniel Bryan's win at Wrestlemania? Unbelievable...

So yeah....that BFG Series and spending months building Magnus?

Screw it. TNA's Santino Marella just won the World Title 100% clean.

Except he's not Santino. I have no idea what Santino's been doing lately, but EY has been getting quite the push into being a serious competitor the last two months.

This is an awesome moment for a ten-plus year veteran of the company who busted his fuckin' ass for them.

And just like Bully Ray didn't lose steam when he lost it to Sabin, Magnus hasn't "lost" anything by losing to EY. This, in fact, allows Magnus to win it back going forward if TNA want to continue down that path to become a two-time champion. It actually BUILDS his history.

Santino has been the occasional main event guy in a multi man title match but is mainly used for comedy bits.

You know, like being Dr. Frankenstein before having one decent match. I still see him as the guy that stripped off his clothes every week and had his loud wife shouting about fried chicken and bragging about hanging out with Ronnie From The Jersey Shore. Two months of admittedly decent stuff isn't enough to make me look past all that stuff.

From what I can find, that's his third singles match win since January of 2012. One of them was against Angelina Love.

Eric Young wasn't on the last PPV card...

So what? They've been building him as a serious competitor for a bit now. Out of nowhere would have had Magnus lose the championship tonight to a guy like Knux, who hasn't even been on television (well, in arena, at least).

I don't expect this to last, but it's a nice moment for a guy who has busted his ass big time for this company for the last ten years, and did it all with a smile on his face, no matter how stupid or ridiculous or embarrassing or humiliating the request.

This is rewarding a true company guy.

I thought I was the only one who saw the parallels, even before tonight lol.

Steve Lombardi was a WWE guy; wanna give him a run with the belt?

How about Bobby Eaton, does he get a shot at the WCW belt?

Tommy Dreamer was the epitome of the company guy in ECW, and the only time he got close to gold was to lose to Justin Credible later in the night. Sure, he got the belt in WWE, but that's long after Vince gave a shit, and knew it didn't matter one bit who was champion.

That's essentially what TNA did here. And hey, that isn't a horrible thing. I'm not saying that's wrong, because in all reality, it doesn't matter who's TNA World Heavyweight Champion.

But boy, is that not something I want to admit if I'm TNA.

Yeah, except that EY isn't Lombardi or Eaton. The Dreamer comparison is much, much closer.

You wanna call him a jobber, by all means, but he isn't one. His comedy is what's held him in that type of a position, but he's had small shots at credibility and a more serious role in the past. The company just never let the ball continue to roll.

Actually Eaton did get a title shot at the Clash of the Champions once. It was a 2/3 falls match and he pinned Flair for a fall.

He's a guy that I'll agree has had his pushes started and stopped, possibly too soon for their own good. If you were going to pull the trigger on an EY push, it likely should have been after last year's Lockdown, but then management dropped the ball. I'm sure this won't last long, and like I said, it really doesn't matter who's TNA champ. But if you're TNA, don't you want to pretend it does?

Also, you will remember how close ECW was to bankruptcy when Dreamer got the belt. I'm not saying, I'm just saying...

Well, we'll have to wait and see on both accounts there. I have no idea how long they intend for this to last. It certainly didn't last long for Sabin, but as I pointed out in the TNA Section, I think the reason for that was Sabin's utter inability to carry himself as a face — something EY doesn't struggle with at all.
